It was extremely moving to hear this old instrument being played. Musical instruments are alive when they are played, and this is a wonderful thing with a 400-year-old specimen. I felt a sense of connection to the music I love.
@@jerrytheracecardriver1100 Not depressing at all. Glorious that it survived to give us and generations to come, pleasure. Depressing is the thought of this clavichord getting destroyed.
How many people have played that instrument since it was built 400 years ago, unbelievable. The fact that it has survived that time is even more so. Regards from South Africa
ANTONIO CABEZON { CASTRILLO MATAJUDIOS 1510-1566 MADRID } ORIGINAL CLAVICHORD C. MIREY COLECTION - NORBERTO BROGINI. Une merveille ce CLAVICHORD vraiment trop beau , une pièce de collection très grande interprétation, grandiose bravo. Merci pour ce moment de musique de la renaissance avec CABEZON qui est Eternel video magnifique.
I used to tune and maintain them all when I worked there. I think this was perhaps biggest sequence of working clavichords in any public museum, but it has all been changed now.
From the level of the noise on the recording, I think the volume was turned up a lot here so we could hear it better. In the room I'd imagine it was very quiet. Well, that, or there's a small plane taking off in the next room ;)
Very interesting. I wonder- Bach played Clavichord, but was it that small? How could he play the Goldberg Sonatas on it? It sounds like a big lute, but the damp sound is a little unsatisfactory. The clavichord must be very old and still works - thank you.
There were (and still are) other kinds of clavichords, from later periods, the 18th c., like the bigger, louder, Saxon clavichord. Search them and you will find pics.
It sure beat using you foot on an upright...to get vibrato. I am considering a reddit solution ...using a sander from my husband til he finds it missing. Does any know any piano with vibrato. Please comment. Surprised the ferrari fazouli aint a lambringi with that option. This is so long overdue.
Mary V If I understand correctly, there are a few differences between harpsichord and clavichord. The clavichord is fretted, meaning that several keys hit the same string in different places to produce the notes one step up or down from the adjacent key, this means also that some keys cannot be pressed at the same time. With a harpsichord each key has it's own set of strings. On a harpsichord, the strings are plucked rather than hit, whereas on the clavichord the strings are hit directly by brass heads. Clavichords were much more portable and much lighter than the harpsichords as well.
One in a lifetime oportunity to touch even a key from that
What a thrill to be able to touch that instrument.

The fact that this is 402 years old is literally so amazing.
it is
Ikr
The strings aren't though
They just don't make 'em like they used to!!😅❤
even some of the keys. Probably some hardware inside too.
Only the box is original.

It's amazing to see so many clavichords all together in the same room! 🎹
Interesting and very well played music! 🎶🎼
A fantastic combination of beautiful playing on a beautiful instrument. Thanks for sharing this!
CHE MERAVIGLIA!!! IL MIO MONDO!!!

the amount of people who have played fallen down on those...
Wow. Amazing sound from that old piece of wood. Thanks.
What a treasure trove!
Hi :)
I used to tune and maintain them all when I worked there. I think this was perhaps biggest sequence of working clavichords in any public museum, but it has all been changed now.
Как же это красиво...😍😍😍😍😍😍😍
I'm surprised that the sound was as loud and rich as it was, clavichords aren't known for having a large, rich sound like that
From the level of the noise on the recording, I think the volume was turned up a lot here so we could hear it better. In the room I'd imagine it was very quiet. Well, that, or there's a small plane taking off in the next room ;)
Thank you so much for posting this music. A excellent playing on a excellent instrument.bravissimo
Thank you for keeping them alive, immortal
And that someone has been able to keep it tuned and playable!
Very interesting !
Very charming clavichord!
Procurei por esse som por um longo tempo! E eu quero uma coleção de instrumentos cravísticos como essa!!!
Marvelous, thank you!
I like the all brown keys! ❤👍
Gorgeous sounding instrument
awesome :D
excellent
The historian in me just got chills looking at those.
So many instruments I have never heard of
wow amazing
bravissimo Broggini! Che bello!
beauty to die for.
Fabulous!!!!!
Please. I need to know how to build clavichord to make it in our country Egyptian
Wow!!!

Goldberg Variations are meant for the Harpsichord, not the Clavichord.
I just wish you would have panned slower.
*sarcasm intensifies*
OG clavichord
sounds like a classical guitar.
The first portable synthesisers 😁
That serves as a damper.
Pretty
Imagine if they released a Bach Album recorded professionally on this.
Are those wooden keys or is the ivory just very very oxidized?
El teclado. es mas corto ?

@michaeljking I mean at 28 seconds
did you play and video the anonymous 1700 at 1.38 as well?
Kinda sounds like a sitar...
there was a river near there?... :)
probably a fountain.
I was wondering what the name of the two songs that man is playing. If anyone knows please, talk to me.
It is all one piece called "Para quien crié yo cabellos" by Antonio de Cabezón (1510 - 1566)
Which temperament did you use for it ?
You can't change the temperament on a fretted clavichord. It's in 1/4 meantone.
Which material the chord made of ???
ahmed mohammed the strings are yellow brass
Синтезатор средневековых рыцарей
A piano guitar! Awesome!!
a pity, all the noise...
Not really. Only in 20th-21st century recordings are instruments heard in isolation. We've lost the beauty and truth of live music.
The 'noise' contains a large part of the charm and magic of this music
@@Jalapablo pretty sure they were referring to the crackling in the recording. you can hear it with headphones, sounds like it's raining in the room.
Tiempo de Bach.
Звук банго и лютни в одном)
Why is there some strip of red cloth on the strings?
yanhky Its probably to damp the strings to get a crisper sound
If you didn't have the red cloth, both sides of the string would sound at the same time.
whats the difference between the clavichord and the harpsichord?

Clavichord are like a MacBook Pro whereas a Harpsichord is like an iMac
+Mary V Clavichord strikes the strings with a hammer (like in piano), while harpsichord plucks the strings with a plectrum, producing a sharper sound.
+Michael Jimenez What a remarkably useless and unhelpful explanation!
without this red strip, all the rings would made the same sound
a shower
Um why are you playing an instrument THAT OLD with bare hands? where's your gloves?
It's been played with bare hands for 400 years with little apparent harm.
Дебильно-примитивный звук, как хорошо, что дальше появились нормальные инструменты !!!!
