Really good preview video. Muchly appreciated. And, you have lovely dogs. I'd like to see a "Rescue" Dog group, which I think might be similar to what you were calling "Street" dogs.
Thank you both for the preview/review. Farrell, your point of contention is just what I was thinking as well. It sounds like the last player has a pretty significant disadvantage at the walking phase with the double penalty. Your solution for giving the last player one extra turn sounds like a good one! I also wanted to mention that even though the last player has more information in the bidding/recruitment phase, in the case of a tied bid, the player who bid first in turn order wins the tie. So this is why I felt that the last player generally has quite a few more obstacles than I think they should. Just my thoughts.
Yea, I just found that with the fact that the last player out warps to the end, I wasn't really getting the reward of risk/reward (occasionally) because I wasn't getting the chance to get more resources. It just seems more 'fair' to me that last person out gets one final turn (or just gets their turn if they are below the person who just made it to the end in the turn order). Then again, I haven't played it as many times as the designers so maybe it's a non-issue. It's a good point about the turn order tie breaker, but I would say that by virtue of going last, you can just come in with a very high bid if you really wanted that dog as you can see who and how many have gone for it, so I don't personally find it an obstacle. Anyway, thank you for the kind words, they are appreciated :).
Thanks for the in depth runthrough. It looks like a fun game, but what do you think of it as a 2 player game overall? Auction mechanics can often suffer with just 2 players so would you recommend it if we’ll only ever play 2 player?
I think it's okay at two players, and I'd be happy to play it, but it shines at 4. That said, if you want the game to be a little less tough and interactive, then it's better at 2. It's a much friendlier game, so depends what you're looking for in a 2 player game. If you're really interested, you certainly won't feel disappointed with Dog Park if you only play it at two.
@@BoardOfItReviews Thanks for the reply. We have a pretty big selection of board games now so we’ve become pretty selective as to which games we buy as, unless they’re really good with 2 players, they’ll just end up sitting on the shelf. The dummy player puts me off a little, as we’ve often found that mechanic detracts from our enjoyment of a game.
@@BoardOfItReviews I’d certainly like to give it a try, especially at the higher player counts, it’s just probably not quite worth adding to our collection seeing as 99% of the time we’re playing games two player. Thanks for the video and responses anyway, I’ll certainty check out more of your videos in the future.
Love this review. Thank you so much for taking to time to review every phase of every round. I also am obsessed with Megan and Sven. What kind of breed if Sven?
Sven is a mystery breed! He is a street dog from Bulgaria, so really he could be anything...one day we'll get around to doing a DNA test on him. Thank you for the kind words :).
The paw of approval! We are so honoured! Thank you Tallie and Farrell (and Megan and Sven obv) for sharing such a thorough preview of Dog Park.
No problem, thanks so much for thinking of us! Any game with a Staffie card is an instant, no-brainer buy ;).
Excellent preview and I love the idea of a street dog or rescue dog category!
Thank you! Yessss we’d love to see it and get the rescue/street dogs represented 😍

Thanks for the kind comment :). We'd also like to see that too as both of our dogs are rescues!

Great review...Lighting not that bad in DK 🤙
Thanks so much! Haha the hygge lights are good for hygge but not so good for seeing 😅😅
I just learned of this game today, January 16th. Is there still a way to order a copy, or will I have to wait until it shows up in stores this Fall?
Hey Tom - we’re not sure about release plans for the game so we’d recommend you to contact the publisher about it, which is Birdwood Games 😊
@@BoardOfItReviews Thanks!

That’s totally fair. Hope you get to try Dog Park one day even if you decided not to back it yourself!
