I live near Boston MA, zone 6b/7a. I plant my spring Potato as soon as the soil is workable in my 25 gallon Grow Bags. 1/3 peat, 1/3 compost, 1/3 last year's grow bag soil. I add in some Espoma granular fertilizer (Bone meal, Blood Meal, Tomato-Tone) and typically aim to plant seed potato March 17th (St. Paddy's Day!). I planted Yukon Gold, Purple Peruvian, Red Bliss, and Ruby Crescent. usually, large 2 seed potato per bag and 2 of the smaller variety. Three 25 gal. bags
I harvest when the plant dies back (Usually 1st, or 2nd week July for the 1st bag, then, harvest maybe 7-10 days later, for next, and 7-10 days for last bag. I refresh the soil in each bag, and replant seed potato immediately. This gives my spuds to Mid to end of Oct, before I harvest, for the 2nd time.
I have a few videos on TH-cam about the whole process.

Can you plant the potatoes you just harvested from your spring planting for your second round ? Or do you need to let them sit etc and therefore need different seed potatoes for your second planting

@@christinecapolarello987 I usually have some potato I start chitting out, about 3 or 4 weeks before my suspected planting. I suppose I "could" but I usually don't.

Potatoes have to go through a natural dormancy period. To speed it up Wood Prairie recommends putting them in the refrigerator for 4-6 weeks. I did that last year and it worked. Depends on the variety’s dormancy period.

@@thebeginnersgarden for me, I usually have some saved from a prior harvest. I store them in the cellar, in cool conditions.

I have not had any luck with growing potatoes. I have some organic potatoes that are staring to sprout. I think I will try a few and see what happens. I also live in AR. Looks like your back is doing better. Blessings ❤️🌺

I had the same results with my potatoes. I live in north central Texas. I used grow bags but I think what went wrong was the type or variety used.

You mentioned storing your fall potatoes in the ground- harvesting them in spring- and then replanting them as seed potatoes. My question is , could you help explain why you need to harvest them and replant - would they grow if you just kept them in the ground from when you planted in fall ?

I harvested to see how many I had. I didn’t replant because my purpose was to store them and I didn’t want my potatoes to grow in the same bed the following year. But if left alone, yes, often they will sprout on their own when the time is right.
