After conquering most of Europe (incl. England) and parts of Africa, the Romans came up to Scotland, but after facing our Woad covered, naked, sword-wielding, Irn-bru drinking ancestors charging them, they ran away and built two walls (Hadrian's & Antoninus) to keep us away. Scottish Pride!!
@@TheEyez187 I am German and the romans built a wall to stop me, too. But it was useless. Yesterday i tried IRN-BRU for the first time in my life. It is okay, interesting.
They did indeed, the Limes Germanicus! An ancient point of pride! :D It's a good drink! Have you seen the Irn-Bru (made in Scotland from girders) adverts, especially from the 80/90's, the joke makes more sense! :D
@@TheEyez187 Well, after careful historical analysis it seems Sarge Luigi got tired of chewing on raw #otter while getting rained on next to a Glen, while watching you Picts wave your knackers about, so he went home to #sunny #warm #Italy; he missed his momma's #pizza.
I'm german and I heard about Irn Brew on TH-cam and I just discovered this masterpieces of advertisement! Well done brothers from Scotland. I have to try your famous drink!
Irn bru was first made in Parkhead, Glasgow. Recently they brought back the original recipe, more expensive but so much nicer. Oh, and I'm a Parkhead Bhoy. ✌️
my favourite bru advert from the 80s was a kid playing golf who whacks the ball miles away from the hole, drinks some bru, runs to the green at super speed, rips the green up out of the ground and catches the ball in it.
What happened to the ones where the kid bends the girders over his shoulders and the one where another kid spits the rivets into the boat in the shipyard?
Awh Pure quality man. You forgot the it’s phenomenal song ad, Coke a cola sent over reachers to Scotland to find out why they weren’t the best soft drink here, most if all Scots were brought up with the bru, So get it roon yie
I love the "gets you trough" slogan! now I am even a wee bit sorry I haven't tried irn bru :') Yeah, and the snowman is my absolutely favorite for all times
Number 3 is a blast from the past. That is the one I remember most from my childhood. Number 1 is good too but swap numbers 1 and 3 around and that's better lol.
#14 should be #1, I almost wet myself laughing at that one and that is a rare thing ad wise. It beats all others even the snowman one and that was a near bladder leakage one.
5:18 Number 7 is my favourite. This ad has haunted me ever since I first saw it, back in 2003 or 2005. This ad is actually pretty funny, but it also makes me uneasy. I was really curious to see the baby's face, and the woman herself was trying really hard to get it out. Even if she wasn't feeling any pain, she was surely suffering a lot from all the effort she was doing. Also, it must have hurt a lot when the baby yanked that can of IRN-BRU all the way into the womb. I am frustrated for not seeing the baby's face, and I also pity the poor woman. Finally, I was left wondering: how did they proceed after the baby threw the can out of its mother vagina? A) Maybe her contractions just stopped altogether and underwent a vaginal exam, only to confirm that she was not even in labor anymore. So, the poor woman just stood up from that bed, put her panties back on, changed back into her normal clothes, and went back home, still pregnant. Either that, or... B) Maybe the poor woman just had another contraction a few seconds after that can flew out of her, and she resumed pushing. She has been pushing since that moment, and she will keep pushing for as long as it takes to squeeze that baby out, but the baby has not come out, and it never will, no matter how long she keeps trying to push it out. I am SO GLAD that this scene is purely fictional! So, I can watch and re-watch it without taking it too seriously. Fuck this wimpy society! Have empathy to people, be kind and do good, but don't forbid us from laughing at some tragi-comic stuff.
@@j.ksmith7432 Yes, I have. This ad shows a tense situation without showing a proper resolution for it. I'm glad it is a work of fiction, so I can see the funny side and make fun of the characters' situation. Maybe the baby in this ad never EVER gets born, and becomes a criminal mastermind, maybe a cybercriminal. Since the character technically never got born, he/she will be underage forever, so that will be a criminal who will never be old enough to be arrested or judged.
how the hell did researching my scottish ancestors lead me to an irn bru commercial compilation. i left room for 10 minutes what's going... how did i get here???
10 years since this selection was posted and I can't believe no one has commented on the fact that the original slogan was 'made from *rusty* girders'. If my memory hasn't gone completely the word 'rusty' (which was a perfect explanation for the colour) was dropped when the drink and the ads went countrywide instead of just being for the Scottish and us Northerners.
This countdown wouldn't be complete without 'The Snowman' tribute, still makes me laugh the moment when the boy lands in a snow drift 😆
