I don't know what the heck a "Demiurg" is, but that's a cool looking ship. With all the retro revivals GW is doing lately, I hope we'll see a new BFG edition some time with some cool new models.
I think the fluff for the Tau is actually very, very interesting, when it involves interactions with the Imperium, because it really helps to highlight certain important features (and differences) with the Imperium in ways which other alien factions don't really do much to show.
Dauntlesses are great for killing wounded ships without shields or escorts, three lances each is deadly. Of course one shouldnt all ahead full them into the muck....
I have always liked BFG. One of my favorite of the old GW games. I actually have a Demiurg and some of the manta style Tau ships that I still need to paint up - might just have to move that up on the to-do list now.
Just played my first game of Battlefleet Gothic today with some old models my friend had in storage from when this game was still alive. Surprisingly hard game! Very fun though, sick to see that the BFG remastered community literally digitally remastered the whole rulebook and have it available for public use! Look them up, they did awesome work to keep this game alive!
They're real glass cannons though. If Owen hadn't made that disengage or if I'd just actually been able to roll dice he'd have lost his one carrier and the game was in the bag for me handily. You just have to accept that it's a Carrier army and mitigate losses because when you get to them they collapse.
Tau also hate massed nova cannon batteries which can hit them at long range. Imperials can take sufficient ordnance to just launch fighters to block the enemy bomber waves. Then shoot the Tau with their superior guns.
Well actually Imperials have the BEST ordance spam in the game (with Torpedoes) and Chaos also has very good boarder spam. Its just that I guess Ash doesnt like to play that game. Essentially Imperials can sit back and launch torpedoes while also having a few Nova Canons in case the enemy doesnt want to come to you.
You should totes play some Dropfleet Commander by Hawk Wargames. Super cheap starter sets (comparatively), gorgeous models, and a unique rules set for a space ship combat game.
I'm pretty sure you did the bombers wrong around minute 10. If ships have base contact, the combine turrets, also two bombers are going through, one turret active, no fighters, so its 2w6-2 because the turret subtracts -1 from each die, NOT 2w6-1
the Demiurg ship honestly looks likes its backwards. Also, Ash, you sure Tau use normal warp travel? Coudlve swore they used a much slower but more "conventional" FTL travel.
Where did you find all those models of ships from this dead game ? And how much did you pay them all ? How much does it take to paint all of them like that ?
Ugh. Boxy Tau ships. Never liked those designs much. Much prefer the variants from Forge World that look like manta rays. Still.. BFG is a really fun game, I hope they bring something like it back one day. Maybe with less marker spam. That always was awful. I much prefer the Firestorm Armada way of doing ordnance. But now that is gone, too. aaaaah.... x_X By the way, you realize that BFG measures distances in centimeters not inches?
I think with Chambers helping Hawk Games to put out Dropfleet Commander, we might not see an updated BFG anytime soon. Though rumor mill says they might bring it out as a boxed game.
GW has said BFG will be coming back at some point. Considering they've already brought back Blood Bowl, are soon to release Necromunda and FW is working on Adeptus Titanicus(all 3 games being on the same list as BFG), I think it's safe to say we'll see BFG re-released further down the track.
There's just something about seeing a notification for BFG batrep that brightens up my whole week
It’s awesome finding a channel with battle fleet gothic
We've played a lot of it! :)

Think Dwarves in space. Short, tough, loves shiny stuff.
Oooh is that why Ash called them "not Squats" in the video? That makes sense now!

Imperial: These are our glorious Dauntless Light Cruiser of the Imperial Navy!
Player: It's Dong

Hold on, if Owen is rolling for "Lock On" how does he replenish his ordinance every turn? Doesn't he need to use the "Reload" order for that?
Great battle, catastrophic explosions should happen more often!

How cow!!! Owens rolls! Does he just save up his good rolls for BFG?
This scratched an itch I didn't know I had. Good game guys!

I feel tau is so much stronger than imperials that is isn't close. Spitting out wave after wave of 4 plus bombers is ridiculous

Horhe Vamp ,ya ash likes balanced lists, Owen likes to get the cheesiest spam meta in any game, I assume that's got a bit of rivalry between them
Shouldn't Owen be using the "Reload" order to replenish his fighter & bombers? They don't automatically launch every turn.

Can you do a tyranids vs tau game

You’re right but they did it extra wrong as sword class frigates have 2 turrets each, not just one!
is this bfg:r? Turrets deduct bombing runs from EACH die, not from a whole wave's combined roll.
i think they play original rulebook plus armada
I know. It was a sarcastic comment meant to address the horrendous rules errors they keep making.
more of this plz
the Demiurg ship honestly looks likes its backwards.
Also, Ash, you sure Tau use normal warp travel? Coudlve swore they used a much slower but more "conventional" FTL travel.
They 'skim' the warp in tiny jumps as they don't have the ability to make long ones like the Imperials do.
www.belloflostsouls.net/wp-content/uploads/2016/09/bfg-tau-02-demiurg.jpg
I thought you needed to guess the range of Nova cannons before you fired them?
That was in the original rulebook. It actually made them too accurate so they replaced it in the first BFG supplement with the Scatter rules.
Thank you!
Where did you find all those models of ships from this dead game ? And how much did you pay them all ? How much does it take to paint all of them like that ?
There are could be some ancient original GW models that they conserved.

trading sites and eBay!

I think it is hilarious that Owen had the Demiurg ship flying backward.
In that case they're flying backwards in the video game too. www.belloflostsouls.net/wp-content/uploads/2016/09/bfg-tau-02-demiurg.jpg
they're flying in the right direction, just look at demiurg cover art in armada rulebook
Why is the demiurg flying backwards?
The big cutter is on the front I believe.
