On the subject of river rocks, you can also find a good source of metal in the small clusters of rocks that spawn on the ground in open areas. They can spawn near water sources and in open plains type areas. At the 5:42 mark you can just barely see them in the background of the large metal deposit next to the large rock behind the metal.
Another Equus note: it's really hard to chase them, as they are faster than you when you are sneaking. So, try to position yourself in their path and crouch- let them walk up to you then feed them and hop on!
Wondered to see if you were going to go into the taming method for the dinopithecus. some of the new dinosaurs, taming method for them is absolutely crazy on crank. On a unrelated note, I wished you had been able to catch the game crash at the end of The Underdogs on the island. That would have been your pinnacle of ABCs of Ark. Showing all the newbies what it is like to get ark'd. As always, thank you Phlinger, enjoy your company and your work.
Quick note: if you can tame an Equus early on it will be the ONLY knock-out method you use for a while. I was level 5 and knocking out Rex's and Brontos, it felt very empowering lol.

Question. When I go to launch ark it takes almost 5 minutes before the game even shows up. How do I fix this? Sorry for putting this here. Can't find a solid answer from google.
Unfortunately, it is a very large game file and will always be slow to load. If you have both a magnetic hard drive and an SSD, store ARK on the SSD for faster load times
Since everyone is stuck playing single player and official is shutting down! Can you show the single player settings to have your world as close to official as possible!?
So how long does it take to tame dinosaurs? I got Ark Ascended the other day and tried to tame a Lvl 4 Pteranodon and the taming percent never left 0.0%. I put raw meat in its inventory, and even force fed it some at one point and the percentage didnt change even after like 10 minutes.
Hey bro I'm 99% sure you've already found your answer but just in case lol Don't force feed as it replenishes the dinos hunger levels. We want to let the hunger level drop until the dino eats out of its inventory on its own. It won't eat if it's got a full stomach. As long as you have the correct food type, just gotta wait
How come your wild dino levels go 5, 10, 15, 20 etc etc but the way my wild dino level go is 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10 etc etc? (P.S. the highest level dino i get is like 108? why?)

Just leave everything default and don't select "single player settings" in the menu.
