I love my XT to death, even if it's the dull orange and not the shiny orange version. I'm looking for the rack ears for my Novation Nova synth, too. It's probably just a trip to the hardware store as Novation has told me they aren't available anymore. Just noticing a bit more, I have a Micro Q in my rack, not the full Q, as well as the SE-1. I'm jonesing to find a Jupiter 6 and an Andromeda on top of that. I'm on the lookout for the Fizmo rack. You have an incredibly nice kit!
I always liked Microwave XT sound, but never owned one. Can someone explain - what Blofeld is lacking regarding wavetables vs. XT? I assume the sound on Blofeld is worse in general, but I interested in more technical details (wavetable scanning, modulation etc.).
Ok, I did some research by myself and Blofeld is missing: 1) Osc aliasing parameter. 2) Osc start phase parameter. 3) that nice 8-stage loopable wave envelope (you can apply available Blofeld envelopes to wavetable though) 4) some cool filter types, such as waveshaper (Blofeld has Sin waveshaper only) and S&H (Blofeld has S&H in Triple FX, but it’s bit different). Filters are more clean (“modern”) on Blofeld. 5) XT has more modifiers functions in mod.matrix. 6) LFO Symmetry and Humanize parameters. Blofeld advantages: 1) Wavetable per osc. - XT shares same wavetable between 2 oscs, but you can set different start wave and modulation and other parameters per osc, of course. 2) Comb filter 3) Additional overdrive modes. 4) A bit more effects and more tweakable parameters on them (reverb is pretty bad though). 5) Additional env and LFO and 3rd (VA) osc. 6) More storage (slots/banks) for sounds.
See, this is why TH-cam is so unfair. You find an old synth that you find interesting, and the person demonstrating it has at least one piece of gear the same as you do. In this case, the AN1x. And to add insult to injury, there are a K5000R and an FS1r in the background. So then your brain starts telling you: "go on, go to Ebay and Reverb, you know you really need to buy these synths".
I have an orange Microwave XT sitting right here, in my rack! It's internal battery is dead! One of it's knobs have disconnected from the inside and needing to be resurfaced! I'm ready to take this sucker in for it's repairs and to revive it.. The same with my bright yellow rack mounted Micro Q, also dead from being unused! The same with my Korg Wavestation, my Roland JP8000 and my Korg Trinity Plus and Triton keyboard synths! Fuck! They're either dead from years of not using them or I've spilled a beer on them and the keys don't work anymore! I'm a shithead for letting these synths and keyboards to go into disrepair. I thought that I had hung up my hat on music making 4 years ago but now I'm itching to get back. I've found collaborators on the east coast who want to start writing music with me again. I've purchased a refurbished Mac Pro that's running very stable Mojave (forget Catalina - it's messed up for music making purposes) and I'm ready to upgrade from Logic 8 and Live 8 to Logic 10.5 and Live 10. I've been in a mind fart for too long now and I'm just about ready to get back into it!

It sounds great, unique and has a very nice and fun interface, plus good build quality and hardware features too, especially for its time. How is that "overhyped" ?

It’s capable of such a wide variety of sounds; alien soundscapes but also dreamy, ethereal pads etc etc.

The Blofeld sounds more like micro Q then xt nave gets u more in xt direction..still think the modal sounds better
