    I can see these being very useful for night flying for orientation etc, plus the ability to be able to toggle them in flight is useful. I agree it would be better if they could be controlled via a pwm signal or alike for non FC flyers. Stay safe Lee

    Wow... Pretty strong LEDs indeed, Lee! 😬
    It should be fantastic for late flying! Really nice! 😃
    Great review as always!

    I hope Menace RC in a next version of this offers the ability to indiscriminately put colors anywhere. I'm a traditionalist and red and green for port and starboard just makes sense to me, also I love your suggestion of pwm control would make us a bang-up little piece of hardware

    Hi Mr. P Great video on the menace rc L.E.D's , most of the F.C's I use on my quads have a L.E.D's output. But I was thinking about my Great Planes Spirit Elite 3M Glider, I could install them under the monocoat, it would illuminate the wings great. Would be nice if I could change the pattern to a pulse using a switch in the radio. I could always add a F.C and use the L.E.D's pad. Thanks again for the video and information.

    Nice.... Good to hear it doesn't get too hot. Is there reverse polarity protection?

    You should be able to drive the EN pin with a PWM signal from a flight controller or RaspberryPi. You should then be able to dim or slowly pulse the LEDs based on how you drive the EN input.

    This looks like a great product thanks! I’m a bit puzzled by how I might power it though? Fixed wing for night flight I would probably want the 8 LED which needs 6s voltage? But my aircraft generally run 3s? Another battery is going to add huge weight ?

    • @Painless360
      @Painless360  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      4s to 6s is what I can see on the diagram for 8 LEDs. You could run 2 x sets of 4 LEDs..

    Could you plug this in to the balance lead on a 3S battery??

    • @Painless360
      @Painless360  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Possibly. Checking here the current draw for the two white LEDs I have here on 12.6v is 420mA.

    Hey I have a question it's kind of a technical question and I'm thinking you may be the one to answer analogue video has audio sent back to your goggles dji does not is there a stand alone TX that could be added to transmit the audio out to some sort of device kinda like short wave or FM freq

    • @Painless360
      @Painless360  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm not aware of anything. If you you find something, please let me know

      @@Painless360 it doesn't sound like a very difficult thing to accomplish does it ?

      I believe something along this line would work of course there is no range with bt but what if it could connect via bt to the FC and record the audio to the dataflash chip that's at least some what useful I don't own a gopro and if I did I wouldn't strap it to my drone and if I did it wouldnt be any fun so I rely mostly on the dji dvr which doesn't record audio so my videos are all silent lol

    Needs 1 red, 1 green for fixed wing flying.
    Yep see, you agree with me. 😂

  • @sidd8310
    @sidd8310 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    No pwm :( shame, I dont use or need FC in my planes. I'll stay on my regular leds using a rc switch from BG.

      Yeah it sounds like a separate battery just for these lights is in order the power draw seems excessive

    Can I power these directly from my f405 wse flight controller? ✈

      Via the battery/ESC power pins yes.

    I was just wondering did you measure the operating temperatures? I have a scratch built foam plane but its made from 5mm under floor heating insulation (running inav fc) and I'm now thinking of setting it up for night flying just concerned about the lack of heat dissipation with it being insulation.

    • @Painless360
      @Painless360  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Message sent. Temps in operation are good.

      I had the same thing, I was hoping to bury them in an assassin where they will get no air flow
