Chomp thing opinions were apparently so split that they made an upgrade based on him in BFN so people could make up their mind al-f-king-ready.
Due to my experience using the upgrade in BFN. It's one of the best Chomper upgrades for me because when you use burrow to escape from a fight, it regens your health faster

Definitely his best upgrade. I literally can’t imagine playing chomper without it.
I actually really like this new type of video on figuring out if a character is bad or not. If you decide to continue with this series then I suggest doing Vampire Flower as I think she would make for an interesting discussion.

Im a sunflower main (not a heal bot), in my experience vampire flower is just mid, she practically has a hitscan weapon but her dmg is mid and her hp doesnt allow for too much, sure she can regen her own hp but she can easily die of burst dmg, shes not bad but you really need to think about when to engage, her self healing passive allows her to be more agresive but her low hp forces you to play more defensive, basically you need to play smart instead of brute forcing your way in

VampFlower is what got me through the final Gnome boss. In online matches, I can't answer, but I imagine she's good in fighting Ops

The health gain is nice but when most enemies are dealing damage faster than she can heal it in CRAZY the lower health does her no favors.
Back around 2018 I was never really a fan of the Spray Chompers, but after hearing everyone say that Chomp Thing was the worst variant for Chomper I decided to challenge myself with them and get them to Master. He ended up becoming my favorite Spray Chomper, as he really promoted my playstyle of trying to pick my fights and not get myself killed. I took it the step further and used Chomp Cannon which also was considered bad and it made it that I could potentially deal with multiple targets given a good scenario funnily enough. Really I just always preferred being the underdog characters and try to make the most out of their advantages
Do one for metal petal, easily the most underrated sunflower and metal variant despite dealing the least damage, as it excels greatly as a healer that can bullet sponge decently well as she can heal herself
You mean to tell me that sunflower is meant to be a healer and not some sort of offensive class? That’s utterly ridiculous
I’m on the side of saying that he’s underrated. I’d personally say to play him like a tank, despite being frailer than most chompers. Hop into burrow, and you can stall out any fight. I’d run health, health regeneration, and one digestion, so you can focus on 1v1 encounters and win by a health race, instead of DPS race.

He’s very self-sustaining, and with burrow, you can easily regenerate health at a moments notice
I like the new content style! An interesting comparison video could be about which shooter has the most balanced roster
Counter-point: Overheating as a chomper leaves you in a situation a lot more dire than other overheat characters, since if you overheat as a chomper, it probably means you’re close enough to smell what your opponent had for lunch where with most other characters, you’re probably at a respectable distance
chomp thing is like e citron. It plays so differently that many noobs assyme that it is bad. it can regenerate full health from 1 in burrow with both healing uogrades, allowing for fun strategies. The spray isn't an issue as you swallow or use it only to kill lower health players. chomper is despite the hate my favourite class as it requires planning in ambushing and surrounding. certainly not the best but the most fun

Personally I like playing him as an assist character, gooping for teamates and burrowing to deal with strong characters or simply making zombies feel fear whenever they are about to take a zone. Maybe people who hate this character are just used to how easy other characters are and lack gamesense
I think we can all appreciate the time and effort it takes to clear these things up and then have a creative video to explain it.
I would like to see more of this- especially for few characters that has mixed opinions just like chomp thing.
I very much enjoyed it since I love analysing every characters goods and bads, even what styles of game play can be better to play as that character.
Just like you mentioned, the style of taking cover with chomp thing is a good way to get health back quickly and stay alive longer in the battle.
Hes the only other chomper i use other than twilight.
im close to getting max rank so i had to master chomp thing and honestly after watching your video on how to use sprint borrow or maybe it was an analysis chomp thing has been my fav ever since ive played him especially with the health regeneration upgrade and both digestion i love him i think hes the best

I dont like chomp thing because of his damage, 7 or 8 damage per hit is like a joke? Specially when they the only spray chomper with no element perk like fire chomper. Chomp thing is def better than armor chomper, and perharps yeti chomper (i think an video discussing about him would be neat too!), but i wouldnt go much farther than that if i were up to ranking chompers worst to best
I think because of how you should probably play chomper as an assassin type character where you seek out people by themselves this character is fine but if you want to kill people with your primary he's pretty terrible in other words he's pretty mid in my opinion but it's really funny if you take damage you can just play cover until you can kill a target since your regenerative abilities are so fast
I feel like every character can be very good IF you know how to use it. It's just some other characters are easier to use, so they are seen as much better
I think the one thing that turns me away from Chomp Thing is how common fire and toxic characters are and how they completely shut his gimmick down..as well as just having good aim
Wrestling Star was a poor example of an “Awful” character Moto X is worse IMO one hits like 18 Damage the other hits 3 with a downgraded goop effect

Mastering chomp thing must take a lot of skill, I feel like Mastering chomp thing for me is like winning the lottery, you never know when your gonna do it. And I also feel like even getting him to Elite is hard itself
Chomp thing good
Chomp thing is really good, people don’t know how to use his health regen. It comes in crazy clutch and good at being stealthy
In gw1 the half regen made him trash (imo gw2 did a good job at better balancing the gw1 cast such as chomp thing and super commando) but in gw2 i would say he's actually really good at what chomper is *suppose* to be doing and thats being a flanking assassin picking off enemies behind the lines.
Chomp thing is imo looked down upon because his lower health and just ok damage means he can't directly face tank battles as well as other chompers which most pvz players do even if he can heal from damage even faster than other classes with upgrades and he forces chomper players to actually deal with the weaknesses of a class and play differently much like other "weak" variants such as bandit cactus or cozmic brainz who really arent terrible but just arent as easy to pick and get a 70+vanquish streak on turf with a top tier.

I love slapping health, health regen delay and health regen on Chomp Thing and just getting all my health back after a fight like Count Chompula, but without the restriction of having to eat a zombie.

As chomp thing being my first mastered plant, im sick and tired of every single person just shitting on them for no good reason, then those same people turn around and adore hotrod who is more frail and whole gimmick is moving fast but it’s only really useful when you swallow a zombie but by then you will 9/10 of the time already be dead but the primary for hotrod is better than chomp things because it’s a chomp not a spray.

you'd think he'd be rated a ittle bit higher since he's literally the _only_ chomper in GW2 with a range primary, but I see a lot of people trash on him for some reason.
Tbh as someone who only plays chompers chomp thing is a b tier character because he's the only character that can regen health crazy fast and on top of that the "health being too low" argument gets cancelled out if u use the health upgrade so yea. The spray chomper that i would play the most is fire chomper because he's the best out of all of them imo the fire damage actually helps and also the spikeweed glitch
He has low health: hot rod chomper exist
He has an overheat: so does any spray chomper
In fact, the real worst chomper is toxic chomper
If he has a projectile like yeti, he would actually be good and unique

If you plan on doing this type of video again, i think you should try to see if Party Rose is as bad as people say. Personally I can get work done because I understand how to play her, but i wanna see what you say... pretty sure i know what the final verdict will be, but still.
Chomp Thing is a good Chomper in my opinion since his ability to regenerate health very quickly puts him in a advantage over most Chompers since you can solo more effectively. I think having 135 HP is justified since it would make fighting Chomp Thing infuriating if it had 175 HP instead of 135. I know I just said the most generic thing about Chomp Thing but the thing is that you have to play smart and take advantage of his gimmick.
Chomp thing is my main chomper. People just need to learn to stop being spam eating people noob just goop, then trigger spam the fact you can outrage super brainz for enough

He's not as bad as Yeti (which doesn't say a lot) but that's mostly because of Burrow which is the only time his gimmick really comes into effect. I'd rather just have more health in the first place, or auto healing like Chompula. WAY better than GW1 Chomper though, good god.
Not that they're comparable, but I'd say Wrestling Star absolutely smokes him, considering you listed him at the beginning as a character considered to be bad.
I'm gonna say that Yeti isn't nearly as bad as you think, because freeze + range leads to the dumbest instakill scenarios imaginable, probably not the best chomper due to low DPS but being able to aim and freeze people into swallow or burrow is ridiculously cheap and surprisingly dumb
his primary is too weak and the health loss is too much I compare him with vampire flower she has the same problem the gimmick is good but you lose too much for it
Chompthing is actually a decent character and underrated. And actual shit chomper is count chompula. Why? His healing mechanic requires you to eat and when you eat you would be dead already.

Tbf with him existing, in GW1 hes absolutely a piece of garbage of a character.
But in gw2 he got buffed with a bunch of upgrades he got like make his hp regen fast than any chomper and gave him 10 hp extra for more resistance which wasnt enough, and well.. he ended being decent at least.

I feel chomp thing is too odd for ppl to think he’s good. Personally I kinda enjoy playing as him, but then again I find that bandit cactus, rock pea, toxic citron, and centurion, to be amazing variants so take my opinion with a huge grain of salt

I mean, for bite chompers they did actually increase the hit box sizes so that you don’t have to by physically touching someone anymore in order to damage them (you can stand a little distance now).

Like yea, Wrestling Star, Toxic Citron and Armor Chomper are kinda weak compared to others but they can play their parts right. Toxic Citron is supposed to be support Armor Chomper can work well if your sneaky, and Wrestling Star has all of All-Stars stupid abilities so I never thought of him as below average really
