    The number of times I've been called out because a customer has decided to replace a light themselves.

      @@GSHElectrical Exactly that 😅
      On one ocassion they managed to change every light in their flat. They had managed to wire it in such a manner that you had to turn every light on the property for the bedroom light to work. They had removed all the loops and only had N and switch line at each light. It was hilarious!

    Gaz a little tip for what it’s worth, I always keep the earth conductors long place over the loop terminal and bring them round the inside diameter of rose back plate back to the earth terminal . Looks a lot neater

    If you’re having more than one light turned on by the same switch, do you just take another 1mm from the ceiling rose to the next light? So at that first fitting you’d have 4 cables, the supply in and out, the switch line down to the switch and then the next switch line to the next light?

    I am confused though I am currently - disconnected the Light Circuit - because I pulled the only appliance out - I am trying to follow this video - in how to connect the right wires in order to a connection like this - But I have different colour wires - GREEN - RED - BLACK.

    As always, great video Gaz. May I ask a quick question, is it compliant to spur off a loop in rose that's already providing a spur (usual loop in) or is it compulsory to find the last rose and spur off that? I ask because there's only three terminals for the 'loop' block and 'neutral' blocks. I want to add a light in loft space and easier for me to spur from rose than using JB as quite a few cables up there. Thanks :)

    so what is the weight capacity of a ceiling rose? when do you have to go from plastic to metal to hold the weight of the light fixture?

    Does anybody remember the Lewden Meastro ceiling rose??
    I used to use them a lot, they were a brilliant design and enabled the safe and easy removal of the attached luminaire.
    I had them in my house where there were fancy pendants and I fitted many on my customers houses again where they wanted a fancy pendant.
    No idea why Lewden stopped production but I have found nothing to replace it.
    I dont agree with crushing connector blocks inside a metal cup to cover them up. Many do this but it's not right.

    I disconnected - the Old Worn Out Ceiling Rose - But I did not take note of how the wires are connected - its in the bedroom - and also when I disconnected the wires - its the point that joins the circuit - So now not only is the bedroom without Light - So is the Landing and Toilet and Bathroom - Connecting the wires back up to a New Ceiling Rose is Tricky - because I have all these different wires joining the Loop - but not sure the order to wire them - GREEN - RED - BLACK.

    Hi, if you don't mind i have a question...is the adiabatic equation calculated using Zs or Ze? Found some conflicting info on the web. Thanks

    • @PlymouthSparky
      @PlymouthSparky 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      kevin smith hi fella. ok so not related to this video I’m guessing your asking about acquiring the minimum size protective conductor for an installation. If so it would be Ze fella as we are measuring the amount of current that would flow at the origin. Gaz I’m sure will correct me if your on a different question path.
