  • In this video I show you how to adjust your Honda Accord hand parking brake cable. The steps to doing it are straight forward and easy:
    First, open the center console and use a screw driver to pop open the bottom cover of the console (leave the parking brake handle in the downward position). second, use a 12mm wrench and turn the bolt right in order to tighten it (you can pull the parking brake handle in the upwards position in order to see how tightened it is). Lastly, once the parking brake handle is adjusted to your liking, place the cover back over the bottom of the center console and you are finished. Now you have tension in your parking brake cable.

    Great vid. I did one for the Volvo V70 if you wanna check it out. BTW apparently, you can overtighten it and break the cable.

    wrong, leave that loose, take both rear wheels off, looks for the access whole for the handbrake adjustment on the rotar or drum. there should be a star wheel. adjust tight all the way by moving the star up or down. tighten your handbrake all the way. then back the handbrake down 6 notches on the star wheel. check service manual for how many notches to back it off. do the same for both sides. then go back into your centre console and tighten the cable as you did in the video.👍🏼

    Hi! I see some cars have a hole in the disc and with a screwdriver you can adjust from here, and i see you have the adjuster here, so do you have to the wheels as well? Or either like your case either like by wheel through that hole in disc? Or can have both? 2 adjusters??

    Hey, I know it’s not exactly what the video is about, but maybe you can help me with something. My handbrake works fine and has good tension, olny thing is that the release button at the tip of the lever doesn’t come out as far as it should. It still works but it’s unpractical and annoying. Thanks in advance

    when i try to tighten or loosen the nut the entire unit moves and I can't get the actual nut to move. It's like I somehow need to hold the cylinder part behind the nut to keep it still.

    This is for a 2016 Jeep compass the other problem is the button is missing and I pushed the spring in with a pen pen how do you fix that part get back to me it's an emergency still I'm having problems nobody has it in the auto parts store or anywhere and I don't know who to get to fix it I need to really fix it myself if there's a way you know to do that let me know fast

      I would suggest looking at a local junkyard to see if they have the part, or go online to see about replacing the shifter knob itself that comes with the new button that you are missing. this would probably be your best option

    I dont now much about cars but im trying to get into them. So when you tighten the bolt, does that actually tighten the handbrake to where the car doesn't roll?

    • @aqgh1
      @aqgh1 ปีที่แล้ว

      Simple answer, no. This adjustment will only allow someone to put the same pressure on the parking brakes with less lever travel or allow more pressure as the handle can go further back.
      However, in this video the answer to your question may be yes because the handle was bottoming out as shown so the correct pressure was not being applied to the parking brakes that should have been applied.

    I just mentioned that my handle is missing the button and doesn't click Plus I don't know how to fix it is it the same way to fix it like that it doesn't click at all will that turn into nut like you said in the middle of the console fix it and it's also missing the button how do I fix that answer me as fast as you can I need to do this it's kind of an emergency

    • @DaylyDriverDayly
      @DaylyDriverDayly  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      if the handle is missing the button you can use something to push inside the handle and release the shifter lever. you will need someone to check it out in person otherwise

    I have never understood why anyone would want their handbrake to go up further than 2 inches at most. It looks awful pointing up like that

    • @those_eyes
      @those_eyes ปีที่แล้ว +1

      They don't want it ...but if it's loose you have to pull the lever up until it stops...to secure the car in the stopped position!!!

    • @ThePower1037
      @ThePower1037 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Because if thr brake is too tensioned then it will rub, ruining fuel economy and wearing out the parts significantly faster.

      Rolls-Royce owners don't usually do the maintenance on there own car, if you can afford a roller I'm sure you can afford to pay someone else to do it 😉 🤔

    You shouldn't be pressing the E brake while pulling it...you need just to pull it . You only have to press only when you want to pull it down...

      That makes no sense. All that button does is release the ratcheting system inside the hands brake that locks it in place.

    • @zaydabbas1609
      @zaydabbas1609 3 ปีที่แล้ว +18

      Its literally personal preference, however if you are using the handbrake to start from a hill you actually want to be holding the button, there's no case where you can't press the button...
