Nice video Blake. I really appreciate you sharing your experience! I haven't attempted to do a carpeting plant yet as a carpet... although I do have some Monte Carlo planted in my tank, just to see if it will survive and grow! This is definitely one I will try in the near future! So many choices so many things to try👍I enjoyed the video. I hope you have a great day!!!😁🌿🐟🌱🙏
I was excited to have Star Grass grow as a great fast growing groundcover....for many months it look great and then ..no matter that I replanted cuttings all the time,it seems to have gotten thinner and less rambunctious. I think stem plants have short lifespans. For forever carpets people might go with plants that divide. Still, you can get a year or more out of stems as carpets and for months they peak. Just in the very long run..lol..
@@BlakesAquatics Yes,I have had to comb that out at times to. For some reason I get the feeling that Staurogyne is worth a try also. One thing about carpets? When you have large aquariums they go a long way to satisfy the urge to see green--- without taking up the swimming space of the fish like Rainbows. Bosys get to be hefty fish, deep bodys..beautiful,but need room.
I thought I killed it, and I’ve got 15 or so different plants and have never killed a single thing (I have no clue how) and I was PISSED but I just left it hoping it was melting n it’s been about a month and a half and I have like 6 super green little stems, so if y’all think u killed it j wait it might be taking its time melting
I bought 30 stem of pearlweed. Today is day 4 since I put it in my tank. Its like its melting and turning black what should I do??? Or maybe its just transitioning?
Sir iam from Hyderabad India your videos are ver informative I impressed with your knowledge.. sir can you tell how much CO2 needed for 30cm tank please describe
I would like to ask if this plant is suitable for nano aquarium, with a base of 20x30cm and 20cm in height. I have a plan to rebulid my aquarium from a set consisting of one stone and a branch which does not fit in with its shape into my aquarium to two lower and better fitting branches (maybe placing that stone between the branches) and plant the branches with Anubias or Bucephalandra (depends on which is more durable against algae and also some illnesses and temperatures reaching 28-29 °C). But I seek for some plant to consume nutrients to prevent algae and I don´t know which one is the proper choice as I want to avoid chosing some plant which would need pulling it off the bottom and disrupt the bottom. Thanks for advice ;-)
@@BlakesAquatics Thank you for quick response! ;) So I won´t struggle with overflowing the "cube" with that plant. Some still say that high temperatures are huge struggle for them like in this vid. th-cam.com/video/mwHA9r2MJg8/w-d-xo.html ... So I am a bit confused but still pearlweed looks for me very attractive as its huge bushy stature will be very pleasantly welcomed by my Neocaridina davidi shimps :-) I know these little "creatures" love to swin between some dense plants stuff :-)
@@Hrafn22 your shrimp will struggle a lot more with those temperatures than the plant will. Is that the ambient temperature or are you heating it to that temp?
@@BlakesAquatics Unfortunately the ambient temperatures are that high naturally from may till early september days from 25/26 to 29 °C. I tried to add some cold water when returning from work in the evening but that makes effect only for a few hours when the water temperatures rises again from 21/22 °C to 25/26 °C and next morning it is back at 27/28 °C. During 4 moths the days are hot as hell. After this period I have no need to heat the aquarium even during low temperatures during night as flat has got it´s heating and provides also heat for aquarium from september till march when temperatures are high enough. Right now 24 °C is in aquarium. :-)
Is pearl weed cheaper than Monte carlo. To carpet with the Monte would cost 100's as I've only ever seen tiny plants in tissue culture gel. I've never seen pearl weed. Lol. Central coast nsw

Fabulous plant, and the Only plant I've been able to grow without CO2 as a full-on genuine carpet so far. Great Choice :)
So many projects and so many cool things to try! I'm definitely going to try to give this one a go!!👍🌿
Great to hear!
you can also use dwarf Sagitarria as a carpet plants it is good to but i prefer pearlweed or Montecarlo
@johnharoldfajardo5921 if you choose one monte carlo or pearlweed? Which of the two is easy to maintain and slow to get taller?

i would think its transitioning if theres enough light and nutrients for them I wouldnt be too worried.

Hi mate it depends on the amount of plants. Easiest way is to buy a drop checker and wait for it to turn yellow. Thanks 👍
Why does tropica say advanced also is it okay for the fluval flex if you know
I am not sure why they label it advanced but I am sure youll be able to grow it in a flex with a little bit of liquid fert no problem
Great info bro 👍🏻
this plant grows like a weed for me it looks great though works as great fertilizer for my tropical vivariums

You said you can even float it, does it mean it doesn’t require nutrient rich substrate
Correct
do i need a plant substrate or can I be using gravel
Gravel will work
Blake's Aquatics so my new tank shall work
Will it grow on sand
Does it grow in small lava rock?
With some fertiliser sure

You can definitely start with less because it grows much faster so in that sense yes
My tank substrate is sand. Can i grow pearlweed?
not as easily but it is possible
Please tell what is low, medium and high lights in terms of watts per gallon.
Its a bit up to perception but id say low is < 1w / g and high is > 3w/ g
