- This is an initial reaction/unboxing/running back to the guidebook in confused awe/exploration of what I think is an incredibly important and gorgeous deck....The Witches’Wisdom Tarot.
The Witches’ Wisdom Tarot by Phyllis Curott and Danielle Barlow was devised through their shamanic journeys undertaken individually for each card. It presents a reversed direction of the major arcana for the first time in tarot history.
It introduces powerful magic and wisdom across race and culture to bring us on a journey from a higher spiritual plane back towards earth and our core power where Mother Nature is guide.
Born of Phyllis Curott’s own spiritual path of Shamanic Wicca, activism for women’s rights and environmental issues, I feel it truly captures the power of now and our own divine creative force. SPOILER......I LOVED IT!

I've set the intention for this year to be the embodiment of the spiritual as a physical being. I love the simple imagery because it reminds me of a children's book and I really believe children embody their true & magical nature so freely and well. This time we get to embody this state of being with a conscious awareness and intention of doing so 🍎

You should read books by Phyllis Curott if you're on the path. Book of Shadows and Witch Crafting are really good. I'm currently reading her other book, Love Spell.

The arrival of this deck was like a light switching on for me. They have replaced everything I struggled with about the RWS with something I understand, something that makes sense. It's like they took a little peak inside my soul! I knew I'd love it for the art as I've followed Danielle for several years, have her Oracle and several pieces of art on my walls. I did read a friends copy of Book of Shadows by Phyllis many years ago too - I remember enjoying it but now I'd like to read it again. I had no idea it would be this great though! People speak of 'soul decks' and if there is such a thing - this is mine. I actually went through my collection and made an even bigger pile of decks to let go of as I no longer feel I need them 😮
Also did an amazing deck interview with it, a practice I've been in two minds about!!

Love these end points about disability! I just got my first cane the other day and it’s very emotional. I don’t really think about representation but this makes me think that representation would get a dialogue going to make things more accessible

What a beautiful walk through of this deck. This deck is special, I also had to stop when I first started reviewing the cards in the deck. This deck requires that you first become grounded before taking a walk with it. I love it.

So interesting - thanks for breaking this down a bit because I wanted to get this as I love Phyllis Curott's writing, but I decided to wait when I saw the system was different because I wanted to learn more about it first. Witchcrafting by Phyllis Curott is one of my fave beginner books. The Green Wheel oracle has been on my list for years too - such beautiful art work. It's really lovely to hear more about how it works so thank you for taking so much time to understand it and explain it. Beautiful deck. I'd love to hear how you get on with using it. 🙏 😊 Xxx

I'm reading Witch Crafting currently, though not a beginner! I feel reborn through reading this book!
I hadn't heard of this at all. Really enjoyed your oohs and ahhs and then coming back to explain it. This will be a perfect Christmas present for a friend who is a shamanic practitioner in the Celtic tradition and a bit of a kitchen witch. I'm not really into animal decks so I'm not sure if it's for me but it is really lovely.

Excellent review! I had the same initial reaction, but once I read the book, the re-ordering totally made sense. I love Danielle's artwork and her Green Wheel Oracle is one of my all time favorites. I'm looking forward to delving into this system and Phyllis Curott's writing.

Phyllis's books are WONDERFUL. I'm currently reading Witch Crafting, though Book of Shadows was really well done too.
I’m curious if you now understand what this deck is all about after studying it, reading the book and working with it. I actually don’t use any other tarot deck anymore. It’s revolutionary and on point. Once you read the book and work with the deck and your intuition, you’ll totally understand why the creators made this deck the way they have, including the ordering of the majors and the meanings of the cards.
Yea it’s fantastic and I totally get why the order is reversed and it resonates deeply. It’s in my top ten decks for sure ❤️
