    Chris, I've got a useful tip to share for anyone who wants to listen to their own music via USB. Since USB isn't listed on the music source menu under the sound menu, it is always losing its place and you have to start it all over again, because the USB ports are de-energized when the car is in deep sleep, like anytime you park without Sentry Mode enabled. It can be real frustrating. Here's an easy fix. Next time you enter the car after it has been sleeping, just wait until you see the USB icon display on the bottom of your screen (should only take a couple of seconds), then press the right steering wheel button and issue the voice command "USB". That's it! Your music will start playing again, right where it left off the last time you were listening.

    This is seriously excellent advice for new owners. I just recently realized how good the hold function is.. kind of game changing!! I agree about the charge scheduling, I really would like to see added to the UI, a clock face that lets you set the hours between which the car is allowed to draw power to charge while at home. And this need not conflict with the preconditioning and departure scheduling either. I hope they will implement something better at any rate.

    • @toddwright662
      @toddwright662 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I just keep my key card in my in my money clip with my license and credit cards. If my phone is dead or for some reason not connecting to the car (rare, but it does happen) I use the key card. I had to use the key card almost exclusively for the first few months of owning the car as my older phone would regularly fail to connect to the car as a key; this was solved when I replaced my phone. I don't think I'd use a fob; it's one more thing to grab every time I leave the house. With the overall reliability of my phone connection and the card as a seemingly bulletproof backup (and having wireless charging in the car for my phone increasing the odds my phone will be sufficiently charged throughout the day) I see the fob as a solution in search of a problem. Others will certainly have specific reasons the fob is a good solution for them.

      @traviswieser 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @@jlee222ballin I should clarify, this is for the AWD models and most older models. The new RWD Model 3 uses LFP batteries so it's much different to take care of and can be charged to 100%. For everyday charging, the majority of Tesla owner videos say to follow the 20-80 rule. (Don't go below 20%, don't go above 80%). However, Tesla's user manual states to charge between 20%-90%. If you have a home/work charging solution to plug in daily, then it is quite easy to follow the 20-80 rule to be safe, but if you drive a lot for work, 85-90% would be fine according to Tesla. Elon himself even says 5%-95% is fine, take that with a grain of salt. Level 1/Level 2 charging should be your main charging sources. Level 3 charging (Superchargers) should only be used for long trips.

    Spectacular job Chris! I really like your speed and conciseness. Your video is like reading 200 pages in 15 minutes. Great explanations! I picked up my Y 1 week ago. Here is FL, the heat is on. I live in a condo, park in a lot. I noticed that my cabin temp. rose to 135F yesterday and the overheat protection was on. I vented the window also to help drop the temp. I have been waiting for this car since 1996 when our company, an electric utility, had a Ford Probe (55 mile range) and a Toyota RAV4 (58 mile range). Tesla is doing it! Love your videos! I've had my long range Model 3 for over 4 years. Overall, it's a great car! But, what killed it for me is that it really doesn't travel well. In town - great! Cross country - super sucky! Charging is a BAD experience! Range is about 25% less than claimed (mine is a long range that never got "long range)!
    So my new setting is gasoline! I'm trading it in and going back to gas! I still have a deposit on the Cybertruck if it ever comes out! We'll see?
    Again, as an in-town commuter car, nothing is better! Nothing! But again, it sucks to travel in one!

    I had my Model Y in creep mode a couple days until I got used to the accelerator pedal then put it into hold mode. I did not want to push the pedal too hard in the garage so I let the creep mode roll the car to the correct point. I set my speed limit warning at 4 MPH so if I'm 5 MPH over the limit it bongs. I like to set that off when I go by a marijuana dispensary. BONG.

    • @JohnJohnson-hi3mx
      @JohnJohnson-hi3mx 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@anilkumar1971 it will start about 30 minutes prior so that the battery is nice and warm and ready to go. The cabin only takes about 5 minutes or less to warm up so it’ll be nice and toasty for ya much sooner than the battery. So in the case of 8:15, it’ll probably start to precondition around 7:45.
