- Hey, How's it going everyone? I'm Phlinger Phoo. Whether you are just starting out or have been playing for a while, there is always something new to learn in Ark. In this video I show new players how to begin in Ark: Survival Evolved! This is going to be a 3 or 4 episode series where I cover just about everything new and old players should know in order to get the best start in Ark: Survival Evolved.

I started watching your videos when I first started Ark about 1000 hours ago. Seen all of your ABC videos and a ton of your series. Started so many characters I can't even count them. Still learn something new when watching your videos. I work full time and have to take care of family but I'm here when I can be. Thanks for everything Phlinger :) On to the next series and the next beginner guide.
Over 3k hours and still here to support and maybe pick up something new.

New players, also consider LOWERING the xp you get. I found myself unlocking things with a new level, then I would spend time trying to get what I need to craft the new thing I unlocked, but would get 5 more levels doing that, so I kept unlocking things that I didn't have the basic resources built up to realistically craft, so it's easy for your levels to run away from where you actually are in your game... If that makes sense.

I really thought I was loosing it & was the only one getting lost & eating up my entire winter season working & rushing home to play Ark. seems everyone has a addiction. Mines playing Ark. best game I’ve played. Thank you for a great video I finally ran across could’ve used this years ago lol. Look forward to watch anymore.
Crazy to think that I've followed ark since 2016, while never getting to experience it until 2020 saw the game slowly become what it is. I remember when the swamp and tundra were added to the island followed by the volcano being completely reworked.
For the flaws that ark has, I'll always come back and play more of it
I, too, have very fond memories of my journey through early access-ARK. The pre-sickle era, for example, when fiber was used as currency on the server I played on, because it was so damn tedious to gather the stuff in large amounts. The introduction of the breeding mechanic and how obsessed some of the players became with it (there was one dude who set up his base in the snow biome and was focusing a ton of time on breeding nothing but Dire Wolves). Or the issues one could have when landing and dismounting fliers - before the ability to land the flier before dismounting it was a thing. Or when I stepped out of my cozy wooden house the day after the Spino was put into the game and found one of them wandering around almost on my doorstep (the surprise lasted only for a brief moment, of course, because of a sudden case of death, but it must have looked funny from the outside). Also some more annoying moments, like the "chinese invasion", but the good far outweighs the bad with this game for me.
@@clefsan I nearly forgot about the flier dismounting before they added the ability to land. It was always fun taking bets on how far they shoot off
@@jasoncarter3182My very first time trying to get obsidian from the volcano to take back to my base near the central southern coast: I flew there on a Ptera, dismounted near an obsidian rock, and the ptera flew halfway down the slope before landing right between 2 T-Rexes. Lets just say it was not a successful Obsidian run. lol Having to cross half the island on foot with nearly no equipment was an exciting adventure, though. Running with Raptors. Cavorting with Carnos. Sightseeing with Scorpions. All the good stuff...😇

I sure wish I had found your help videos when I first started playing. I figured out without any help, how to make a fire. What I couldn't figure out was how did I get it lit. It looked like it was made with wood so what did I do to make it burn. While I was trying to figure this out, night fell and I got killed by what I now know was an ichthy (stealy bird) ornis. The next problem that made me put up the game for a few years was really bad lag. Then my Techno brother moved in and built me a better computer. My how time flies. LOL

So whenever I add too many mods to my single player I get a fatal error when trying to log back onto the single player and validating files doesn’t help so I have to completely restart all my progress and it’s very frustrating, so I’m asking how many mods do you recommend I use so that I can beat a map for once with out a complete reset
About 6-7k hrs in ark and I still love these lol
IIRC, Crafting Skill isn't just the quality of gear you make from blueprints, it's also the quality of the Custom Consumables you can design.

If you're asking "what should I play on?" The answer is PC. (I'm a PS4 player). The interface is unquestionably set up for PC and the item transference and menu navigation is kind of cumbersome and I ENVY how quickly I see PC players move inventory around. Lack of Hot-Keys makes things harder too: having to pull up action wheels to perform actions that PC players have a dedicated key for. And, I imagine, it's a more stable platform, where you will encounter less of the dreaded blue screen. Whatever you do, it's an incredible game, and you'll have fun!!

atm I watch season 4 again ~ episode 156 or so, We Beat the Alpha Bosses Yesterday first time ever and now we are prep for the Overseer.
whats that list or config you said will make things easier and quicker to reach in a few hours instead of days?

“This is a really safe spot!” Someone seems to have forgotten about the occasional giga around there :p (rare, but it happened to me). Unless Rag changed that spawn? I had that experience before the desert update

I love the way this survival guide. Can you do survival guides for other maps I.e abboration. Just saying, I find surviving other maps easier than abor. And idk how to even get started
"everybody poops, get used to it" is also a very good advice for new parents

How do i get rid of the glitch on the game i cant see in the game sometimes on the Xbox? I love your videos BTW ❤
Quick note on the Weight stat: it's easy to over -level your weight, but then when you tame a dino, it doesn't have anywhere close to your weight stats, so you'll weigh them down without giving THEM a bunch of points in weight first. Especially early game when you're riding raptors and other smaller mounts.

Not sure which to buy - Evolved or Ascended? Any tips?
Evolved servers are being shut down for ascended, lol. I'm also a beginner.
@@DraconisSmith You can play in non official servers? Or single player?
But I agree. Ascended will be supported for a long time.
@KamleshMallick I believe it's only official servers being shut down as per word-of-mouth and if course singleplayer will be untouched. I'm quite excited for the arrival of the new game.
My opening screen is nothing like yours! I can only join a server. Where is the General page where I can change and pick my character?

No story mode, it's a sandbox with an in-game story supported by subtle things.
Been playing for 6 years and I just now learned that oxygen also increases swimming speed

So hard to play on console. Everything looks like it’s so smooth on pc. The menu on console is super hard to navigate
I love the survival part but I'll never understand dinosaurs. I've never wanted to ride or own one. Idk if you can kick them but that would be nice.

not sure why I am dying SOOOO fast...i see a tooth bottom right and now a bone...I can't find any information on how to fix either of these...I finally got some food in me but i still only live a minute or less...not being eaten by animals...just dying
This game is punishing!!! Stressful to get started but fun. I thought I ready for Ark after dipping my feet in survival games like Subnautica, Valheim, NMS, Enshrouded but I was NOT ready. Lol. I got a tiny shack built, some tools & weapons, and a camp fire but I keep dying of starvation. Lol
Fallout 4 could use buildong system from this game.

Theres never anyone playing when i sign in on pc. All servers are either 0 or 1 player
I'm currently download in survival with the thing with 3 other Spaniards to wear off. But I wouldn't want me to get into creating a count or in things. I already hope you actually. Do the step by step for san an email account up okay

So I shot a trike with 15 trank arrows and it still didn't sleep realy like this game but I just don't understand it at all 😂

There was a sarcosuchus chasing me and I made it stuck to my campfire allowing it to take huge damage,after that I keep circling around it and killed it with my pickaxe

What's the difference between Ark: Survival Evolved, and Ark: Survival Ascended? Because the price difference is huge.
Ark: SE is a 9 year old Complete Featured Game made in the Unreal Engine 4, Ark:SA is an Early Access title and not feature complete remade with more stuff in the Unreal Engine 5.

The dinosaurs that want to eat you are fast and PERSISTENT the main reason I uninstalled this game twice lol as soon as I finish a decent 2 story thatch house, boom infected raptors and alphas spawn in down the road and will constantly follow me

Ark "could be" one of the best games ever. However, it gets only a 6/10 from me due to the incredibly high number of bugs that still exist after years. From simple minor annoyances to major glitches that flatout stop gameplay such as getting stuck in floors. I won't even touch on how poorly the servers run.
Anybody wanna start a server with me ? I’ll set everything up would just be cool to beat the game with some people
