    Swiffer brand products have changed my life. The extendable Swiffer he shows is probably my most used cleaning tool. I don’t begrudge spending the money but, if someone invented machine washable Swiffer dusters they’d make a gazillion dollars.

    THe problem I have with microfiber is that once the cloth is full of dust (after 2 wipes), its impossible to clean that cloth again to reuse. Unless you spend time vaccuming the cloth after every 2 wipes which is tiring.

    • @CleanWithConfidence

      If you house is that dusty I would recommend vacuuming the dust with a vacuum and brush attachment first. Use the microfiber cloth to touch up.

  • @brittanywebster4154

    Something that could be worth adding, would be the difference with dry dusting and wet dusting. We live in a rural area in the mountains and the dust is a lot heavier. For our clients we could go to their homes a week later and it looks like we never did anything. Also there is a lot of fireplaces and wood burning stoves for the winter which add to the particulates in the air/dust. I find that just using a Swiffer is not enough. We will do the high to low dusting with the Swiffer, then go back over all the lower surfaces with a microfiber cloth and small amount of dusting chemicals. Do you have any thoughts on this process, to wear we would not have to double over the work? or just the dry vs. wet dusting in general?

    • @lorih7847
      @lorih7847 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Good question Brittany. I was wondering the same thing. We live close to rural area corn fields and in a drought also. The dust is just horrible. I dry dust and then a day or two later it's back. So hard to keep up with

I’ve had my lambswool duster for 10 years all I have to do is roll up between my palms of my hands and Wala it’s clean. Of course I do that outside.

    An alternative to a microfiber cloth is a piece of fleece cloth. It's very soft so I don't have to worry about scratching my furniture, and I find it collects and holds a lot of dust. I fold it over and use the opposite side, and as I do so, some of the dust on the dirty side embeds itself into the cloth so I can re-use the first side after a while. I have over 200 figurines and many bookshelves that collect big dust bunnies and it takes me a couple of hours to wipe them all down - the last thing I want is for it take even more time, while I stop and clean off the accumulated dust. I bought a length of fleece fabric and just cut it into a few large pieces.

    You say to use microfiber to dust surfaces. Do you spray the cloth with water or pledge or anything like that?

    • @CleanWithConfidence
      @CleanWithConfidence  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hello Eva! No ma'am. I believe polishing is what you are referring to. I still need to do a video about polishing. But whenever we use Pledge or something to polish wood furniture we use a dedicated separate cloth, apart from the microfiber cloth we used to dust, that is solely for polishing. The polishing cloth is typically just a regular cotton wash cloth. Of course we dont polish all wood furniture because there are certain types of wood finishes where it just doesnt make sense and honestly, just makes a mess.

  • @amritasrinivasan2929
    @amritasrinivasan2929 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Could you also make a video on wet/damp dusting (wherein dust is wiped off with a moist cloth or sponge, etc..). Sometimes people prefer damp dusting to dry dusting especially when it is stuck to the surface/ built-up over time that it's very hard to remove by only using dry dusting methods (E.g. Dust build-up on fan blades, Crusty dust patches on tables etc..).
    In some other cases, dust combines with grease to form a sticky layer on surfaces(especially in the kitchen) which requires additional work when simple damp dusting methods wouldn't work.

Be sure to line the back of the car with trash bags if you don’t have time to hang them to dry before bringing them back home. Does dust increase in the winter/cold months. I’ve noticed a dramatic increase in dust particularly on my pc blue light screen and Arcade1up lcd screens. I would say yes. Dust is mostly dead skin cells. In cold months your skin gets dryer causing you to shed more skin. Plus we spend more time indoors in the cold months so yes I could see there being more dust accumulation.

      I have never had alot of luck with that method. It has always created a mud like paste on them with the water combining with the thick dust. Maybe it just depends on the plant, thanks for the comment!

    Consider having the air ducts professionally cleaned, in addition to changing the filter(s).

    You are so funny! I don’t have an air purifier 😮. Is that the “air filter” you are saying we need to clean out regularly? Cause when I heard “clean your air filter regularly,” I was like whaaaattt?? Can you recommend one? Or do you have any videos on air purifiers?

    • @CleanWithConfidence
      @CleanWithConfidence  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes ma’am air purifiers have filters that have to be maintained👍
      The air filter I was referring to though is the filter that goes in your return vent to your house that goes with you central heating and air system.🙂

    I like to “collect” as much dust as possible and use the swifter dry pad to collect the dust on larger flat surfaces that I would otherwise use a microfiber towel.

    Is it true that the furniture polish is bad to use on certain furniture? Some furniture you can't use furniture polish. What can you use to get a good smell and good clean in your house without bad chemicals? How often shod we replace a new air filter and how often we need to clean airducts??

    • @CleanWithConfidence
      @CleanWithConfidence  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      How often you change an air filter depends on the house. I would check it at least every couple months though. Also, correct you can't use polish on all types of wood. And as far as smell is concerned, you can always burn candles, use fragrance plugins, etc

      Sometimes we do just depends on the wood. Polish is primarily performed after dusting though.

    I use a metal cat brush on my shag rug on the stairs. It collects tons of fur. Metal prongs do the trick. Also I use paint brush to clean niknaks.

    Anyone know some tricks I've heard of to keep dust down or basically it captures the dust. I know it evolves water, gel smelly beads, liquid soap and a dish but not sure of other ingredients or ratios? I guess you just set the bowls of this homemade stuff in a corner and its like a magnet for dust. I've had no lock online besides using gel beads and fabric softener pellets to make your home smells good. Im interested in dust not smell. Thanks any help!

    Seems to me that when dusting the walls with the microfiber on the flat mop, you could secure the microfiber by holding the loose ends together at the back of the mop head with clothes pins.

    How do you dust real plants?

    • @gglydie4242
      @gglydie4242 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I've used a damp microfibre cloth, so far, but I'm open to hearing other tips and hacks for this. Preferably a cloth that has never had any chemicals on it as the leaves might pick them up and suffer.
