And India’s original name is Bharat/ Bharatvarsh, and it existed since 300 BC in archeological history and as per old epic texts, basically in literature, name’s origin for this land is way much older. It doesn’t matter whether it was called Mughal empire or something else, collective identity of people living is this regions was always Bharatvasi/Indians.
      Also Mughal empire only ruled North India, there are southern, norther eastern and western part also where different dynasties ruled.

    It's quite something to make little of the English invasions of France - the last time the French invaded Britain successfully was in 1066. Edward III started the Hundred Year's War with France (Crecy, Sluys, Poitiers, Agincourt etc) because he was claiming the French throne for himself - as did Henry V, who actually got the French King to cede France to England. And those invasions were full-fledged campaigns of aggression and terror, Edward III famously burnt a swathe 20 miles wide across France in order to force the French army to fight - and those famous English victories nearly wiped out the French nobility.

    I am not anti-English, But I am Scottish and it gets on my nerves when people think England and Britain are the same thing. England is just part of the island of Great Britain. England is just a part of the island of Great Britain. Referring to England as Great Britain is like like thinking Texas is another name of the USA.

    Saudi Arabia: In the First World War the Royal Navy supported operations both at sea and on land against the Turkish forces in the Hejaz, and of course Lawrence of Arabia and other British officers were embedded with the Arab rebels and blowing up trains.
    Japan: Besides the 1945 occupation, British warships bombarded the towns of Kagoshima and Shimonoseki in 1863, including landing forces at the latter.
    In the Second World War, British forces at land and sea were definitely in the thick of things in French North Africa, so I'd say that Operation Torch resulted in the invasion of Morocco, Algeria and eventually Tunisia. In addition, English forces in the 17th century occupied Tangiers and attacked Tunis and Algiers, and the Royal Navy led a multinational force that bombarded Algiers in 1816 to compel its ruler to release European slaves.
    Portugal and the UK are allies under a treaty that goes back to the 14th century, but it wasn't in effect in the late 16th century until the 1640s due to the Spanish king also occupying the throne of Portugal. Hence, ports in the Azores, mainland Portugal and colonial Brazil were attacked by English warships in the Elizabethan era.
    Why Korea wasn't included I'm at a loss, as UK troops fought hard with the United Nations force in the Korea War...if the South didn't think this was an "invasion" the North certainly would.

    It’s so weird but on my Dads side there are quite a few red heads and my own father had red hair as a kid. I would love to know about my ancestry. I think it would be easier to track the European side than the African side probably. Would be interesting to know who my ancestors were

    I think the word "Invasion" is being used in a very broad term that deceptive....all these places did not have wars. There were various treaties and agreements to take on British law and rule to be protected from others close by invaders. Smh. This is why whites in general have delusion of grandeur about all this stuff. Nothing is ever told as it really happened. Power words are used to suggest a conquering people that conquered by force which didn't happened. Like they lost against America when America wasn't fully developed which tells you that when territory is not familiar they use other methods to get what they want. This gives the idea they spilled blood and that's not even remotely close...they would have gone extinct easily.

      @@jjwatcher What makes modern English different from its' earlier variations is a heavy influence from the French language, so yes, even the general populace. Words like money, denim, advice, orgin, honesty, habit, beef, chamber, liberal, modern, utensils, sport, war and too many more to list here are ALL originally from FRENCH. Some linguists have even argued that English is a Creole language due to heavy Latin and French influence. And as far as genetics go, do you actually think the French nobility that took over England in 1066 kept to themselves or do you think they had plenty of side dalliances with the locals?

  • @vaahtobileet

    "there's quite a few Anglo-French phrases that we still use, isn't there?" A large percentage of the English vocabulary comes from French. 30% or something.

    • @ofallmyintention9496
      @ofallmyintention9496 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's likely around that much, yeah...There is also a lot of Latin, since the Romans occupied what is now England for 3 1/2 centuries. English is odd, in that, the structure is Germanic, but the vocabulary is predominantly that of Latin and its language family--especially French, Spanish, and old medieval/vulgar Latin itself. If not for the crushing defeat of the Spanish Armada in 1588 or the thirty years war between 1618-1648, it could have been much different, too.
