Great guest! Knowledgeable, articulate, informed, experienced, committed to Ukraine, and exudes genuineness. Thanks Jonathan. I thoroughly enjoyed and at last feel like I can understand what's meant by "Soviet Mentality" amongst many senior level officers in the Ukrainian Armed Forces. Please welcome back this guest soon.

What a great discussion Jonathan. Kudos to my fellow Canadian. I am very proud of him and his work. It seems that $12,000 for a simulator is not a lot of money and perhaps could be crowdfunded in Canada especially since we have such a large ex-patriot and Ukrainian Canadian community. If it were my strength, I would do it but sadly, am not informed enough to do so. In the meantime, will donate what I can afford and would ask all other readers to do so as well. Slava Ukraini!

brilliant point! Even we yanks know that the unusually large Ukr diaspora in Canada, going waaay back, is a potential boon to Ukr visavis business, charity and fighting cooperation. And, yes, ppl would be amazed when studying war history that single units being deeply motivated AND skilled can then influence nearby units etc, and often create the aggression level needed (as Leach alluded to being the case when Ukr units are fit enough and can actually manouvre enough with enough mass) to make breakthroughs in wars of attrition like this. Literally, getting one fine training org into good shape itself can create chain reaction positive feedback loops.

9:45 General Drapaty is one of the best Ukrainian commanders who became known since 2014 when being just a captain he saved his battalion from an inevitable death or captivity in the full encirclement at Izvarine, from where he fought the way through the forty kilometers deep Muscovite positions and lost just one soldier. He successfully repelled the recent Muscovite offensive at Xarkovъ, so there is a cautious optimism for now.

That's an interesting idea, however, Americans have never appreciated Canadians' opinions unless they are specifically asked for. Looks like the focus since the election is all the money that's being made from the private prison and temporary detention industrial complex, and then filling them with Latinos after Jan.20th.
Privatize the profits, socialize the costs.
It may have been possible to avoid the debacles in Afghanistan and Iraq if it wasn't for cultural ignorance/ disregard, and if the hubris wasn't so thick. Those two costly, failed adventures, textbook instances of "mission creep", and Libya (oops!), are partly why the world is so effing effed up today.
But it's hard not to see how all that wasn't the goal, in part, until at least the recent unraveling of the American built world order began to accelerate (2008? 2014?).
Now we see blowback on an unprecedented scale.
" How did our oil get under their sand ?"
Cheney and W.Bush, and others have the answers.

A sound strategy must be understood by all subordinates, all ranks should understand and agree the procedures, doctrine and ROE. Money and power is of no importance, only life has importance.

1:34:50 Correction: The PRC didn't conduct a nuclear weapons test until 1964. The Korean Armistice Agreement was signed in 1953. Even the Soviet Union was still in the early testing stage for their program, with a half dozen tests and few practical devices at that point. The War was not frozen due to avoiding conflict with a nuclear power. On the contrary, it was only after the conflict was frozen that the nuclear arms race entered the mass production phase.
The more likely incentive to end the war was insufficient conventional arms provided with insufficient urgency, resulting in a drawn out war with significant casualties on both sides and war exhaustion on the part of allies. This is the situation that Ukraine is in danger of replicating.

This is infuriating to hear that this hold up is constantly and still costing my friends of their lives. As an army veteran, I understand that it’s a miracle anything really gets done in the United States of military. It’s always last minute victory because of the individual effort of the noncommission officers and lower ranks that makes things happen. I’ve also worked for these defense contractors. The indecision is unbearable. I’ve seen the ocean of our equipment just being maintain moved from place to place in working order just waiting for the year that it will be decommissioned costing the taxpayers even more money. Interesting how wars are also a melting pot of cultures. Russia does represent the old imperial mindset, and Ukraine is getting more NATO /Western aligned every day. It is currently being propped up by the western countries, of which we are seeing a sort of 'buyers remorse' amongst them, as they re focus on their own economies. The only way to save Ukraine is not by war (they've tried that for 3 years and haven't gained anything), but by some kind of negotiated settlement.

I think Syrskyi is more a political person than a "proper" military strategist and leader; from a "westerner" point of view. Syrskyi, being the political person that he is, makes many political mistakes... making him, in my view, a poor choice for the position he occupies, pun intended. You are just repeating old slurs. Syrski is not 'political' he is a 4 star General, the commander-in-chief of the Armed Forces. His track record speaks for itself, he was in charge of the successful Karkhiv counter offensive of Autumn of 2022, and more recently the highly successful Kursk incursion.

    • @PandemoniumMeltDown
      @PandemoniumMeltDown 8 วันที่ผ่านมา

@@artmcteagle ... protecting Sodol, blocking soldiers voices... is exactly what is being discussed in this video. Blocking Sternenko, is playing the soviet hand over reality of the fact that a partisan menacing his political aspirations is not proper strategy. 5 territorial sovereignity

    10 a return to international co-operation..

Love your content, but after 8 hrs work, cooking for the family, 4 hrs catching up on Ukraine news channels and feeds, a nearly 2 hr youtube is just too long,I might watch at the weekend, but please consider editing.

There might be a strategy in negotiation to appear to be willing to concede to some of Trump's Peace deal, but have negotiations fail in a fashion that makes Russia appear to be unreasonable and not accepting Trump's plan. Trump might get insulted and listen more to pro-Ukraine voices, and decide he doesn't need Russia's support anymore. This would be encouraged more if more Republicans shifted to supporting Ukraine. Ukrainians and their neighbours will be less inclined to give in to Russian Chauvenistic expansionism.

Did I just converge into an alternate universe where Donald is a person who represents and is in support of democratic government and democratic values, and uphold morality and decency? What the fuck?

Certainly,I resent that you guys see Trump for only his value in a war scene. To hell with us who have to live with his primitive understanding of and lack of respect for our women, our people and our constitution.

The best thing in 2025 for me will be to never hear Jake Sullivans name ever again. I have a hate for a person I've never met, and it's pretty bad. May karma visit him one day.

Trump doesn't have the stones to actually oppose people that he admires. In fact, his goal is to subdivide the planet, if necessary, by relinquishing other people's property and freedom. He is a seeker of leverageable backdoors. In the form of a movie, it can be interesting and masquerade as heroic. In real life, it's something very different.

"Atlas Shrugged" is like a participation trophy for libertarianism - it's a simplistic, poorly written manifesto that's only revered by those who haven't actually read any real philosophy. Ayn Rand's magnum opus is about as nuanced as a kindergartener's drawing of a train - it's all bold lines, primary colors, and a complete disregard for complexity or subtlety.

I agree with everything except his trust in Trump. If we are lucky, Trump may prove to act in the way is best suited to Ukraine’s need. But his adoration for Putin and other tyrants doesn’t bode well.
