    Life-long Irish supporter: Well done NZ, a good start to Robertson & Co's tenure. ☘'s win against the Boks was nice. Hypothesising about the Irish stars left at home is bs. You play to your full abilities with the best players at your disposal on the day. The proof of skill and commitment is in the manner in which they perform; lose, or win. We comitted well, right to the end. Mr Kidney got us on that track initially. France U20's were bloody awesome! What a display. God bless NZ 🏴‍☠☘🤟👍

    There was a noticeable difference in the speed of the ball clearing the rucks when Ratima came on. His pass is very Aaron Smith like. It made a massive difference in the end with helping run the English rugged. Finlay is very combative which is probably needed early with sides like England and SA.

    • @denmac5149
      @denmac5149 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      There really wasn't. Ratima played well but he wasn't any quicker than Christie. His box kicks were too shallow. His decision making wasn't any faster. Still held the ball at the back of rucks. No disrespect to Ratima, I definitely think he is the future but he didn't set the world on fire on his debut

    I agree with Jeff - keep playing DMac at 10. He played well and needs more time in the role. I think we should give Perofeta more time at 15 as well. BB is a known quantity, and this is a good year to test different players and combinations of lineups. I also wonder if we can play Rieko at winger again and slide someone else in at outside center

    • @lovemysport7902
      @lovemysport7902 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I personally don’t rate Perofeta, not even as a SR player but to be fair, he has filled in when required , in SR & ABs, & done a reasonable job but for me he has been around too long in the NPC/SR/AB scene without ever kicking-on since he was first announced as the Blues heir to King Carlos and tagged ‘Perafuture’ back in the day.
      Given the inevitable return of Will Jordan with the prospect of Ruben Love gaining experience then the ABs would have sufficient cover of 15 if you include the likes of Beauden, DMac & Jordie so Perofeta may find himself on the outer.
      Given that the likes of Fergus Burke, Aidan Morgan & Josh Ioane have recently announced their departure of NZ shores for NH deals, they could see the writing on the wall as to their future in NZ so good on them for taking their opportunities & I wish them all the best.
      Razor & co will already know when Mounga is returning & knowing what Beauden can do at 10/15, this ‘walk’ is about developing depth/experience/options so giving DMac more time now at 10 is important for me as an option/cover/competition for/with Mounga. The eye to the future may already be on the likes of Zarn Sullivan, Taha Kemara, Josh Jacomb, Rico Simpson etc just to name a few but can/will any of them develop soon enough for RWC27 or are they the next wave for RWC31?
      And as you say, can Reiko slip back out to the wing? If he does switch/morph into a 13/winger, being a winger himself, Reiko should learn to pass the ball out to the wing in a good space, not keep the ball & if, & that’s a big IF because he rarely passes to the outside, not eventually pass the ball when he has already closed the (previously) available space by his own running lines?
      Is Leicester Fainga'anuku returning to NZ in time for RWC27? Would he slip back into ABs contention? If so, how would that complicate things ‘squad wise’ with his ability to play 13/Wing? More options or more complications? Given the ABs DNA, could Caleb follow in his Dad’s footsteps and also slip in as a 13 sometimes? Could Narawa transition/morph into a 13/Winger? Could Billy Proctor be a 13/winger option?
      Exciting times ahead with hopefully plenty of sleepless nights & discussions due to the options that the ABs will/might have available on this ‘journey’.

    Christie is too slow. Ratima came on and delivered quicker ball, McKenzie looked way better when he got quicker ball. TJ and Christie are too slow, always looking for the chance to be a hero. It's a bit of a hard watch sometimes listening to ex-All Blacks who can't explain why we struggled in this series. Yes there's a new coaching team and the prep was short but it comes down to 3-4 key areas. 1. Lineout - we were poor, Otoje was great. Winning this possession makes a dramatic difference in our field position and possession. More ball and I'd have backed us to score points. 2. Kicking from Halfback - Scott Hansen believes we can build three world-class halfbacks. You can look no further than Dupont for the model. When he kicks from the base inside his 22, the ball is out near, or over halfway. We couldn't get it to the 10m line and for nearly 20 minutes we were pinned in our 22. This makes a massive difference in pressure on us and our ability to pressure the opposition. Also, our attacking box kicks were too deep and not contestable - again get this right and we win more possession and pressure the opposition. 3. Go Forward - Take a look at the Blues "Vern-Ball". When a Blues forward goes, he has a cleaner on each hip who helps drive him through the contact area usually winning another metre or two plus providing quick, clean ball to the halfback. Too often in this series, our forwards are running alone and the cleaners are late giving the opposition time to pressure our ball. 4. DMac is our 10 but run Beaudy at 15. I love Stephen, but while DMac finds his feet having Beaudy there gives him another voice and takes some load off. This will free both of them up to ignite our attack. I'm sure the coaches are on this, but these are the areas we need to tidy up before we hit South Africa. Do that and we'll be a good chance.

    The All Blacks' job was to win the series....no more and no less. That's been achieved. England's job was to show something. That's been achieved. Now both sides have to build.
    Good point - The AB tight play was elite. The AB scrum smashed England.. They need to get to the point where they can match the French and Book scrums.
    Patterns of play will be developed..We all need to take the wins.

You need props like Pisolo and Tamati with Aumua with locks like Barret and Darry to smash up the opposition 8. This instills confidence in the back 7. For me the number of Caps can be mis-leading. A player might have 10 Caps but those 10 might have all been off the bench in the last few mins of each game when the game was already won/lost so in reality that could maybe only have 20-30 mins of actual playing time & some of those mins might have been against a Tier 2 Country or when the game had already gone one way or the other etc.
      To allow a fairer comparison, I would like to see a breakdown of the Caps, Starting Playing Minutes, Off the Bench Playing Minutes, Opposition Tier etc. With all of the data at hand maybe even minutes by Location/Ground, what was the score when they came on off the Bench, was the game already won/lost when they came on off the Bench, when they came on off the Bench was it a tactical/injury/sympathetic substitution etc.
      Could there be some kind of algorithm, heaven’s forbid something like the World Rugby Rankings, that would give an added weighting to mins starting in a RWC Final as opposed to bench mins in a ‘jolly’ of game against much weaker opposition as part of whatever competition or a friendly where ‘CAPS’ are rewarded?
      Can ‘Time in Camp’ be supplied/analysed or used for comparison’s sake?
      Can similar stats also be given for a Coach, their Coaching Role or the Coaching Group as a whole?
      I’m into data…

    Don't worry about innovation right now. The ABs must first learn to do the basics right and get some rugby intelligence and a physical presence. Perofeta butchered a try as he can't complete an inside pass and battles out of position! Tuipiloto at 5, is a complete waste of space on the field. He is lazy and loiters around on the field. How you get worse in line outs from one week to the next in lineouts is also worrisome. Rieko also needs to be taught that sometimes, he has to pass that ball and not hold onto it forever in a day. He is a predictable player, who lacks off loading abilities, which at centre is very worrisome. This Team will get worse before they start getting better, and they are simply light years away from the standards set by SA and Ireland.

    In reference to Goldie’s analysis of scoring tries with the use of Dummy Runners, while I like attractive rugby & good/smart moves. my take on the Dummy Runners, is that once the Dummy Runner is ahead of the Ball Carrier & there is any contact to a Defender, within a reasonable radius of the Baller Carrier & not the Defender milking the contact, then that should be ruled as obstruction/blocking/crossing & a penalty/free0kick awarded to the Defence.
    Sometimes a Defender is penalized for tackling a Dummy Runner ‘off the ball, without the ball or early’ when the Defender had already committed to the tackle given the actions of the Ball Carrier & the Dummy Runner. The Defender doesn’t always have the time to react to the ball being passed & getting into position for a legal/effective tackle nor does the Defender have the time to look-up from their tackle position to see if they have the ball or not & if required, pull out of the tackle & step aside to allow the Dummy Runner to proceed without any hindrance. Which way do you officiate? In favour of the offence or defence?
    If in favour of the Defence, I suppose this idea would just lead the Defensive Line to become rigid/zonal as they wouldn’t need to track a Dummy Runner - just keep their line - but it would force the offensive/attacking side to be more creative.
    So, in favour of the offence or defence or can there be a fair compromise? Not any interpretations, a Black & White Law please…
