Agreed! This is one of our favorites too. Ticket to Ride: First Journey is probably your most comparable game option if you’re looking for something along these lines. But I know, no ghost pirate in that game. It all depends on what you’re looking for 😊

Is the goal to get to the middle Island then?what if somebody else has their pirate on the island? Also how many items of each does one need to trade in to the 'bank' (not market) to exchange for X item? Does the currency being traded in have to be of the same type of can it be mixed to gain what resource you require?
Great questions! The goal isn’t necessarily to get to the middle island but it’s very helpful. If you take the lead with the most Coco tiles then you get to replace the other player on the center island. And it’s 2-1 if you trade in the “bank”. Has to be matching resources that you’re trading in. Hope this was helpful 👍
Wow this game is complicated ! Our family just got into board games since our almost 5 year old 9 year old boys love playing board games now . We play monopoly junior and tickets to ride junior , both are equally loved . Can you suggest some more games like the ones I mentioned ,which are also fun for parents to play . Thanks !!
Family time playing games is pretty great! And Catan Junior isn’t too tricky once you play through it once - it’s a great game, well worth the effort to learn. Other excellent games along the lines of what you mentioned are Dragomino (domino game with dragons), Yamslam (like updated Yahtzee but with poker chips), and Uno Flip (Uno with more specialty cards). We played a 2 player game and both of us got stuck to a point where we couldn't play a lair without it being adjacent to another lair rather than alternating. What did we do wrong?
That’s frustrating! But you’re right, it does sound like something went a bit wrong. I’m not sure what you mean by alternating … you start with two pirate lairs and two ships on the board on designated spots. From those start points you are creating paths that alternates between ships and lairs of the same color. It’s not like regular Catan where you have to be two spots away, each circle spot on the board is fair game for a lair. I just got out my board and there are always enough options that even if someone beats you to a spot to build a lair you have plenty of other options to place ships and lairs. Hope this helps!
@@GameLikeAMother I figured out what we did wrong. I didn't put the initial pirate ships on the dotted lines during setup; rather, I put them on a circle space. We didn't use the dotted lines at all and ran out of places to place lairs then ships. Thanks for replying.
