    When I started I had low budget light over a 20G for 8 hours. The plants inside where the sessiflora, rotala indica, all easy plants and they grew INSANE. Then one day while doing water change, I realized it wasn’t 8 hours, it was set to 10 hours for months 😂😂😂

    Maybe you can keep some corydoras in the discus tank. They move the sand searching for food. It keeps the bacteria away, not that they eat them, but moving the sand a bit does the trick.

    Don't quote me too it, but I may have read before axolotles are very sensitive to heat or water flow I belive one of them. Might be something to maybe look into! Your little guy is super cute!! Pancho looks fine to me. The older axi's get the less they tend to swim. He will need bigger tank at some point. My two girls are five years and they are about 14" long and very chunky and crawl around the floor more now than when they were younger. You will also find that they don't eat every day

  • @williammcdowell6257
    @williammcdowell6257 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Cyanobacteria normally indicates pollution, i.e. high nitrate and phosphate levels, also high temperatures and long photoperiods don't help.
    Change water after syphoning the poisonous stuff out (50% every day for a week), then add Rowa to the filter, with Discus you can't reduce the heat so settle perhaps for an 8 hour photoperiod (but try 6 hours for the week of water changing) and maybe add tannins/leaves/even loam (all unsterilized) - to introduce competing bacteria. Your old friend duckweed would help as well - it simply sucks up pollution - as would bigger plant foot-print on the substrate. Good luck.

    As long as tour axolotl is eating and pooping, I think it should be ok. You could add a bit of aquarium salt to prevent any infection, but salt is not tolerated well by plants.

    My husband and I are super curious about how you go about preparing your aquatic plants for your tanks. Some videos you look as though you have dedicated grow tanks, others look as though you stage them in-between purchase and putting into an aquascape. Will you make a video on this ? Or is there one I am missing ? He would like to grow his own plants from plants he purchases for his aquascapes. Would love to know how you do it !

    It's better to keep 2 axolotls in the same tank, they aren't really social but it's better for them. He seems to be in good health, axolotls are juste very very lazy, they don't swim really often and they are bad swimmer btw, they prefer to rest in the darkest spot and just do nothing 🤷🏼‍♀️ I think everything is ok for him ☺️

      Don't agree with introducing another axi to the tank now, you will more than likely end up with cannibalism. I do agree that the tank should be colder and darker, axi's hate the light and need the water 18°c and lower

  • @6RadaR6
    @6RadaR6 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    The underlying cause of BGA is the following: too much decaying organics, not enough flow, nitrates too low. Chemicals can kill it but you need to address the underlying cause. Blackouts also help remove it combined with water changes.

  • @ethandooley9945
    @ethandooley9945 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Axolotl dont swim that much usually like walking along the floor looking for food, especially as they get older and if your feeding worms he will know where to stay for food, they like cooler water for sure but still eating is a very good sign.

    on the ember tetra topic, mine live in a tank (30 liters) in between moderate and dense planting in a school of 8 with a bunch of crystal red shrimp. They are doing fine but are extremily skittish. Any clues on how that happened/ how to solve it? I am thinking about adding another fish to make them feel more safe but if anyone knows a fish that does not eat shrimp and will fit in a 30 liter (around 8 gallons or something i think) aquarium with a school of fish in it already please let me know.

    On the tropica channel, George's tank had brown algae take over due to long period of low intensity lighting. Has anyone faced such issues due to longer light duration

    Hi, loving all your videos on planted tank's and scapeing. What light's would you recommend for a 4x2x2 tank. It's a marine tank at the moment had it for year's but finally selling up and taking the plunge to planted aquarium for something different and don't think my hydra 26hds would grow the plant's? Thanks

    Siphoning is not necessary if you got to add "corry Dora's" they will take care of the rest
    But should be careful with carpeting plants...!

    Puedes poner coridoras en el acuario de discos para que renuevan la arena y no se vea la cianobacteria
