    Hi Josh, Your post inspired me to do this on my AP2. Couple of points to add to help others. The guy who said your stick boot was missing was correct. Someone had definitely been in there before and not replaced it. There was also a foam surround missing, which I took out (but replaced later) so it would not get grease on it. Following you video I removed the centre consul and disconnected the electrics. There is a corrugated rubber boot beneath the leather cover to keep crap put. The Honda engineers are great because it was dead simple to remove. They put 4 arrowheads on the circular plastic holding ring to show you where to prise it up and doing that carefully made it just pop out! Once removed there was a rubber cover over the three bolts. That pulled off easily with pliers. I then just undid the bolts leaving it in neutral and then into 3rd to get access to the last bolt. I put it back into neutral to get it out. It pulled up easily. Before taking off the plastic bits as per your method, I cleaned it all in white spirit. As pointed out by another commentor, there is a ridge on the front of the plastic bit which needs to be at 'the 12 o'clock' position. There is a groove in the metal gearbox casing for this to fit into. I reassembled it all in 'neutral' and once I'd remembered to put in the new spring it went in easily. Just reverse the procedure when reassembling all the bits. The whole thing took 90 minutes, start to finish.
    But, oh! What a difference. It was always the only disappointment with my S2000, but it now drives just like everyone says it should. Without doubt the S2000 is one of the best kept motoring secrets ever! 👍

    Great vid., I actually did this recently before watching your video and it made a huge difference. SIDE NOTE - The shifter rod has a black rubber bushing that goes over it (I think yours is missing) held in by a white plastic ring/collar. BUY THAT! It makes shifting much more firm any gives it a click-in feel. Your shifter has way too much play right now compared to mine (although i'm sure it's feels than before). Cheers

    • @LoveLikeaHurricane
      @LoveLikeaHurricane 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I agree, his has too much play when in neutral. The rubber with the white plastic ring gives it some rigidly cause the rubber holds the shaft

    I didn't see you remove or reinstall the boot that's supposed to go around the lever and snap into the trans tunnel, I'm assuming whoever was in there before forgot to put it back. That would explain how all the dirt got in there and ruined the bushings, which made your shifts harder. Better order the boot and install it ASAP or you'll be prematurely wearing out all the parts you just changed out. Nice vid by the way!

    • @JoshPooreReal
      @JoshPooreReal  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      dipchit83 there's a number of things that can be effecting the issue. Do you have any specific issues? I went as far as replacing the master and slave for my clutch along with the pressure plate, friction disc, and throw out bearing. That's where most of my issues were resolved. This was something I wanted to do first as it is quick and easy.

    is it stiffer? mines quite stiff anyways 117k miles... hmmm.. or is it smoother as in easier to drop in gear... i have to use quite amount of force to change...

    • @JoshPooreReal
      @JoshPooreReal  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      I had just changed the master and slave recently, and this was kindof an after thought. But it was a big difference. Changing the master and slave really made the bigger differences, but this surprised me.It feels like the previous owners took it to the track frequently. I'd say just do it, you're not hurting anything and it doesn't take long
