I have the 2019 and it’s the same thing. But I have the EX-L trim. I paid $23,000 brand new. The ONLY issue I have is that it’s is slow to get up to speed. But once it IS up to speed, it’s agile and very responsive. I’ve managed to get 38mpg (combined) from it several times. So if you don’t want to spend a lot of $$ at the pump, this is the one for you. It’s been very practical and reliable with a smooth, comfortable ride.

Just got a brand new 2022 HR-V LX AWD as a new company car, and the way it drives is awesome. It's a little slow on the uptake, and the suspension is somewhat firm. The steering is good. With that said, the overall quality is excellent, and how it drives mimics a small vehicle, but not in a bad way - it's nimble. I'm 6 feet tall, and getting in and out of it is super easy - good leg and head room. I would highly recommend this vehicle. The brake hold function is something I didn't know I needed. If you drive a lot in town, you'll appreciate this feature. The CVT is something most people will need to adapt to - no, it's not going to blow up, lol, and no, the transmission isn't going out - it's how they shift gears.

I’m looking forward to the 2023s too. This design has been the same since 2016. I have to say that If you get the EX-L trim, you’re going to get a lot of tech that other car companies charge an arm and a leg for. Things like adaptive cruise control, lane keeping assist and my favorite…. The blind spot camera!!!

@@qpidrc9454 believe it or not, I went to Honda dealer here locally to lease an HR-V and the salesman who was probably 65-70 told me he’d been there selling Honda’s for 16 years and long story short he recommend strongly that I buy a civic or accord or CR-B. Basically he told me to steer clear of the HR-V because he said mechanically Honda made it pretty cheap to hit the price point and still make a profit. He said the civic was much better quality under the sheet metal etc. I like the other Honda’s but went to Mazda next door just to see and test drive. I fell in love with the refinement and quietness and steering with Mazda and I drive 4 different models, and I liked them all but decided on a 21’ CX-5 Grand Touring with premium package. It was $33,755 a/ destination. I leased it actually. I have 5100 miles on it now and I’m very happy with my decision. And no CVT best of all. But I think the Honda HR-V will be very nice, next generation! Can’t wait to see what Honda does. The competition is stiff!

I'm waiting to check out the new 2023 with EX trim. If one is forced to get a turbo version, then it's definitely out for me. I want reliability which turbos aren't. They have a history of oil dilution problems that are very expensive to repair, and require more frequent oil and spark plug changes. Turbos put a lot of extra wear and tear on the engine and doesn't last as long. If the 2023 EX is a turbo, then I'll get the nice 2022 EX instead with FWD.

I drove a 2022 Honda HR-V hybrid for my road trip from San Francisco to Yellowstone National Park. I drove over 2100 miles and I average 32MPG for my trip.
What I like: camping mode works like wonder when I sleep in it in camping ground when temperature was around 30 degree. It was comfortable to sleep inside while the engine is keeping the temperature around 75 degree. Well equipment with technology: lane centering, blind spot monitor, power seat for both driver and passenger seats, moon roof, Adaptive Cruise Control.
What I don’t like: 32MPG is low for a hybrid vehicle. Lane centering is not reliable. Seat is very uncomfortable. It is the worst seat I have tried ever.

I intentionally bought an hr v lx awd after seeing what Honda was planning for the 2023 model. The'23 is longer, taller , wider, less fuel efficient, equal in storage capacity, just as slow, and thousands more in price. I wanted a very basic , agile, car with an engine of proven reliability. I have a 2020 HRV Sport in Milano Red. Not the fastest vehicle but it has the typical great Honda driving dynamics and steering feel. It's small on the outside and rather spacious on the inside. One thing it lacks is an engine temperature gauge in the instrument cluster.

I’m trying to recall if I’ve owned a car without an engine temp gauge in the last 15 years. But leather heated front seats can be added later. I prefer the 2022 Honda. Its June 2023 and I am glad to find a 2022 that was a fleet vehicle with low mileage. The combined mpg is 30. Glad to have this model for the above reasons plus I like the body style better too.

I really like this HR-V Sport, like I did the previous 10th Generation Civic Sport Sedan, for affordable and sporty, well equipped transportation, but simplistic, without the unnecessary extras if you want to keep the price down, and have less potential things to go wrong, albeit, Honda and Toyotas on their dependable and popular models are reliable and generally trouble free, if well maintained and not thrashed and abused.
I would get this one over waiting for the 2023 if the latter has the new styling of the 2022 HR-V available outside of the USA.
If the USA specific model is not just options configured equipment that new one available elsewhere, i.e. similar to the new 11th Generation Civic styling, but instead of the hatchback, model, is raised with more vertical cargo space, with the Magic seats it would most likely have, I would go with the 2023.
This HR-V Sport has all the basic gear and similar that the Civic Sport sedan has, with the sport tuned suspension, same size wheel/tire combination, sporty exterior styling, including the spoked chrome grill piece that should be on all the rest of the exterior chrome trim and emblems.
Everything on the outside is just right to me, and the factory OEM rear side window tint is a plus.
The HR-V power is sufficient, but the Sport should have the 158 HP N/A 2.0L engine from the Civic Sport, as should the 2023, and maybe the 180 HP turbo 1.5L engine for the EX & EX-L.
The AWD version is + $1500, heavier, and approximately 1 second slower in 0 to 60 MPH and 1/4 mile, but good to have where it may be needed, and the power bump with the 2.0L engine would be just what it needs.
I live in Hawai'i, and the AWD would be good if you venture of the road a lot in rural areas, go to the beach and other remote areas here, but the FWD would be better if you do a lot of street and city driving. Also, the higher ground clearance is good in heavy rains and storms where certain areas started getting higher water levels.
The AWD has the better rear suspension with the rear sway bar. I am not sure if that sway bar is part of the AWD rear axle setup, or can be added to the FWD version. Nonetheless, the FWD handles great in itself.
I like the omission of the Honda Sense package in this trim level for myself, the old school, more secure and reliable keyed ignition, and the analog instrument panel gauges. The sound system may be lacking, but the infotainment deck is sufficient. The ugraded speakers, subwoofer snd amplifiers can be easily added aftermarket. The new HR-V Sport and higher trims should have the 8 speaker stereo in the new Civic Sport Sedan, as I heard it is pretty good. They should also keep the ingenious center console cup holder design.
If I got it now, I would get it in 2WD Aegean Blue Metallic or Modern Steel Metallic, and it would be a hard choice between the 2022 Civic Sport Sedan for about the same price because of the added cargo utility I would really make good use of, unless I was springing for a Civic Touring Sedan or Sport Touring Hatchback.
Presently, for its vehicle class and price, the Sport is hard to beat with the N/A 2.0L engine being the only thing I really wish it had, to at least put it in the horsepower range of the Civic Sport Sedan.

Got my girlfriend one for her bday.for 22,750 AWD EX model. I told her not to get that get the CRV. I think it's WAY under powered. 0-60 in the same time as a 98 Caravan. It has the same engine in it as the 2012 plus LX civics. The engine always being up near redline isn't good. CVT are junk. The engine is way way way way way outdated. I got a good deal because I knew what I was doing but it was going for 27k.

    • @tomeauburn

We bought the base level 2017 to get the 2.4 normal engine instead of the turbo . Those 2.4 are tanks and Honda sees them come in with 400k miles. I doubt the high rev 1.5 turbo will last anywhere near as long. It's our third CRV. Two owners now and the third only died when two deer went through the grill into the engine.
We bought our son the third level HRV yesterday. It definitely has more tech and better safety systems but is underpowered ride and has more power train noise. If his car hadn't been totaled we would have waited on inventory to increase for better pricing. For me I want a Telluride so I can tow a boat or small trailer.

You were driving the AWD version which I would never buy. With AWD you get slower acceleration, less MPG and cost about $1500 more when buying it. I don't live in a snow state so I would no way get that. With the FWD you get a 0-60 speed time of about 8.6 seconds, which is plenty fast for me. I love the innovative hidden rear door handles and the Magic Seats. If the new 2023 HR-V in the EX trim is an unreliable higher maintenance turbo version only, then I'll get the 2022 EX.

I purchased a used 2019 Honda HRV LX. Much of the features are the same. The tech is lower in mines than this 2022 but since my last vehicle was zero Tech it didn't bother me. I went to the dealership & was told that the 2021 WAS EXACTLY the same as my 2019. I didn't see what the magic seat was but I prob don't have it. I was initially ok with my purchase but still wanted a Suburu Forrester. It's hard to find a used Forrester without a zillion miles on it. The Hondo was less expensive. I was told parts & maintenance are less expense than the Suburu too.

The magic seat just means you can flip the rear seats up in case you wanted to carry taller items. I think its standard on all HRVs, so I think it should on yours no matter the year and trim level.

I would expect it to be like the Civic (engine wise) and with the upgraded tech, etc (the Civic model I want is the top of the line hatchback with the turbo option). If it is just like that one I will totally buy it. Good thing I am shopping way ahead of time before I need to buy. Just my two cents.

  • @stephenhendricks103
    @stephenhendricks103 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

Honda undeniably builds good cars. However, the subcompact SUV segment is among the most competitive vehicle categories and the HR-V has definitely aged compared to more recent competition from vehicles like the VW Taos and the KIA Seltos. It still sells well, largely based on Honda's deserved reputation for reliability but it's no better than midpack in terms of interior space, performance, and fuel economy.

Bought the third level up for my son yesterday. More tech than my base 2017 CRV. Ride and drive train noises higher but it's smaller. I probably would have waited to buy but he totaled his car. Waiting would probably have saved money as all the new cars have surcharges on them right now. We did negotiate about half of them off but the dealers just aren't getting many cars right now. It's is a great time to trade in a car or sell a car providing you don't need another one.

I would Not buy a new model year since there may be new design flaws that they may have to fix. On the other hand, prices are now inflated in 2021-22 due to a supply shortage and it may be good to wait since you might save some money in 2023 (?) If the redesign for the HRV is going to be that larger model that they now have in Asia (the Vezel), I don't think I would want it. Its too big. I may just go with the tried and true CRV.
