When it comes to our story and healing, write often and edit well. Life has been just a rough draft so far and we are born twice - once to our mothers, and again to ourselves. The unexamined life is not worth living. 🙏☺️☺️☺️

Once I stopped telling my story, I started to heal 🤍
I began listening to what I wasn’t saying and it allowed me to connect to the darkness.
    That’s where healing ❤️‍🩹 begins.
No more hiding my true self from myself or others.
Thank you Esther Perrel for your wisdom.
    So grateful 🦋
I would tell my 18 year old self to always trust herself and what works for you. No explanation.

We live in stories, not in years. I forget who said that. Our lives are stories, ourselves and others are characters, we tell stories to others about what has happened to us, and about our lives, and whatever has entered our minds, our past becomes stories, and other people tell us stories. We forever tell stories in our own minds, even our dreams are stories.

Good therapy creates the environment and the conversations for narratives that for me were never heard, because of physical or emotional fear. These narratives became the filter through which all things were experienced. I believe in the power of stories and of the need for them to be heard, in order to create the space for new ones. I believe the grief I've felt deserves to be witnessed and heard before I can say goodbye to the stories that no longer serve me. I don't believe it ever ends, but that I come to navigate it with more kindness for myself and those who are part of my World.
Thanks Esther, you've kept me good company along the way and I so appreciate your desire to share.

Psychodrama is very powerful. As we express our new story, we create new connections in our neurology and change the way we feel about self and others. Thanks for your fresh insight and clarity into this subject.

In moment awareness is so vital. We all are nothing more that habitual creatures. Our tendencies are; to go onto auto pilot for reasons of comfort. It's a lazy, and ultimately costly pattern, which eventually leaves us wondering why we're in situations that we're in. Practicing and perfecting a strong sense of self awareness is the key to just about everything we will subsequently experience. Removing chance from the equation, and subsequently spending all this time, effort and heartache on wondering why and how all this bad stuff 'happened to us'... Unfortunately, by the time we realize all this(if ever), so many bad patterns have already been installed and we need to identify, remove and replace them. Like blockages, they keep us from experiencing all that is possible...
    There's so much to UNLEARN!
Thanks for the keen observations! 🥰

What you said today really hit home, I am a mother of three wonderful children, that is not to say that I don’t have daily struggles with who I am, what and how I am doing as a mother, how I can help them, especially my middle one, 16 year old. At times, I feel hopeless, at times, I feel I am connecting with him…. Life, my best teacher, and yet, I feel I am not learning enough, or, not understanding it enough…. I will continue listening to your talk. Please also share where you have your practice. Thanks for being there for so many of us.

There is an importance of telling the story… when you’re dedicated to personal growth and resolving old issues as we RETELL and examine the story, we begin to hear it differently…. and the emotional content of it shifts, at times drastically.

..We are story tellers, it is important to tell great stories that are inspiring & encouraging ..
instead - many choose to tell stories that are more like news report blasts.. We pick the items with most action & drama..As if we hope to be nominated for academy award. While these very dramatic stories have a big impact on us initially- they are in fact - not what really defines us as an individual - but rather what we do & who we became as a result of those experiences.
    > I recently switched from writing my daily journals in paper notebooks - to writing shorter sometimes on my iPhone notes. I love having the option to go back throughout the day & do rewrites - it feels liberating & empowering . 🌼🥰🥂💫

My question that perhaps y'all can help me answer is, if you identify a narrative (which is part of one's identity) that is pervasive and a net-negative to your person or relationship, what do you do with it? Discard it? Identify and destroy? Build a parallel narrative to overcome the current narrative? Learn to live with it? And then, how do you undertake the steps to achieve the goal?
Simply understanding and identifying for me at least, is not a workable strategy to overcome, because this is the stage in which I am stuck.

However, at 18 we are still under the "gravitational pull" of family members and others that we've been around and influenced by since we could walk and talk.... so would we trust this newcomer, our own self, coming back in just a point of time? Can we make an impression on our 18 year old self to get out of this gravitational pull of family, teachers and others? Maybe so, but it would have to be a very strong concept to do so in my opinion. I'd just tell myself....everything you think is bad, will pass, don't get too high or too low, as good and bad things all end and you'll be on to the next chapter. Not sure I'd be listening to me back then 🤣
