The Sonic power-up could also change the coins texture to be rings, and with the health bar idea, Sonic would drop rings (or coins) upon being hit. Also for Samus, I think she should be able to drop bombs in morph ball form, and the charge shot would work like it does in Dread, it charges for as long as you hold it, and fires upon releasing the button, it can also be fired in one of eight directions.
As a Metroid fan I'd like to mention some Samus abilities that could be interesting to work around with in Mario Maker 3. - The speed booster and the shinespark, (pretty niche for puzzle and kaizo levels tbh) - Plasma Beam (penetrates enemies) Wave beam (penetrates walls), Wide beam (let's you shoot 3 shots simultaneously instead of one), charge beam and Ice beam (it freezes enemies) - Ice missiles, to allow more control under freezed enemies (this is kinda similar to the ice flower from nsmb) - Gravity Suit + Space Jump. This combination will allow Samus to move freely under water, without having any limitation, this could make water levels a gimmick instead of something niche and horrible, at least in some levels. - Morph Ball and bombs, (ik, bomb excavation isn't fun), but there's a weapon that can lead to Break this kind of scenarios, the power bomb. - Special bricks and blocks for some of Samus abilities. And also, special dors that would only be open with some specifics abilities (and they could even make them compatible with Mario's power ups, like, for example a red dor that needs misiles to unlock could also be unlocked with fire flower shots) - High Jump and morph ball jump. - When you collect a power star, you can use simultaneously The screw attack, the hyper beam and the shinespark with the speed booster charged. (I hate that this could be used in refreshing levels). - Grapple beam (spider man kind of levels, lol) I think many abilities and weapons should be nerfed in order to work, because seriously, with most of them combined Samus is s literal killing machine that can break many levels without effort.
Something you could do to balance all those abilities is to make the Mario powerups give you Samus’s abilities as permanent upgrades while playing as Samus. For example (assuming SMM3 has more Mario powerups than 2) mushroom could give you morph ball or missiles, fire flower for charge beam or wide beam, ice flower for ice beam, leaf for grapple beam, p balloon for space jump, hammer suit for plasma beam, frog suit for gravity suit, mini mushroom for bombs or spider ball, etc
quick idea for the samus power up - maybe in morph ball mode, samus can place bombs to detonate after a delay? besides making samus smaller, thats the main utility of the morph ball in the main series so
Here's my own list of items that would be pretty cool: SMB1: Master Sword / Link •Basically the same as in SMM2. Angel's Feather / Pit •He can shoot sideways and upwards. •Listen, I never played Kid Icarus but it looks like he matches the artstyle. SMB3: Garlic Pot / Wario •Based on his appearance in Wario Land: Super Mario Land 3 - he can Ground Pound and shoulder bash. •How and why did you not give him his signature shoulder bash. Morph Ball / Samus •Based on a thing I saw on the internet, Samus starts with only the morph ball and standard beam, but can collect other items to gain her other equipment, like the Gravity Suit, Charge Beam, and Screw Attack. E-Tank / Mega Man •By default, Mega Man only has the Mega Buster (with Mega Man 6 style charge shot), and Rush Coil. •By collecting other (non-E-Tank) items, Mega Man can amass a handful of Special Weapons that can be cycled between with the Spin Jump button. SMW: Lollipop / Kirby •Kirby can fly infinitely. You complain about balancing, and yet the P-Balloon is right there. •Rather than inventing new abilities, inhaling enemies could give Kirby classic abilities (including a few that were not in Kirby Super Star), such as Needle from Spinies, Hammer from Hammer Bros., Wheel from Koopa Troopas, and Water from Bloopers. •Alternatively, he can stack with items for abilities. Island Egg / Yoshi (Playable) •It's Yoshi's Island what do you want from me. Sonic Monitor / Sonic •The Blue Blur. In addition to tremendous speeds, Sonic can also use his Spin Dash, and maybe also the Drop Dash. NSMB Mushroom / NSMB Mario •The thrilling sequel to the SMB2 Mushroom, this item brings polygonal action to the Super Mario World style. •NSMB Mario cannot Spin Jump, but can Ground Pound and Wall Jump. •It also serves as an excuse to listen to the original NSMB castle theme. NSMBU: Super Crown / Peach •Cry about it. Nook Leaf / Villager •The Slingshot can be freely aimed from straight forward to slightly less than straight up, like a more precise version of Link's Bow and Arrow. •In addition, Villager can pocket enemy projectiles like in Super Smash Bros. It's like the opposite of SMB2 Mario, though there is overlap where moving shells and Bullet Bills are concerned. Paper Mushroom / Paper Mario •You are now Paper Mario, as he appeared in a combination of Super Paper Mario and Mario & Luigi: Paper Jam. •Paper Mario can carry enemies and use his hammer and Ground Pound as a means of offense. •Paper Mario can also briefly float in the air, but not as long as Yoshi can. •However, Paper Mario's main gimmick is Action Commands, where he can get an extra boost if you hit the button just as you stomp an enemy. SM3DW: DK Barrel / Donkey Kong •Have you ever played Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze? Yeah, it's like that. •Move super fast, roll to defeat enemies, and have a whole barrel of fun. Splattershot / Inkling •Mario losing a power-up when he enters water is nothing new. •When morphed into an Inkling, the player can spray ink on the ground and certain Semisolid Platforms (the ones with a solid backing, not the ones with grates) and swim in the ink. •As well, covering enemies with enough ink will defeat them. Super Mario 64 Cap / Mario 64 •Yah wah hoo! •You can beat up enemies and perform other maneuvers that weren't in Super Mario 64. Smash Ball •SETTLE IT. •IN. *•SMASH!*
Inkling was done dirty in this video, so I have some ideas for them. You can shoot ink and ink the ground which you can swim in, you can ink the walls to swim up them, ink enemies to kill them, and you can throw splat bombs. Pretty simple at first, but I think it could make some really interesting level ideas, especially Kai o ones where you would have to ink a wall before falling
Honestly, I’d definitely give Wario his shoulder bash, and perhaps even his roll when crouching on a slope (both obviously coming from the Wario Land series). I think they’d make for some more interesting ways to break blocks (something both abilities were used for in the WL series, and that seems to be the core idea of the powerup as you’ve made it anyways; keep in mind that, at least in 4 [I haven’t played the rest of the games], you can jump while shoulder bashing and continue). That aside, great video, as always.
I remember when the Link power up was first shown off, I was so sure that they'd add a Samus power up. Big maze/Metroidvania levels are already pretty popular in Mario Maker so it would have been perfect. Also, we gotta get you to play Metroid and Wario Land. Nintendo R&D1 made some of Nintendo's best and most innovative games back in the day, and those two series are no exception.
@@GoldenDryBonesandStu At this point I'd take a low-effort $60 upscale of Wario Land Shake It, because Wario Land has been dead in the water for so long.
I think if Kirby was added, he would either be original Kirby without copy abilities or he would only use his established copy abilities which enemies fitting rigidly into them
Really liked the idea, and it is definitely something I would have liked to see (and I was kinda hoping to). I think a proper inkling power-up could be interesting, as it could let you shoot ink/bombs and climb inked surfaces. Or maybe a Waluigi power-up to show some love to the poor man (it could work similar to long Mario but add some moves like stomps or racket swings like the assist trophy). Imagine a fast-paced level with a Shulk power-up that let you change your speed, jump height, even give you a shield and obviously let you attack with a longer sword! The possibilities are truly endless
As someone who loves the Metroid games I actually have an interesting idea for Samus. Maybe instead of one item that allows Mario and everyone else into Samus like all the other characters, there’s a handful, each representing a different item from Metroid. Upon collecting one, the player would be given that ability and if they collect another, that item would be added to their arsenal. As for the items themselves, here’s a list I’d add: -Power/Charge Beam (Power Beam when uncharged, Charge Beam when charged. Power Beam damages enemies but takes a couple shots to kill some enemies like Hammer/Fire Bros or Magikoopas. Charge Beam does more damage and could activate switches when fully charged. All Beam weapons also stack, giving the Beams the properties of every individual Beam you have obtained.) -Ice Beam (Acts the same as the Power Beam but also freezes enemies, requiring one more shot to kill, but also allows you to stand on enemies and kill enemies that you couldn’t hurt like Lava Bubbles) -Missiles (Grants 5 missiles that act like full Charge Shots. Enemies killed with anything else from Samus can drop Missile pick ups that give 2 more, but you cannot surpass a total of 5 normally. You must pick up another Missile power up to get 5 more and add 5 to the maximum Missiles you can carry.) -Morph Ball/Bomb (Allows the player to “crawl” and drop low damage bombs that can break blocks.) -Spin Boost (Allows the player to double jump.) And here’s some more that would be more up in the air as additions or not: -Plasma Beam (High damage Power Beam that pierces enemies.) -Speedboosters (After running for a bit, Samus will speed up, being able to break blocks that she runs into it over. You can also jump while Speedboosting to go incredibly far. If you crouch while in this state, you can activate a Shinespark by jumping. Unlike in her home series, you can only go up with the Shinespark.) -Screw Attack (Will allow you to damage enemies and destroy blocks by jumping.) -Gravity Suit (Increases speed in water and allows Samus to go in Lava. Also could allow Speedboosters to be used in water.)
Aw man, now I wanna draw new Kirby hats for the enemies in Mario Maker but I’m miles away from my sketchbook and won’t see it again until Tuesday. The pain of an artist
Kirby would probably just use specific abilities, needle for spiky, and the spiky tops, wing for the para enemies, rock for koopas and buzzy beetles, since rock can slide down slopes, animal for Monty mole and rocky wrenches, elemental based abilities based on the element of them, hammer for hammer and sledge bros, and so on and so forth.
I think sonic should have the spin dash but also a different ability for each style. Mario 1 could have none (like Sonic 2), Mario 3 could have the peel out (max p-speed that you could hold in one spot), Mario world could have the drop dash, and NSMB could have the homing attack.
There were a lot of great ideas in this video. I'd hope for a lot more transformation power ups in the next game, but I'd honestly be content with only a couple if we got that Kirby powerup. Also the biggest one you missed is a yoshi powerup that gives you Yoshi's a abilities from his games.
6:02 for bowser you could've given him the ability to throw hammers my idea for the hammers is that it's exclusive to the original super mario bros style. maybe the hammer could break bricks but it has a random trajectory so it's harder to aim
1:47 i would also like to add Perry from Super Princess Peach so you can attack and pick up enemies because why not? 3:57 well the Shoulder Bash could prevent that by making Wario dash throught blocks. That is the biggest missed opportunity i've ever seen
Aye bud, nice video, but I will say that Wario has 1 more move that could give him a very different feel from Mario: His Iconic Shoulder Bash. This could be a move similar to Link’s Dash (But maybe instead of Down+ X or Y it could be X or Y while Running) where it would put you in a state of rapidly moving in one direction. However, Wario’s Bash could be able to destroy bricks (to prevent people making the exact type of level you described with the punch ability) and some more sturdier enemies like Thwomps and maybe Bullet Bills. Of course we would need something to make Link a viable option alongside Wario, so maybe Wario could be taller, not allowing him to enter small gaps. Weirdly enough, these changes could allow for some interesting Speedrunning levels, wrecking the enemies and opening new spaces in the walls. Add a On/Off Switch at the end and you could make a lot of levels in the style of Wario Land escape sequences. (Also make the dash walk on water both for comedy and to spite all 3 frog suit fans).
I made an idea for a Samus Costume in Mario Maker 2 A while back so here are her abilities. I should also note her abilities are based on Metroid 1. - The Samus costume would be the size of Super Mario and come with Super Mario's abilities. - Shots - Samus would shoot a basic energy shot that is as effective as a fireball. What makes it unique from other Power-Up Projectiles is that the shots travel straightforward with no deviation. Samus would be able to aim forward and directly above herself and she can have about three shots on screen at a time. - Missiles - By holding ZL or ZR you can use missiles. They would be able to break brick blocks, activate on-off blocks and other similar blocks, obviously hurt enemies (Does more damage on Bosses than regular shots), and can be aimed in all the same directions as the regular shot. What make them unique is that they are a consumable resource. You can only hold 10 Missiles max and the only way to get missiles is to kill enemies (Gives One) or get a Super Mushroom or another Samus Power-Up (Gives Five). - Screwattack - Samus doesn't need to land on top of the enemy. She can attack from any point in the jump (Barring expectations like spike and similar hazards as well as normally unkillable enemies like Thwomps and Boos). - Samus' duck has two stages. The basic duck (Which you need to do the fire shots at enemies low to the ground like Goomba's) and… - Morph Ball - By holding ZL or ZR while crouching, Samus will go into Morph Ball Mode. This basically gives you a crawl in a style other than 3D World. While in Morph Ball mode, you won't be able to jump but you can use… - Morph Ball Bombs - Pressing the run button while in Morph Ball Mode lays down a Morph Ball Bomb. These bombs go off about 2 seconds after being layed down. They can break Brick Blocks, active on-off blocks and other similar blocks and hurt enemies. If Samus is near a bomb when it explodes, it will bounce her into the air. However once in the air, the explosions of Morph Ball Bombs no longer affect you, making it impossible to do Consecutive Bomb Jumping, unlike actual Metroid Games.
The best idea is Kirby, that's cool with all the ideas of the copy abilities! I love how you included that some are just nothing because some enemies in Kirby just give you nothing, and the goombas are like Waddle Dees and the Cheep Cheeps.. well actually in Kirby's adventure, he can't inhale underwater and instead uses this whale-like spurt attack instead anyway, so he could also be like that underwater.
I feel like if you're going to create power up to represent another character, you should give them multiple abilities in order to represent the character for fully, like Link, rather just one ability. For example, take the villager. I think a good way to handle him would be to give him a lot of abilities that can effect the stage, but no way to directly damage enemies. To replact how Animal Crossing isn't really combat focused. (He would still have the slingshot you describe, with most of the same functionality, aside from the ability to damage enemies)
I feel a lot of these need more moves, take link, he has stab, dash, fall, bow, bomb and shield. A lot of these only had one or two. Pikachu could also have thunder and have it come down to him and it could break blocks and activate on off switches. Also, he could have quick attack, which wouldn't work as it does in smash but instead it would work like a long jump. Perhaps he could even have some Z Move. (Btw I feel if Pika was in he'd be in the near innevitable NSMB/2 theme as Pokémon games are only for handhelds (except spinoffs)
I genuinely think you have mastered your style you are going for. A while, like, a LONG while ago, I gave some suggestions, (mostly just removing SPoOooOokY jumpscares and noises) and boy, has everything improved. Very good videos recently, keep it up Odyssey!
It would be insanely cool if the Metroid power up would be more than that so that several other items could go well with it. For example a baseline samus would have only the shooting available, but you can put a “morph ball” or “rocket” item so you can make the dream metroidvania level
The blocks to add on Super Mario Maker 3: Super Mario Bros. 2 The Lost Levels [Japan] Graphics, SMB2J Beta Unused Graphics, Graphics from Szemigi's Super Mario Bros. 4 The Undiscovered Zones (2017) (Super Mario Bros. ROM hack)
3 characters for powerups: Captain falcon: would be his falcon car (just like the koopa car) but more controllable Shulk: give him a sword attack or something to attack (idk alot about xenoblade so xenoblade fans, extend to this) (will explain later) and just give him the monado but you can only get one buff everytime you obtain the powerup (meaning you keep the buff indefinitely until you lose the powerup, shield being a extra hit) and you can use all 5 of the arts every level. I dont know how well this will work with checkpoints but they can surely comply with it. Smash: can do extra knock back to throwable enemies (very niche, but idk) Buster: does 1.5 extra damage (with his attacking thing) Jump: you can jump 1.5/2x higher, more like the smb2 mushroom charge jump) Speed: give him a bit extra speed, but not as fast as the star (maybe as fast but idk) Shield: gives you an extra hitpoint They could also give him vision, but thats probably not gonna work. He might do a dodge for an attack sometimes but idk Marth: you can use counter (very basic, i know)
Wiggler should give you Kirby's Dream Buffet Kirby! And that Kirby should just get so big and explode the screen, the level, the world, enemies, the bosses, the background, the game, the console, the state, the country, the continent, the planet, the galaxy, the galaxy cluster, every single star, the universe, and finally, EVERYTHING!
An idea for the nabbit powerup . A level starts by you getting The super star, right next to you there is an erea blocked by thwomps, you see you need a to cimb a vine, but you if you kill a thwomp, you get a key and when you climb the vine using while having a key, you instead activate a key door that leaves to your doom, so instead you go platforming, then loose the star needing to play as normal toadette (what, you tought mario), to get the nabbit powerup, also triggering ON/OFF swith that changes your path you need to go back, then you "damage" boost threw the thwoms and do not get a key. Also an arena where you can not let the enemy (or o player) knock you of the stage.
My favorite idea for a character power up is actually a FE character, preferably Marth.Marth isn't actually alone because when you press down+B you can switch to Robin. When you are Marth you only have a attack that functions like link's dash and you have reduced height but buffed speed. When you are Robin you can charge a thunder to make it stronger but that attack has a durability system so use it carefully. Also it's not a type of a stance power up but more of a "one character doesn't move while you control the other".When one of them dies you still live until both die. This would be pretty intresting for puzzle levels.
@@ShimmeringVapidCoal Eh, i don't see that much potential with Corrin but i would be intrested to hear how would you make him a power up and who to pair up with him.
Now that the opportunity's come up I'd like to discuss one of my SMB1 original power-up ideas: the Magic Wand. This would be a simple power-up that gives Mario (or whoever's playing) Kamek's wand and robe allowing them to shoot magic spells forward at enemies and teleport a short distance in the air by pressing LR. And yes, it would still be able to transform blocks, but to keep it balanced it would only spawn coins using this method. There's other ideas I could mention but this is the only one that actually relates to another character so I'll keep it at that for now. P.S. I probably should've finished the Kirby section of this video before commenting this. I still get points for the teleportation gimmick though. Also Skipsqueaks should give Kirby the Cook ability when inhaled. If you know, you know.
For the Chain Chomp Kirby Power-Up maybe when the player hits a button it launches them forward in an attack that'll damage enemies. Maybe the longer you hold it the farther you go and more damage you do
I know this is kinda random but some enemies I’d like to see in Mario Maker 3 are the Onogie Eel, Bloopers, Sushi, Whomps, the Evil Piano from Super Mario 64, and maybe even a large Blooper like in Sunshine! I enjoyed your list, it makes a lot of sense!
The Pikachu power-up's attack seems like it'd be great for an electric flower. It'd be so cool for nintendo to add something like that. It'd probably just be a yellow version of the fire flower, but the Pikachu power-up would also be nice!
For a Mega Man power up you'll fire small shots by just pressing the button but when you hold the button and realase it you'll fire a much powerful shot
Personally I think they can only add one more before it gets too much. Kirby I feel would either be too complex or too simple. They can't have him use copy abilities so he'd essentially be another flying power up mixed with a cannon box that needs an enhale beforehand
Kirby should be able to obtain abilities from his game series. So if kirby at a spiny, he would get the needle ability, if he absorbed a skipsqeak he would get high-jump, ect.
Maybe Kirby's ability for the Chain Chomp would let him charge at enemies similar to the Chain Chomp captures in Odyssey except with the range the Chain Chomps have in the 2D games. Kirby would still be able to walk around when not using this ability.
I think would be cute if Kirby’s copy abilities had creative hats, like in the main kirby series. If he inhaled a bullet bill, he would get a cute little jetpack and would basically use the bullet bill mask (but it’s kirby so it’s better). For a zappa-mechakoopa, he gets a little sci-fi laser gun like Space Ranger, and so on.
As a Sonic fan, I actually have a suggestion for another ability that should be added if ever a power up that turns the player into Sonic is added: the drop dash (which you did show in the video) it's a kinda good alternative to the spin dash in certain situations but I wouldn't say it's the best alt but it's still good, just, not one of the best, another suggestion is that for the chaos emeralds to replace the star man, or the invincibility stars from Sonic, as it is still regarding invincibility but honestly, the stars kinda seem useless soooo I think it's better to settle with either Super or Hyper Sonic. That's all I could think of for now and I will put an "edit:" section if and just if I get a new idea.
It would be cool if you can also combine regular power ups with the special one like fire link frog suit sonic or even meowser think of the creativity with that much potential
12:26 i have an idea Swallowing chain chomp has a chain chomp attach to Kirby, which makes it help you against enemies like if you hold one using the SMB2 powerup. Not original, but its something
I just got a video idea of listing every character's most iconic attacks in smash ultimate(at least aerials, specials, tilts, smash attacks, maybe grabs, maybe final smashes not included, although some like zelda could get an honorable mention). Sometimes you could list two for its home series and smash if you know enough lore and there is a need for it, like jigglypuff is known for rest in smash but it works nothing like it in pokemon, and in the anime jigglypuff's main thing is singing which happens to put people in sleep, or yoshi who has an infamous down air but doesn't really do it in mario or yoshi games, expect it just wiggles its legs when doing its flutter jump, rather yoshi's main mechanic and attack is eating enemies.
I’ve beat super Mario Odyssey, and you control Bowser at the end. It is epic. I really like it. It is a big part of why Mario Odyssey is my favorite and why moon kingdom is my second favorite kingdom only being beaten Seaside Kingdom.
Idea for a video: Ranking all the stage backgrounds in Smash Ultimate. As I was watching I noticed that some bg's are pretty cool so that could be an interesting video to do
In my opinion a Olimar powerup would be cool: 1. He could pick up enemies and throw them like the SMB2 mushroom but he could aim 2. Some enemies he can make into pikmin like let’s say a cheap cheap would turn into a blue pikmin and follow mario in the water he could throw them in the water aswell. 3. If he’s in the night sky theme he was 30 seconds before you loose the powerup 4. If he does get a pikmin Olimar could throw them and they would damage bosses a little bit to make it different than the SMB2 mushroom That’s it for Olimar and because you didn’t ask I’m going to list what enemies could become pikmin and what their ability’s could be. Red- Can one hit normal enemies and immune to fire NOT LAVA. You would need to pluck a lava bubble. Blue- They can swim and attack in water. You would need to pluck a cheap cheap. Yellow- If there’s more than one they could line up to shock enemies or turn on on off blocks. You would need to pluck a bullet bill. (Sorry it’s the only thing I could think of) Purple- They can deal 1 damage to bosses in 3 seconds. You would need to pluck a spiny. White- They can be swim in poison and can’t take damage from it. Olimar would need to pick up a wiglur to get a white pikmin. Winged Pikmin: They could attack flying enemies and can fly over other obstacles. You would need to pluck a enemy with wings. Rock pikmin- they would be immune to thowmps and banzai bills. You would need to pluck a Monty Mole. (Ps pikmin can die to water, fire and other enemies) (Ps again in order to pluck enemies you would need to kill a enemy so like jump on a cheap cheap with the Olimar Powerup it would just fall on the ground rather than go off screen)
I think instead of having the spindash Sonic should have the drop dash, it fits better with Mario Maker’s controls and I can’t play Classic Sonic without it anymore because of Mania
I know there are a lot of videos of this topic but I want to see your smash character tier list. I know, not a very original idea, but I still want to see yours.
I mean if you killed the boss, and you playing as kirby you could swallow the boss after it dies and still be able to play as a boss. Although that might be strange to do because a boss falls into there death once they die
For villager, you could also put the pocket in. It would be very similar to Yoshi's tongue, but different, because pocket swallowing would be a bit weird.
I want a Super Nintendo maker. Probably the famous franchises like Legend of Zelda, Mario, Kirby, Metroid, and maybe a few more like Pokémon and Game & Watch.
Its me odyssey central, natetendo, and I'm happy to see you here is the more Nintendo character power ups(that i ask for as my gift) in your video 10.Donkey Kong 9.Banjo Kazooie 8.Yoshi 7.Fox McCloud 6.Megaman 5.Pac man 4.Shantae 3.Ness/Lucas 2.Cuphead 2 1/2. Captain Falcon 1.Bowser Jr/Olimar Make it on my birthday before (it's 4 days)
MY Character Power Up List: SMB1: Master Sword-Link. SMB3: Ability Star-Kirby. SMW: Sonic Monitor-Sonic. SML2: E Tank or Mega Helmet-Mega Man. SMBU: Diamond Sword-Steve.(Minecraft.)
I assume you haven't played it, but the PIPE DREAM for me was for Wario Land 4 style as the way that game is designed is so damn unique and itd add so much
the wario powerup should definitely make use of the shoulder charge, not just a generic punch, in my opinion. it would still be able to break bricks, obviously
I can kid of imagine Cheep Cheeps giving Kirby some kind of high-leaping ability. We all remember the infamous W2-3 in Mario 1, right?? As for Chain Chomp, what if the chain itself became Kirby's weapon?!
I got an idea for my man King Dedede, Dedede has four main attacks since Dreamland 1 being the Dedede head slide, the dedede inhale, the hammer swing, and the super dedede jump, and in kirby's adventure he hot the Dedede float, so for mario maker give him all of that with a limited float, he would be 2 tiles tall and 2 wide like the mega mushroom, now in mario maker you just have 2 attacks buttons(x and y) so for x give him the hammer swing and y the dedede inhale, the dedede head slide would be like link's bomb down then attack and the super dedede jump would be up then attack, and the float as I said would be limited, the hammer and jump should be able to break a lot of stuff compare it to a bob omb, and why not the boss music should change to Dedede's theme from Kirby’s Dreamland
I mean if inkling dies in water, then if they get literally anything else it's a power up that forces you to not play a water level. Seems like a win to me.
I feel like Wario should have his shoulder dash. It's his most famous attack
I was about to mention that as well
I think it would be even cooler for Wario to play like a exact recreation of the Wario Land games
Ok cool but what about his garlic and heavy weight
WAHHHH
Link already has that though
The Sonic power-up could also change the coins texture to be rings, and with the health bar idea, Sonic would drop rings (or coins) upon being hit.
Also for Samus, I think she should be able to drop bombs in morph ball form, and the charge shot would work like it does in Dread, it charges for as long as you hold it, and fires upon releasing the button, it can also be fired in one of eight directions.
You should make a enemy tier list that would be cool
I am in agreement. And also:
A TIER LIST RANKING PARTS FOR AESTHETICS. More love for semi solids and vines. :)
Good idea
Yeah but I'd stop watching the video if he puts Hammer Bros higher than F tier
He hearted the comment meaning he might just do it :)
And maybe a capture tierlist for mario odyssey too
As a Metroid fan I'd like to mention some Samus abilities that could be interesting to work around with in Mario Maker 3.
- The speed booster and the shinespark, (pretty niche for puzzle and kaizo levels tbh)
- Plasma Beam (penetrates enemies) Wave beam (penetrates walls), Wide beam (let's you shoot 3 shots simultaneously instead of one), charge beam and Ice beam (it freezes enemies)
- Ice missiles, to allow more control under freezed enemies (this is kinda similar to the ice flower from nsmb)
- Gravity Suit + Space Jump.
And also, special dors that would only be open with some specifics abilities (and they could even make them compatible with Mario's power ups, like, for example a red dor that needs misiles to unlock could also be unlocked with fire flower shots)
- High Jump and morph ball jump.
- When you collect a power star, you can use simultaneously The screw attack, the hyper beam and the shinespark with the speed booster charged. (I hate that this could be used in refreshing levels).
- Grapple beam (spider man kind of levels, lol)
I think many abilities and weapons should be nerfed in order to work, because seriously, with most of them combined Samus is s literal killing machine that can break many levels without effort.
how do you know what niche means while not being able to spell door correctly
@@Off-colorsign My main language it's not the English.
I'm sorry for being human and making mistakes like literally everybody else!
@@mike_280 big brain
Dam your a true fan of Metroid that means you’re based and epic.
quick idea for the samus power up - maybe in morph ball mode, samus can place bombs to detonate after a delay? besides making samus smaller, thats the main utility of the morph ball in the main series so
Here's my own list of items that would be pretty cool:
SMB1:
Master Sword / Link
•Basically the same as in SMM2.
Angel's Feather / Pit
•He can shoot sideways and upwards.
•Listen, I never played Kid Icarus but it looks like he matches the artstyle.
SMB3:
Garlic Pot / Wario
•Based on his appearance in Wario Land: Super Mario Land 3 - he can Ground Pound and shoulder bash.
•How and why did you not give him his signature shoulder bash.
Morph Ball / Samus
•Based on a thing I saw on the internet, Samus starts with only the morph ball and standard beam, but can collect other items to gain her other equipment, like the Gravity Suit, Charge Beam, and Screw Attack.
E-Tank / Mega Man
•By default, Mega Man only has the Mega Buster (with Mega Man 6 style charge shot), and Rush Coil.
•By collecting other (non-E-Tank) items, Mega Man can amass a handful of Special Weapons that can be cycled between with the Spin Jump button.
SMW:
Lollipop / Kirby
•Kirby can fly infinitely.
Island Egg / Yoshi (Playable)
•It's Yoshi's Island what do you want from me.
Sonic Monitor / Sonic
•The Blue Blur. In addition to tremendous speeds, Sonic can also use his Spin Dash, and maybe also the Drop Dash.
NSMB Mushroom / NSMB Mario
•The thrilling sequel to the SMB2 Mushroom, this item brings polygonal action to the Super Mario World style.
•NSMB Mario cannot Spin Jump, but can Ground Pound and Wall Jump.
•It also serves as an excuse to listen to the original NSMB castle theme.
NSMBU:
Super Crown / Peach
•Cry about it.
Nook Leaf / Villager
•The Slingshot can be freely aimed from straight forward to slightly less than straight up, like a more precise version of Link's Bow and Arrow.
•In addition, Villager can pocket enemy projectiles like in Super Smash Bros. It's like the opposite of SMB2 Mario, though there is overlap where moving shells and Bullet Bills are concerned.
Paper Mushroom / Paper Mario
•You are now Paper Mario, as he appeared in a combination of Super Paper Mario and Mario & Luigi: Paper Jam.
SM3DW:
DK Barrel / Donkey Kong
•Have you ever played Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze? Yeah, it's like that.
•Move super fast, roll to defeat enemies, and have a whole barrel of fun.
Splattershot / Inkling
•Mario losing a power-up when he enters water is nothing new.
•When morphed into an Inkling, the player can spray ink on the ground and certain Semisolid Platforms (the ones with a solid backing, not the ones with grates) and swim in the ink.
•As well, covering enemies with enough ink will defeat them.
Super Mario 64 Cap / Mario 64
•Yah wah hoo!
•You can beat up enemies and perform other maneuvers that weren't in Super Mario 64.
Smash Ball
•SETTLE IT.
•IN.
You didn't give wario his dash attack? Talk about a missed opportunity, that's literally his signature move
And replaces the problem of the excavation levels
Maybe Kirby could hold on to the end of a Chain Chomp's chain and have it attack nearby enemies for the Chain Chomp copy ability
I definitely wanna try at least Wario land at some point. If only they would make a new one….
@@Odyssey_Central So true... 😔
WarioWare is cool and all, but MAN we are overdue for a new Wario Land entry.
@@GoldenDryBonesandStu
At this point I'd take a low-effort $60 upscale of Wario Land Shake It, because Wario Land has been dead in the water for so long.
Wario land power up would be awesome for mario maker
As for the items themselves, here’s a list I’d add:
-Power/Charge Beam (Power Beam when uncharged, Charge Beam when charged. Power Beam damages enemies but takes a couple shots to kill some enemies like Hammer/Fire Bros or Magikoopas. Charge Beam does more damage and could activate switches when fully charged. All Beam weapons also stack, giving the Beams the properties of every individual Beam you have obtained.)
-Ice Beam (Acts the same as the Power Beam but also freezes enemies, requiring one more shot to kill, but also allows you to stand on enemies and kill enemies that you couldn’t hurt like Lava Bubbles)
-Missiles (Grants 5 missiles that act like full Charge Shots. Enemies killed with anything else from Samus can drop Missile pick ups that give 2 more, but you cannot surpass a total of 5 normally. You must pick up another Missile power up to get 5 more and add 5 to the maximum Missiles you can carry.)
-Morph Ball/Bomb (Allows the player to “crawl” and drop low damage bombs that can break blocks.)
-Spin Boost (Allows the player to double jump.)
And here’s some more that would be more up in the air as additions or not:
-Plasma Beam (High damage Power Beam that pierces enemies.)
-Speedboosters (After running for a bit, Samus will speed up, being able to break blocks that she runs into it over. You can also jump while Speedboosting to go incredibly far. If you crouch while in this state, you can activate a Shinespark by jumping. Unlike in her home series, you can only go up with the Shinespark.)
-Screw Attack (Will allow you to damage enemies and destroy blocks by jumping.)
-Gravity Suit (Increases speed in water and allows Samus to go in Lava.
I hope Mario maker three exists eventually and if it does, we need all of these
6:02 for bowser you could've given him the ability to throw hammers
my idea for the hammers is that it's exclusive to the original super mario bros style. maybe the hammer could break bricks but it has a random trajectory so it's harder to aim
The basic duck (Which you need to do the fire shots at enemies low to the ground like Goomba's) and…
- Morph Ball - By holding ZL or ZR while crouching, Samus will go into Morph Ball Mode. This basically gives you a crawl in a style other than 3D World. While in Morph Ball mode, you won't be able to jump but you can use…
- Morph Ball Bombs - Pressing the run button while in Morph Ball Mode lays down a Morph Ball Bomb.
(He would still have the slingshot you describe, with most of the same functionality, aside from the ability to damage enemies)
only odyssey can make a mario maker 2 video in 2022 and still make it enjoyable
What about DannyB Plays?
What about panga and DGR?
@@JestroGameDev I love Panga, too much DGR is annoying though. My favorites are Panga, Thabeast721, Royru and Ryukahr.
5:27 I guess 3d world Mario isn't included.
A Robin powerup would be cool...
Kirby is top tier at #1 for the costume seriously
It would be insanely cool if the Metroid power up would be more than that so that several other items could go well with it. For example a baseline samus would have only the shooting available, but you can put a “morph ball” or “rocket” item so you can make the dream metroidvania level
The blocks to add on Super Mario Maker 3: Super Mario Bros. 2 The Lost Levels [Japan] Graphics, SMB2J Beta Unused Graphics, Graphics from Szemigi's Super Mario Bros. 4 The Undiscovered Zones (2017) (Super Mario Bros. ROM hack)
3 characters for powerups:
Captain falcon: would be his falcon car (just like the koopa car) but more controllable
Shulk: give him a sword attack or something to attack (idk alot about xenoblade so xenoblade fans, extend to this) (will explain later) and just give him the monado but you can only get one buff everytime you obtain the powerup (meaning you keep the buff indefinitely until you lose the powerup, shield being a extra hit) and you can use all 5 of the arts every level. I dont know how well this will work with checkpoints but they can surely comply with it.
Smash: can do extra knock back to throwable enemies (very niche, but idk)
Buster: does 1.5 extra damage (with his attacking thing)
Jump: you can jump 1.5/2x higher, more like the smb2 mushroom charge jump)
Speed: give him a bit extra speed, but not as fast as the star (maybe as fast but idk)
Shield: gives you an extra hitpoint
They could also give him vision, but thats probably not gonna work. He might do a dodge for an attack sometimes but idk
Marth: you can use counter (very basic, i know)
Wiggler should give you Kirby's Dream Buffet Kirby! And that Kirby should just get so big and explode the screen, the level, the world, enemies, the bosses, the background, the game, the console, the state, the country, the continent, the planet, the galaxy, the galaxy cluster, every single star, the universe, and finally, EVERYTHING!
An idea for the nabbit powerup
Great video idea, can't wait to see Corrin in Super Mario Maker 3 :D
My favorite idea for a character power up is actually a FE character, preferably Marth.Marth isn't actually alone because when you press down+B you can switch to Robin. When you are Marth you only have a attack that functions like link's dash and you have reduced height but buffed speed. When you are Robin you can charge a thunder to make it stronger but that attack has a durability system so use it carefully. Also it's not a type of a stance power up but more of a "one character doesn't move while you control the other".When one of them dies you still live until both die.
This would be pretty intresting for puzzle levels.
What about Corrin
@@ShimmeringVapidCoal He could work too but, Marth is the face of the franchise and Robin could be more unique.
@@Lukkak09 I understand that angle, but Corrin would be awesome and probably more fun to play as.
@@ShimmeringVapidCoal Eh, i don't see that much potential with Corrin but i would be intrested to hear how would you make him a power up and who to pair up with him.
@@Lukkak09 Pair with Azura, main focus on water and dragon abilities
As a Sonic fan I think the Spin Dash should break blocks as well. Because it does that in games as well.
That level you ended the video on looked so cool
I'd like a Mewtwo powerup that makes you floatier and allows you to either lift objects/enemies or shoot Shadow Balls, maybe even both.
12:26 i have an idea
Swallowing chain chomp has a chain chomp attach to Kirby, which makes it help you against enemies like if you hold one using the SMB2 powerup.
How do you always exceed my expectations with your videos!? (Your videos are the best part of the whole week)
“Since no mainline mario can crawl”
Odyssey Mario and 3D world Mario who can walk while crouching: am I a joke to you?
I’ve beat super Mario Odyssey, and you control Bowser at the end. It is epic. I really like it. It is a big part of why Mario Odyssey is my favorite and why moon kingdom is my second favorite kingdom only being beaten Seaside Kingdom.
Idea for a video: Ranking all the stage backgrounds in Smash Ultimate. As I was watching I noticed that some bg's are pretty cool so that could be an interesting video to do
Little Mac, 2 tiles tall, pressing y will low punch,up and y will high punch, all punches doing 1 damage and being about as fast as links sword
In my opinion a Olimar powerup would be cool:
1. He could pick up enemies and throw them like the SMB2 mushroom but he could aim
2. Some enemies he can make into pikmin like let’s say a cheap cheap would turn into a blue pikmin and follow mario in the water he could throw them in the water aswell.
3. If he’s in the night sky theme he was 30 seconds before you loose the powerup
4. If he does get a pikmin Olimar could throw them and they would damage bosses a little bit to make it different than the SMB2 mushroom
That’s it for Olimar and because you didn’t ask I’m going to list what enemies could become pikmin and what their ability’s could be.
(Sorry it’s the only thing I could think of)
Purple- They can deal 1 damage to bosses in 3 seconds.
(Ps pikmin can die to water, fire and other enemies)
(Ps again in order to pluck enemies you would need to kill a enemy so like jump on a cheap cheap with the Olimar Powerup it would just fall on the ground rather than go off screen)
Oh my goodness Odyssey, I can't believe you didn't make a Mii Brawler power-up. My disappointment is immeasurable.
You forgot to mention a miku, sans, cuphead, donkey kong, mewtwo, Ike, tails, knuckles, shadow, mighty the armadillo, and waluigi power-ups for them
We need a sonic power up in mario maker 3
0:47 says the guy that made a two and a half hour long ranking video
You could give Wario his shoulder bash and bike
"I'm not insane"
My friend you ranked every single moon in super mario odyssey, we are beyond insane
Personally I would rather have the mystery mushroom come back, but because Nintendo knows how to disappoint us, this is fine
Another idea for the kirby powerup. Kirby can crouch through semisolids and bridges, like in his home series
Mario maker must be a steal for Nintendo
You pay *them* $60 to make *their* game for them
I mean if you killed the boss, and you playing as kirby you could swallow the boss after it dies and still be able to play as a boss. Although that might be strange to do because a boss falls into there death once they die
For villager, you could also put the pocket in. It would be very similar to Yoshi's tongue, but different, because pocket swallowing would be a bit weird.
For chain chomps, it should let kirby do a biting dash. Think of it like kirbys flaming copy ability, it could break some blocks as well
Garlic turning you into Wario, a maxim tomato turning you into Kirby, and a chaos emerald turning you into Sonic would be perfect
Ok but where is the dry bones powerup
I want a Super Nintendo maker. Probably the famous franchises like Legend of Zelda, Mario, Kirby, Metroid, and maybe a few more like Pokémon and Game & Watch.
Have you made an Odyssey 2 wishlist? I'm curious what you want in the next game, including what you want fixed from the first.
Its me odyssey central, natetendo, and I'm happy to see you
here is the more Nintendo character power ups(that i ask for as my gift) in your video
10.Donkey Kong
9.Banjo Kazooie
8.Yoshi
7.Fox McCloud
6.Megaman
5.Pac man
4.Shantae
3.Ness/Lucas
2.Cuphead
2 1/2. Captain Falcon
1.Bowser Jr/Olimar
Make it on my birthday before (it's 4 days)
10:22 HOW DID YOU KNOW I WAS SCREAMING ABOUT KIRBY
I think skip squeaks could let Kirby jump higher since they’re kinda known for that
7:17 not having a spin dash wouldn't feel that incomplete because in the original sonic 1 he didn't have a spindash either
Kirby when he eats the koopa car in 3D world has to give him the mouthful car ability right?
MY Character Power Up List:
SMB1: Master Sword-Link.
SMB3: Ability Star-Kirby.
SMW: Sonic Monitor-Sonic.
SML2: E Tank or Mega Helmet-Mega Man.
SMBU: Diamond Sword-Steve.(Minecraft.)
I assume you haven't played it, but the PIPE DREAM for me was for Wario Land 4 style as the way that game is designed is so damn unique and itd add so much
10:10 I personally think Pikachu’s jolt attack should be unable to break blocks but should be able to activate ON/OFF switches. Isn’t it electricity?
12:25 you could make chain chomp copy ability make kirby bounce around like a unchained chain chomp
Awesome! I hope Nintendo makes this come true!
Can’t wait for BOTW Link, Majorca’s mask link, classic link, hya Link, Zelda and Gandalf.
Have you ever heard of super mario logan reuploaded?
I think instead of copy ability for Kirby power ups. I think the more realistic thing is a cappy power up
the wario powerup should definitely make use of the shoulder charge, not just a generic punch, in my opinion. it would still be able to break bricks, obviously
One idea for Kirby's chain chomp copy is kinda like the nsmb mega mushroom
I can kid of imagine Cheep Cheeps giving Kirby some kind of high-leaping ability. We all remember the infamous W2-3 in Mario 1, right??
As for Chain Chomp, what if the chain itself became Kirby's weapon?!
You are a legend
0:20 Haha, Very funny Odyssey.
I DIDNT EVEN MEAN TO DO THAT LMAOOOOOO
For steve if he got a special power up like star then u can mine ground bowser he can go in his shield
Hey. While I like the idea for kirby they would probably be already existing abilities that are similar to the enemies
