Absolutely love Bulbasaur as a starter in this game. Already one of the best starters in general, but with Thick Fat, that removes two of it's four weaknesses, making it only weak to flying and psychic. Such a major buff for Thick Fat to not be restricted to a mega only ability

Honestly Inclement Emerald is one of the most underrated romhacks to play / nuzlocke. 4 badges down still deathless went with Chespin I heard how broken he can be in the e4 with shell smash, but still even as a staller for the first half of the game he's been amazing for that role too 👍🏻.

That some of the best roms for Pokemon GBA games that include all the Pokemon up until Gen 7 with every trainer having edited teams to include them, etc are made to be a super duper hardcore mode challenge? Why couldn't a modder just mod a normal Pokemon experience to update the experience without making it a headhitter? or is it only these "hard mode" modders the only ones to come up with the idea? lol
That is interesting! I mean, i think that the audience of people that enjoy ROMhacks are typically some pretty involved Pokemon fans, so i think it makes sense that the difficulty is spiked. There's also an easy mode to this exact game! I agree with you tho, most ROMHacks are designed to be TOUGH and it can be a little intimidating

But I want them to take this concept and just do a "What If" for a GBA game having all the newer Pokemon, add all the QoL stuff to it, but still capture that vanilla feel of it without making it tough.
Oh god I remember playing through this. Such a wide variety of mons and the over leveling mechanic was PERFECT to allow a wide variety to or strategies based on level. It’s tough tho, late game is pretty difficult all around

I wasn't playing a nuzlocke (and I was playing blind), and yeah, I did lose one to two Pokémon to Sidney, but Drake and Wallace were terrifying; I was brought down to my last Pokémon in each battles, aka Empoleon and Arbok respectively. Side note: Glacia was the easiest. Specs Empoleon soloed her team in hail and the only losing condition was a paralysis from Glaceon's Thunderbolt (thankfully that didn't happen).
Been playing this on-off for a few months and I do have to say it is deceptively difficult. 1st 2 gyms are okay but watson is something else. Even tho I had the documents to help, who wouldve known he'd put up such a fight. Same with Flanery. I got lucky with Flanery tho hahaha. She sends out torkoal 1st always and I just coincidentally had Staraptor out front. Intimidated it and mad it use the white herb which it was gonna use after an overheat. Made the run easier as well with palosand with sandstream made the fight easier since torkoal also sets up sun
