Keep going ! You're being intent and analytical about it, which is the most important/beneficial approach. I think map positioning and awareness were the big deal in this game: giving yourself too little space to comfortably grow the economy, not having much data on the perimeter of the opponent's base, and consequently maybe thus not anticipating the incoming attacks while leaving your military in a vulnerable position for a little bit too long. If you imagine, he's already castle age, so he's seeing your archers, and taking any time that you give him with that knowledge to not only bring out a hard-counter, but one that's a full tech tier above you . I reckon you should have turned back at that point (edit: or used the archers to scout the opponent's perimeter/unexplored map), and then tried to consolidate while you rushed to castle, and started to work on a transition - although admittedly that's rough, because it's accepting that you're on the back-foot. Take my comments with a pinch of salt - I'm a watcher, not a player online... so I could be talking bs. Although, following this series is encouraging me to get my hands dirty :)) . Many thanks !!

@@peterkirby7546 so welcome! I’m glad this series has resonated with you and others! I agree with your points, I also really think that my rhythm got thrown off with failing to get the boar as cleanly as I did. That just filtered through as I felt I was always trying to play catch up.

Tough loss for sure. Best part is you know what things to work on!

Some good analysis. Just some advice about feudal army, having no blacksmith upgrades last early feudal is really limiting how much damage your units can do, especially for archers having no fletching. Also having scouts to bash on walls to threaten breaking through to kill vils is really needed against a walled opponent or going immediately to castle for siege. Also basically no feudal army will defeat a castle age one unless it's extremely out numbered

@@williamschubert4819 thank you. Sound advice for sure, much appreciated! I didn’t even realize until you told me that I had no blacksmith upgrades and that is usually one of the first things I do 😞

Hey man, a few things I noticed that could help you improve.
At the very beginning, you have to aim for 6 vills in food. But you should try to make all 6 vills get food from the same sheep. Notice how you have one group of 2 villagers hunting sheep and the other 4 vills working in a different one. This is important because you are wasting a lot of food there. They are finishing earlier than they should, and you are getting less food than you should from them. That's why you run out of sheep waiting for your boar and you also don't have food for another villager. You should always try to get all villagers to work on the same sheep.
You need 6 villagers on food to be able to produce the food to constantly create another villager, so you want to maximize your early food efficiency as much as possible.
Just by doing that, you will be getting to feudal faster.
You should try to have only 4 villagers getting food from bushes.
If you are playing scouts, you will need as much farms as you can get, as they cost 80 food.
Remember 6 vills on food are enough to keep your tc producing, so you will need to start adding farms. You will need around 10 farms + 4 bushes to keep both your tc and scouts production running.
For this, you should send your new villagers to wood, and make them build a farm as soon as you collect 60 wood, or a house in the case you need as well. Try not to stock wood, but you will need to balance your vills between wood and food. Having a steady food income will allow you to stack more scouts, and keep your tc active.
Once you start creating scouts, could be a good timing for getting some gold. Once you have stacked 5 or 6 scouts, you will need bloodlines, which costs 100 gold. Mining gold before this point is kinda useless, as you don't really have anything to spend your gold on.
For your stone, you don't need any before castle age, unless you need to build a tower to defend a resource or do a tower rush. You already start with some stone, but if you are not doing towers, then you might want to start mining stone closer to the time you will go to castle, so you are able to get a castle as soon as you go up.
At 16:20 you already have 5 vills in stone, and you are missing 600 food to go up. Those 5 villagers would be way more productive in farms.
You're already late to castle and still missing a lot of food.
By the time you click to go up 18:24, you already have enough stone for a castle, and yet have 9 villagers getting more. You have a lot of stone just piling up there and giving it no use, and we still need to wait for 2 and a half minutes before using it. At this point, maybe using the market to balance your resources could be a good idea, but more important, I wouldn't mine stone that early.
And I think you also noticed, but you should practice your offensive. You mentioned you are just hitting the opponent's market, and how you should have scouted better. That's pretty accurate, always have to try to aim for a hole in your opponent's base. If you have archers you can try to find any resource close to the walls and keep his villagers busy with your archers. With your scouts, probably aiming for a palisade wall would have been a better option. But for me the most important thing is your early economy. It will help you get your scouts ready earlier, and having 4 or 5 scouts but 2 minutes earlier could really mean the difference in the game.
Cheers, and keep practicing, I hope you find this advice useful

@@damian.bourdin a lot to take in and digest! Having villagers work the same sheep is great advice. Also, yes I did notice that I had too many in stone and I’ve worked on correcting that. It’s these small details I need to notice and work on and I appreciate the time you took to write this! Thank you for your encouragement!

    >im humble enough to accept your advice
It sounds like you already know many of the things you need to work on. One recommendation I have though is to get double bit axe as soon as possible once you hit Feudal. Wood is far and away the most important resource in Feudal as all your food eco is dependent on it, you’ll have to add many more houses, and if you’re making archers you’ll need lots of it.

@@coxandrewj yes! I was good about the double-bit in my first match but not this one as I tried to be more aggressive with my military. As a previous commenter commented, I know I’ll improve in increments and once I get my ten matches in, I’ll be in a place where I can improve! I’m not so much focused on rating, just finding time and energy to play and have fun! Thank you, still loving your content!

Hey mate I have been back playing about 6 months since playing 20 years ago. I found and you may well find you get better in increments.
Some good things to take from the game
You walled up it wasn’t perfect but it was good enough.
    You made military
You played aggressively you didn’t just sit in your base until you got smashed.
    Things to work on.
Keep an eye on your army
    Support your archers with spears.
    Build more villagers
