Thanks! Ever since I was a kid I've always liked the big ole' garden tractors. Wish they still made them. Now its throw away mower from box store, or diesel 4x4 sub compact.

So I found a running 1971 simplicity tractor with blade, tiller and sickle mower 14hp motor any idea what to pay for it? Guy told me to make offer

Hard to say without seeing the tractor. It all comes down to your areas pricing, condition, attachments, and ultimately what the buyer and seller are both willing to agree to. If it’s 14 hp and from 1970 it’s definitely not a PowerMax. Sounds like maybe a Sovereign.

Just picked one up from the scrap yard. How do I know if a loader, mower deck, tiller....can fit it, where do I go to find attachments, I am in utah. What and where can I get a carburetor for it? The one it has is all torn apart and sitting in what is left of a ziplock bag.

Simple Tractors is a good site for Simplicity and Allis Chalmers tractors. Tons of information. Your best bet for parts is Ebay. These tractors are around 40-45 years old at this point.

Really Simplicity did make off brands for Allis , Dutz Allis and Monkey Ward . But comparing or even putting this little tractor against International Cub is just putting it to far . Simplicity would more be comp to Case ? Ingersoll or the old Speedy X something like that . Simplicity is just like any other competitor . The reason why that Simplicity could sell their mower and small tractors is because they can make them cheaper . But at a price of the construction and material that suffer . There was a old saying that goes like this . " You get what you pay for ! " Out of all mini or small garden tractor I would still pick Gravely over a lot of them . There is not one little tractor that can do what a Gravely can do . Only when Gravely was made by Gravely .

According to my research the Powermax line was created to compete against the IH lowboys to be used on large estates. The Powermax was much bigger than any of the other Simplicities. I also have a Simplicity Sunstar and have had several Case/Ingersoll hi-wheelers, and a hyloader. They are all big no doubt, but the Powermax is heavier, wider, longer and is in general about the biggest GT ever made. You should check out my Super GT video. I think you'd like it :) I show and say which gt's would be comparable to the PM line.

The International Cub was a much heaver tractor than the Simplicity . Simplicity may have said or took note that they are competing with the International . Just to make them selves look good and tried to full garden farmers into that Simplicity thinking . It's advertising . But in fact that the Cub was much stronger and heavier tractor . With that extra weight of the cub and with the 4 cylinder water cooled engine the Cub even lasted longer . So was it foolish thinking for Simplicity to tell people that there tractor going to out match the CUB . Well no , But for farmers and garden farmer they knew better . So how did Simplicity sell their largest garden tractor . One thing they did not sell a lot of them . Not as much as they thought they would . There was companies that sold attachments with Simplicity name on them . A back hoe and a front bucket . But still they was to light of a tractor for those to work right . That kind of stuff was left to heavy equipment like a Case 580 or I should say a 580 case back hoe and loader tractor . So wear does the big Simplicity lay at to have a true comparison and that leads to the other largest garden tractor . That would be the Case and the Ingersoll . So all for Simplicity lying in advertising and marketing people that knew what true garden farming did not buy these tractors . The people that did buy these cheap tractors was new to garden farming and people that was to stupid to know better . Then there are the people that thinks on the cheap side of things . Some of these people learned from their mistakes and some just got fed up and just stopped gardening . Thanks to companies like Simplicity . This was the real reason why they stopped production . Afterwards Simplicity still selling smaller garden tractors / Lawn mowers . But it is vary hard to have both in the same platform . But a lot of companies did this and most of them did not do ether well . You ether have a choice a vary good mower or a vary good garden tractor . There was a few that was both like I said . I know of one that did both and did those well . That company was Steiner , Like the Steiner 410 ,420 , 430 435 and now I think they have the 445 . These things was vary heavy and they was all true locking 4x4 and articulating . All the attachments was on the front of the tractor . But everything has a price and we pay for that price . A new Steiner is I believe is around $40,000 . But still cheaper than a over blown 100 hp tractor that cost well over $100,000 now .
