I do wish we could get these comparisons with aftermarket tires and wheels. It is the upgrade that almost everyone does and makes the biggest difference in performance
Very nice comparison! I was surprised to see them both struggle in the last bit, but I'm still learning about what 1/18 scale crawlers can handle. Hard choice, but I think I'd go for the LC80 as well.
The k10 is great my son loves it but we did break differential gear with in 1 week. Fms did come out with metal ones! Ordered them was hard to find parts so mixed and matched for now but it’s running great and a lot of fun.
I just bought the FMS FCX18 K10. It takes about 10 minutes to get the body off if you want to work in it. And the screws are tiny and you better have a very gentle touch or you will strip the plastic. Also, not many not upgrade options other than tires. I wish I would have bought a Traxxas.
That'll be the same maintenance wise for a Traxxas too, as mini crawlers everything is tiny and TRX4M is all plastic too. There are upgrade options for the FCX18, as they share the same axles as the FCX24. TRX4M has been out longer than FCX18 so has more parts. 👍
I think the K10 actually performs better than the LC80 out the box, so yeah it's more down to personal preference. I enjoy mudding mostly, so a shorter wheelbase is better for me. 👍
I was thinking about it, but it looks a bit fugly if I'm honest! I've just picked up the SCX24 Power Wagon and will be getting the CR18 Evo which I prefer the look off. Want to try the FX118 Katana too. 👍
I made the mistake of getting the LC80 , it ran for 3 days since November, first the drive shafts just exploded, i changed them for metal ones, then the gear box gears got stripped, allof them , and after that was fixed the receiver caugt fire. For me it is never more FMS , worse RC I ever had.
That's no good. I know a few people have mentioned they've had issues, which is a real shame. I've got 3 LC80's and had no issues except the power switch, which was my own fault for submerging it. If you've seen my videos I've not been easy on them. I'd go so far as saying I put my rigs through a lot more than most TH-camrs. I think the main downside to mini crawlers is they are more fragile, as they're not built like tenth scale rugs. I'll be honest, my most reliable mini has been my SCX24, tougher than my trx4m and fcx18's. 👍
@DoURC my SCX 24 has been through he'll and back without any issues, so was my TRX 4 M m it is just the FMS junk that is always broken, here in Poland it is even hard to find a service that would accept it. They mostly refuse to work on Fms rigs.
For sand I'd say you want more like a mud tyre, as you want more of a paddle, deep tread design. Whereas for rocks you could have a different tyre style. I really like the LGRP Black Labels on the rocks. The Injora Swamp Claws are a good tyre too. 👍
i agree the lc80 is much better, im a bit fed up of american pickups. now what i want is a 1/18th suzuki jimny haha with lift kit 😂. looking forward to the updgrade vid tho mate
Yeah I'm not very familiar with it either, but yeah the scale to me seems a little off. It's something FMS seem to struggle with sometimes. I much prefer the LC80. 👍
Nah, I grew up with a K10 and those proportions aren’t far off. K10’s had huge beds. So called 8’ beds, but in actuality bigger, because they could swallow a 4x8’ sheet of plywood with plenty of room to spare. Ever since, beds have shrunken more and more in favor of cab space, which the K10 had very little of.
At $20 for both I would take neither. FMS service does not service. They steal. 3 rigs and 4 problems. Two litigations. Zero service. They couldn't care less. They owe me about $200.
I can't agree with that, I've seen plenty of positive interactions between them and other people. They always seem happy to replace parts etc if things break. I've got to be honest, I see people moaning about breaking stuff all the time, is it the rig or the driver? I've got 6 FCX18's and only had gear issues with 1, which was my own fault. I've got 4 FCX24's, 4 FCX24M's and pretty much all their bigger rigs and I've had less issues than with other brands. Just my 2p. 👍
I buy every RC with the expectation that parts will break & I'll replace them myself. I've got almost 60 RCs & I've never used an aftermarket service. Most of the parts I break are because of my bad driving anyway.! 😉 Though I have had consistant issues with Spectrum ESCs & servos in my Arrmas, I just rip them out & fit my own. I've usually voided my warranty by fitting my own connectors anyway. I just can't be bothered with dealing with a service department. Guess what, I'm never disappointed.! 😉😉😁

Yeah totally agree, but the point of this video was out the box comparison. I'll be doing an upgraded comparison soon. 👍
Very nice comparison! I was surprised to see them both struggle in the last bit, but I'm still learning about what 1/18 scale crawlers can handle. Hard choice, but I think I'd go for the LC80 as well.
Thanks very much 👍
Yeah uphill in sand is hard work. Even tenth scale rigs can struggle in sand, as they just dig in.
I definitely prefer the LC80. 👍
Awesome video!! Been trying to find a video of this exact comparison, and this did not disappoint!! Cheers
Thanks very much and glad it was helpful 👍
U know its a good day when dourc uploads😅
🤣 Thanks very much 👍😁
This is a perfect comparison. Ive had the lc80 for a while now :) great truck! Hope to get the k10 soon, love the bigger size

Yeah I had issues with my gears after a few runs too. I've got the FMS metal gears but haven't fitted them yet. 👍
You gotta make some merch that says "nice!" On it, always cracks me up when you get over an obstacle you say nice ha
🤣🤣🤣 That's a brilliant idea 👍
lc80 just a good lookin rig!
Looks great doesn't it 👍😎
Great review! Thanks for the in depth look!

A K10 doesn’t dwarf an LC80. I’d say if the LC80 is a 1:18, then the K10 is a 1:16
Yeah it does seem a different scale tbh. I hope they do some different bodies this year for the FCX18 as well. 👍
I like the longer weel base I have 1/18
trxm4 bronco and f150 and I have 1/24 jeep yellow one

How about the Redcat Ascent 18 brother? That one I'll get.

@@DoURCagreed. It’s no pleasure to look at like these are.
Ii would have the Lac80,I prefer the short body for rock crawlers and the longer for trailing ost of the time
Yeah same here, the LC80 looks much nicer imo, but I'm not a massive Chevy fan tbh. 👍

Did you have a stock LC80 or did you strip your down for the vid?
I had a stock LC80 I hadn't done anything with yet. I've got 3 of them, grey us stock, blue and yellow are upgraded. 👍
What is a great sand and rock tire upgrade for this?
For sand I'd say you want more like a mud tyre, as you want more of a paddle, deep tread design. Whereas for rocks you could have a different tyre style. I really like the LGRP Black Labels on the rocks. The Injora Swamp Claws are a good tyre too. 👍
The K10 is actually A little over 1/17 scale.
Yeah it's big. It's actually the same physical size as a WPL 1/16 C24. 👍
Which one has a realistic movement and spring?
You tell me what you thought from watching the video? 🤔👍
@@DoURC Good question I think LC80
@@oupekha I think the K10 actually has nicer suspension movement due to the extra weight. But I prefer the LC80 overall. 👍
Where can I get metal drive shafts for the k10?
I believe RCAWD and Injora do some. If you buy from RCAWD I have a discount code you can use in the description. 👍
i agree the lc80 is much better, im a bit fed up of american pickups. now what i want is a 1/18th suzuki jimny haha with lift kit 😂. looking forward to the updgrade vid tho mate
That would be cool 👍😎
Upgrade video will be out Wednesday, it didn't quite go to plan! 🤣😬
Same here, get bored of these boxy looking American trucks. Hope they will gv us a Hilux version, or Suzuki jimny would be great.
@yekit485 Yeah, a Hilux, Patrol, Jimny or a Disco would be awesome 👍😎
I’m not that familiar with the real k10 but this fms model looks out of proportion to me…the truck bed looks a bit too long?
Yeah I'm not very familiar with it either, but yeah the scale to me seems a little off. It's something FMS seem to struggle with sometimes. I much prefer the LC80. 👍

What is off, is the wheels. This model has more of a lifted look with oversized tires.
