FINALLY! Someone who got one other than the midnight color! I ordered mine and I'm expecting it August 9th-16th. Good review!

I know there is drama about the ssd speeds for these models but I'm just here to see how the starlight Air compares to the gold Air. It is quite nice. A bit more subtle than the Gold one while still a bit flashier than the Silver or Space Grey.
At least they didn't use it to replace silver like they did with the iPad Mini 6.

@@oscaralvarez9373 for the base model (256 gb specifically) the ssd was changed from a dual 128 gb ssds to just one 256gb ssd. Using duals is always a much faster experience for data transfer but usually doesn’t cause much difference. but for the instance of the Macbook Air (which are making gamer pcs look weak) its super noticeable. The Base model is unbelievably slower than the 512gb model and up
Is the Starlight or Space Grey better in your opinion?

I like starlight so much. A nice silver colour with a yellow touch. Not too golden/elegant for a man who doesn`t really like gold but thinks the space grey an silver is too boring. :D

256GB storage in a 2022 computer should be illegal!
It’s an entry level MacBook…
I’m a student who does mathematics, never needed more than 256gb for everyday laptop, stop botching if you want more then pay for it
I think it’s fine for a lot of people, who basically just use their laptop for web browsing and word documents. But yeah, 512gb would be a better starting option.
@Bzake That’s pretty patronising. There are kinds of reasons why people might want to use a laptop over a phone but still not need much storage
256GB is worth it for students that’s de king basic task - I use iCloud+ with 200GB so I barely take up space.

This laptop is incredible. Radical difference comparing to the mac book pro that i am using. Can not wait, to buy new mac book air with m2 chip.

I love the starlight color….. if I get the M2 for school, I’ll have this; the mini and my Apple Watch. I am waiting on the new pro model to upgrade my 2017 pro model 🙄😂

I ordered the midnight but man it really was a struggling choosing between starlight and midnight. starlight looks beautiful in your video. I hope I made the right decision. Ill have to go into an apple store to see them both in person

@@bonitahaitian_2939 yes true! I went to the store today to look at them and I’m glad I chose the midnight. The starlight is still too silver for me and not close enough to gold.

Man I'm still struggling to choose between both colors lmao. I'm a bit concerned about midnight because of the fingerprints et smudges, and scratches around the ports... But midnight is so dope

I would say it's minimal as the silver. It really doesn't show that much at all.
Does the starlight one chips around the ports too like the mignight one?
All of the colors do. Its just more noticeable with the midnight due to the darker color. So therefore, it probably does, but just isnt as noticeable
Starlight looks grey with the lights you used in this video. Bot a good video for a color unboxing.
In some lighting it looks more silverish and others more goldish. It's a nice mix and depends on the lighting. But it really is more of a silver gold color.
@Brian Tong - any chance of you switching to 16:9 or 18:9 aspect ratio anytime soon? Your videos are clean as-is, but would look crispier imo in the 18:9 aspect 🙏🏼

Kind of disappointed the keyboard doesn't match the case colour like the midnight model.
The colors aren't matching on the midnight, it's because they looks really close, but the keyboard is definitely black

How are the fingerprint smudges compared to the midnight?
If you see the video I didn't wipe down the machine once. You'll see prints on Midnight instantly.

It doesn't. The camera modules is too thick to fit I a skinny laptop display
For the price the storage should be higher. It’s not future proof

When you are watching a movie on full screen, is the notch noticeable given that the background of the screen is blacked out?

This would have been rectified if Apple just simply used a matte texture

Some people want a thin, lightweight laptop but need a lot of storage, where as others want a lot of raw power but maybe don’t need as much storage. It’s like comparing a Range Rover to a GTR and then claiming that the GTR is a bad car because it doesn’t have off-road capability, or vice versa

Love the midnight blue color over the Starlight. If I was going to purchase the new M2 Laptop with no name on it that Apple called MacBook Air it would be this color. Midnight Blue is almost "Back in Black".
My hope is that Apple keeps the Jony, and Steve design around as a SE entry level $ 999.00 version of the MacBook Air. Just keep it with the previous version M series SOC for normals who just do things like eMail, surf the web, and watch your TH-cam type clips.
Feel that normals will still be the ones to purchase the M1 MacBook Air as long as it is around at $ 999.00. Marketing 101 with price point just under $ 1,000.00.

Isä 8 Gb ram enough for coding?
For professionals, 16 gb is the standard and 32 gb is the sweet spot. But for students and general users who will use it for light task, 8 gb is enough. Hence they will always say, 8 gb ram is enough for 90% of the people, yet they will also always say that " If I were you, I would go with 16 gb RAM ". More RAM means more efficient and speed, also it will benefit the longevity of it for it gives your laptop some space. Lastly, it has been proven that the base model of the M2 Macbook air which is the 8 gb ram with 256 gb rom has slower ssd.
