  • My last adventure of the summer! On Wednesday, August 31st, 2022, I set out from the Highway 60 entry point on the Western Uplands Backpacking Trail in Algonquin Park. I hiked this 75km backpacking trail over four days. The sunrise after my first night was spectacular, to say the least. This trail is challenging with many, many beautiful vistas along the way. I hope you enjoy this video as much as I enjoyed the experience and filming it, as well.

    This looks awesome and I've been looking for great and challenging multiday backpacking trips in ontario. If everything goes to plan I'm totally doing this route this summer. Thanks for the inspiration.

    If you derive such contentment from backpacking, I can only imagine how much more gratification you will experience from multi-day backcountry canoe-tripping. You really should try it because I know you'd love it.
    Cheers,

    Wonderful video! Totally enjoyed "hiking with you"! I shall have to consider this trail some year! I'm so impressed and amazed at your courage to hike alone. I would love to cultivate that daring in myself.
    Thank you for posting the video. I shall check out your other videos.......

      @@Womaninthewoods13 That is good advise. Perhaps I will try a two day, one night camping trip somewhere.
      Have you done the La Cloche Silhouette trail in Killarney Provincial Park? It is stunning and challenging and I love it. I've done the trail 5 times, but always with friends. If I could manage my anxiety of sleeping alone in the backcountry, I would absolutely love to hike the trail solo.

    This was an amazing adventure to finish up your summer escape from the city. Beautiful camps, beautiful views, and challenging trails. I am very happy for you that the weather was willing to cooperate and refrain from raining on you and turning the trails into mud bogs. I would say that you took full advantage of every minute of your summer vacation and while doing so, you provided some excellent video content for your eager TH-cam followers. Thank you Christina, you added enjoyment to our summer too. Now you can begin the next chapter of your journey of 11 years and seven months until bliss. Take care my friend and squeeze in a little relaxation now. See you on the next one.

    The tree that grew around the boulders was rather odd.
    Maybe you should call out for pizza, after walking for hours on end and then having to make the Knorr/Great Value combo? Well, you could have it flown in on the lake?
    I was going to set up a GoFundMe for your talking hiking boots, but later you did what I would have, duct tape them for the time being. You indicated you had another pair of boots, but if they are in the vehicle, then they might as well be home for the good they’ll do. Yes, on the tripping because of the shoe flaps catching on everything.
    Once again, you walk over dizzying height bridges, cross potential quicksand areas to get the in the daily mileage (kilometerage?), and not to mention wear trip hazard and non-OSHA standard boots during the hikes. What a trouper. 😊

      @Womaninthewoods13  ปีที่แล้ว

      Haha, it’s a jungle out there, Mister Smith! The shoes were in the car because I knew mine would go soon. A couple of days of flapping and duct tape aren’t the end of the world. I’m glad I had the back-ups in the car! And today I leave for my huge 40-day European hike/camp trip…woot! woot! Can’t wait to start! Thanks for watching and commenting! 🥰🙏🏼✌🏼

      Actually, I’ve started putting my Thermarest NeoAir Xlite sleep pad inside my sleeping bag in the hammock tent and wow what a difference. Much more compact (and I expensive) than an underquilt! Thank you for watching, suggesting and commenting, Mike! I hope you’re having a wonderful week. 🥰🙏🏼✌🏼

      @@Womaninthewoods13 That's not a bad idea. And if you have it, it's better than spending $300+ on the underquilt. For what it's worth I think my Jacks R Better, Greylock 3 (3/4 length) might pack down smaller than a pad. I remember receiving it in the mail, and thinking they didn't ship the underquilt because the box was so small. No bigger than a softball.
      Otherwise, you got yourself a new subscriber. I always enjoy seeing what other solo trippers are up too in Ontario. Enjoy the trails!

    What an amazing hike to end the summer!! I'd love to do one of these but I don't have the physical endurance/ability to do such long treks so it's really nice to see these Algonquin hikes through your eyes! I wonder if those green blobs are bryozoan. I've seen them in lakes in the Kawarthas. Anyways beautiful scenery always happy to see the loons 💜
