It helps a lot to understand the Show. Because some elements of the Show or Video are closer to the real meaning than you imagine. Think about "Mein Teil" and the Pot with Flake. The video is related to the relationship of the band members to each other at that time. Shortly before, the band had its probably biggest fight and it was not sure if the band would break up. The band members have talked things out and have been going to a relationship counseling on a regular basis ever since. In the video you can see at the beginning at the mountain stream how suspicious the other members of the group look at Till. In the end they stay together until they reach the summit or until the death of one of the group members.
ToSa 252 The Mutter video was not one of the reasons for the trouble. It was a result of the trouble which occurred while recording and writing for Mutter. Till only appeared in the video alone because no one else wanted to make a music video then as they were all so exhausted and angry from the whole fiasco. He did nothing without their pernission as I've see some people state, and in fact he didn't want to do it. This can be seen in the behind the scenes video where they explain how the video came to be and in indepth interviews where Schneider and Richard in particular explained the issues during the making of the album. I agree though that the tension and fallout from the Mutter album lasted for some time.

While the video tells a story of commitment and being loyal comrades until the bitter end, even in the face of suspicion and treachery, the song lyrics can be understood as either a brokenhearted love song or a song about addiction to either love or drugs. "Ohne dich kann ich nicht sein" (I cannot be without you) and "Mit dir bin ich auch allein" (With you i am alone too) is a pretty stong contrast that hints to either him being addicted to drugs, because he cannot live without them, but they also destroy his life or maybe hint towards a abusive relationship in which he loves his partner and he doesn't want to let go, but his partner hurts him in so many ways. Another hint towards this theme is "Ohne dich zähl' ich die Stunden" (I count the hours without you) meaning that he is impatiently waiting and "Mit dir stehen die Sekunden" (With you the seconds stand still) meaning that once he gets what he is waiting for, time comes to a halt, followed by "Lohnen nicht" (they aren't worth it), as if he was longing for spending time with someone or somethign that feels good in the moment, but isn't worth it in the long run, such as the rare peaceful moments in a abusive relationship or the short high of consuming drugs, because in the end both will destroy his life.

It wasn't shortly before. They almost broke up during the making of Mutter which was 2001. This is from Reise Reise which was released in 2004.

Meaning of the lyrics aside, this video for me goes right to the heart of Rammstein as a group and why they are still together after 25 years.

I haven’t done the Tarja version yet but I have done videos for both versions of Ohne Dich. It’s easily in my top 5 favorite songs.
