Joel I made 4 out of white oak, charred the inside, and sealed the outside only with butcher block oil. It leaked. So, do you sand any of the carbon/soot from inside and would bees wax/linseed oil on inside be worth the effort? Might lose any of the marshmellow/carmel flavors, but would it preserve integrity of the vessel? Thanks
Sadly lt will happen from time to time. I never seal the insides but from time to time I will seal just the bottoms to close off the pores. You can do this with epoxy or polyurethane.
@@industrialcomfort What about knocking down the char a bit? Do you do that at all? Thanx! OBTW: This is going to be one of my next projects after Christmas! Thanx again!!!
@@daveconner there isn't generally enough char to knock off. i essentially do it util the wood blackens but don't let is catch fire. I love to re-toast after drinking from them as it caramelizes the sugars and really enhances the flavors. it's pretty amazing what it does to the taste.
Well done. There was never any doubt about third time being the charm.
Appreciate that, Rick. Thanks for watching
This was very helpful, thank you
