US history puts quite a bit of emphasis on personal firearm ownership which is (understandably) confusing to many people. The founding fathers believed that any government could easily become usurpacious and tyrannical if left unchecked. The 2nd amendment was designed as a sort of final safeguard against tyranny. Many people around the world don't understand how civilians could overthrow a government but when studying the Afghanistan debacle and the level of weaponry that was available to them and then comparing that to the number of firearms owned by US citizens, it becomes evident that the 2nd amendment is still valuable today. To be clear though, I believe that every citizen who wants to own a firearm should seek out training. Knowledge and discipline are something that many people are sorely lacking.

Mosin Nagants are fun. Battle rifle caliber, 7.62x54. If you get a new out of the crate have fun getting the cosmoline, or whatever the Russians use, out of the action. Cleaned one up for a friend and it was "big hammer" time. Soaked the bolt over night. Took it out & it jammed up. Broke it down again for a soak. After that it worked perfectly. Guess a bit of heat from a few rounds loosened the last bit of hidden gunk up. The one he got even had the bayonet, ammo, clip pouches and some old Russian ammo. The ammo was corrosive and looked like it on close inspection. Never used it, got rid of it.

I am not American, however I live in South America, at first an m4 with 30 rounds on it may sound unreasonable, but when you can get robbed by 15 people at once, I don't think it is.
Those types of news are quite common here, sure it's often 1, 2 of 3 robbers, but you will see a shit ton of gangs of over 30 people, who will sometimes go out in robbing sprees hit 5 houses on 1 night, wait for you to get home and open your gate to rush in, all armed with pistols some with long firearms, not something pretty.

@Spectator I have heard a few things about stuff going on in south America from time to time but not enough to form my own opinion. But from what you described definitely gives a good example of why you want to keep your rifle handy at a given moment.
I feel like the hardest part of explaining stuff to others is they may hear the words but are not seeing what we are saying. So they may think oh your just making that up or you're making it sound worse then it actually is.

@@armycowboy4313 it always depends on where you live, I would not be exaggerating if I said I hear gunshots at least either once a month or once a week, confusion being if they are gunshots or illegal fireworks, both of which are often used by the same kind of people and also often used at the same time.
My very same neighbors are criminal, I live in a so to speak "poor neighborhood", some of them are their "soldiers" as they call them, others simply deal drugs, they live in this neighborhood yet buy expensive cars and don't even hide what they do, one of them was killed last month, they make shrines for them put their picture up and do some ugly wooden construction around it.
And take into account the neighborhood I live isn't considered bad and the country I am on is considered one of the lighter ones when it comes to crime, worse one would be Brazil, Mexico closely follows possibly Colombia being next.
The worse part is the lack of punishment, if they were to get caught they would probably be released the next day, cops are not very well armed and will often times show up late intentionally as to avoid conflict for themselves, in most of these countries guns are illegal, nothing automatic, nothing long, handguns are already somewhat far away, cops and security guards use revolvers while criminals have from 9mils to aks, last year a whole crate of glocks went "missing" from the army, they were coincidentally "found" in narcs houses, often times in bundles.
It isn't that I fear for my safety, I understand what I say isn't the most likely scenario, but the country I live on puts in perspective that chances are not so low.

The unspoken predicate to the question, what five guns, is the context of distrust of the government and the preparation (prepper) for a lawless world. AKA SHTF (shit hits the fan). That explains the seemingly off-hand remark that everybody needs an assault weapon. There are hundreds of millions of AR-15s in the US. So a little translation and explanation for why there are 5 guns:
-Glock: A handgun. Pretty straight forward, used for concealed carry self defense or defense of a home. Also fun to shoot at a range.
-Ruger: a .22 caliber rifle. Very small round that is basically a high powered bb gun. Versatile for hunting a LOT of things, and can be used for home defense as well in a pinch.
-Shotgun: Like the .22, VERY versatile due to the different kinds of ammo you can use (slugs, buckshot, birdshot, etc) and accessories. Hunting deer with this and slugs is common, but the birdshot is used for, well, birds. Also very good for home defense.
-Bushmaster (military style rifle): The justification for having this is more of an American philosophy. This would be your primary in an emergency situation, or when defending against threats (foreign and domestic). Can also be used for hunting large game like deer, depending on the caliber. He also showed a .22 conversion kit for this rifle. That means it can make the gun shoot .22 LR, the same type of bullet being shot from the Ruger. However, he also said since the gun isn't made to shoot those rounds, it wont be as accurate as if it was being fired from the Ruger.
Hope this helped! And for the more apt gun nuts in the comments, feel free to correct me if I got anything wrong.

I live in Texas and have a friend who is a Deputy Sheriff. Years ago when the Brady Bill was passed I asked him what he would do if one morning the Sheriff told him that guns had been outlawed and he should start going door to door and collecting them. After thinking for a moment he said that he would find somewhere to drink coffee etc for the next 8 hours or so. After his shift was over, he would go back and tell the Sheriff that no one was home.
    Good answer! 🇺🇸

One big reason for the 10/22 (or other 22lr) being his and others number one pick is ammo availability and affordability. In a SHTF (societal collapse etc) scenario, 22lr would be the most abundant ammo to find.
Also anyone can handle shooting it, from toddlers to adults due to its very small bullet and low recoil.

Ten years ago...since then prices have gone up and ammo scarcity has gone up and down.
Different tools serve different purposes. If you look at the hammer rack at a hardware store, certain hammers can only be used for certain construction jobs. Look at a woman's closet at all her purses, dresses, and shoes, to her, every one of them has a specific purpose. Be sure to bring that up when she scoffs at you for buying another whatever thing you're into. :)
.22 LR is just about the smallest cartridge you can get. It's used for target practice to save money from shooting the larger rounds and for small game hunting like rabbits and squirrels. 5.56mm (also known as .223) is a standard NATO military round. It's also one of the weakest hunting rounds. In a lot of US states, it's illegal to use for deer hunting, you have to have a larger rifle or a shotgun to hunt deer and larger game. A lot of more populated states don't allow rifles for hunting at all, all you can use is a shotgun because of their limited range. When he said 7.62 bolt action, that's the same round that the FNMAG machine gun and the FN FAL/L1A1 used. .308 Winchester is the same cartridge, but designed for hunting deer and larger game animals. Ironically, hunting rounds are more lethal than military rounds because the bullets designed to expand and do more damage to an animal with the goal of killing an animal quickly as possible so it won't suffer, while military rounds are restricted to full metal jacket, which theoretically maim less, but they can still kill a person. (The Hague convention of 1903 banned military bullets that expand.) When he said "This kit will save your life" in reference to the .22 adaptor for the AR-15, an AR-15 is a very poor squirrel gun because it will blow a small game animal to bits, where if you shoot .22LR out of an AR-15, it's the same as a squirrel rifle, killing the animal, but preserving the meat for eating if you're in a survival situation. The Ruger 10-22 he was referring to is a .22 LR good for target shooting and hunting small game, the blah blah X-25 magazine he talked about is just a magazine that holds 25 rounds. The magazine that usually comes with a 10-22 holds 10 shots. 10 shots is nice, but if you can have 25 shots, it's 2.5 times better. :)

I think the thing that most people from other countries don’t realize is our 2nd Amendment rights are not about hunting animals, it’s about defending ourselves from our enemies if we’re invaded, then we can form local militias but the 2A is also to protect ourselves from our own government if need be and our own governments has a standing Army that is outfitted with high tech and massive guns so if we need to ever fight against our own government then we need to be outfitted with weapons that are the same as our government. That’s why there should not be any restriction on types of guns and ammo. But that’s also why our government (Democrats) want to restrict and totally take away our guns, they don’t want us to be able to fight back against them if need be. Our founding fathers understood that any government that is armed and the people are not then it’s almost impossible to fight back against that government and our founding fathers knew all governments can become corrupt. So the 2A is actually about protecting and fighting foreign and our own government if needed. So we have to stay up to date with our arms in accordance to what our military has access to.
The other thing you don’t seem to understand is we’ve already fought a Civil War in this country, we know the damage it does so no gun owner is eager or looking forward to take arms up against our government or each other. We know how fragile our republic is because it depends on us making good decisions not hasty ones so we don’t rip our country apart so taking up arms is something we do not want nor look forward to as I’m not sure our country could recover from a second Civil War but we do need to be prepared in case it is necessary. Believe there has been plenty of abuse of power by our government already and many many many people, gun owners are angry and have been angry for years and years with what’s been going on but no one has went against our government. We’ve been trying to go through the courts to change things, we’ve ran for office to try and change things but a lot of our courts and judges are corrupt and even running for office has become a rich man only game. If you don’t have loads of money or know people who do then your not getting in to office. So the corruption keeps spreading and our votes are being manipulated, can’t run for office and can’t win in corrupt courts so We The People have been frustrated for a long long time since we have no avenue legally to change things but yet we’ve continued to stay peaceful. They keep restricting our gun rights which is an effort to take our guns away in the long run so things are getting tender. However like I said even with the corruption where we have no legal recourse to voice our concerns or the legal ability to change unconstitutional laws that the politicians have made without our consent, even with gun restrictions and permits that should not exist we have still remained patient, peaceful and hopeful that we can still change things legally by getting someone in office who follows the laws and listens to We The People. That’s why Trump was and is so well loved, it’s also why the Democrats hate him, he’s a threat to their total control/power and they don’t like it. Believe me if we were eager to go to war in our own country it would have already happened. We are not eager, we are law abiding citizens who want to stay that way. Of course there are always those very small fringe groups that are eager to go out guns blazing at the littlest provocation but that is a very small minority of people out of all gun owners. And every country has its nuts. Most gun owners see the bigger picture of how rising up against our government would affect our Country and even other countries around the world so it’s not something we seek out or wait and hope for. We are not trigger happy no matter what you may think.

Americans talking about guns sound psychotic until you realize that intruders are a thing, domestic terrorism is a thing, foreign threats are a thing, and eventually tyrannical governments are a thing. People that have grown up without guns and are taught to see them in a fearful light will only question guns until their head is on the chopping block. I'd rather die on a hill than be slaughtered like a sheep in a butcher's shop. Even Americans that have lived in ghettos and fear guns because of the result of violence with them change their minds when they're at the victim end of a robbery or ,God forbid, r**ing. A private military is the most dangerous form of boots on the ground warfare.
Oh, and with gun laws, controlling one's ability to own a firearm (assuming they're not a violent felon or have been put in a mental hospital at one point) is a great infringement on human rights and that's how WW2 was kicked off and the Jews were eliminated. Australia's next, not enough guns to defend, and nowhere to go once they are imprisoned.

I'm assuming they're coming more from a prepper/survival frame of mind than advocating a militia of some type, and use on "two-legged game" would be protecting yourself in an SHTF situation. I have the equivalent of all five basic types they went over, myself. Several handguns, a few AR-15s, an AK, M-1 Garand, pump shotgun, .22 for small game, bolt action rifles for long-range target shooting etc, and a few other things. (Not a Mosin-Nagant, though. While those are inexpensive, there are a lot better options out there.) I haven't bought a gun in a while, but the prices are coming down from the insane levels they were during the pandemic, so I'm thinking of a revolver. Probably a 357.

In reference to shotguns in America, pump shotguns can hold up to 8 shells. The three shell limit is for hunting migratory birds. A pump shotgun and semi-auto shotgun must have a plug inserted into the magazine to allow the tube to hold no more than three shells while hunting birds only. If you are hunting other animals you can have as many shells as the magazine can hold. Under the law the plug must not be able to be removed without disassembling the gun so people can't cheat while they are hunting birds.

Great reaction, guys as usual. Here in America, we have gun enthusiast who enjoy owning and shooting a large variety of firearms. We also have hunters, competitors and casual target shooting gun owners. Gun ownership is considered a right in America and the 2nd Amendment recognizes that right is necessary for personal defense and to deter, resist or defeat a tyrannical government. Those who are pro-gun control or anti-gun are free not to own a firearm, but they are prohibited from implementing laws that contradict the 2nd Amendment.

It's hard to explain gun fever. You buy one, you like it for awhile. Then you buy another. Then you think "I might need another gun for this situation", and you end up buying another. Before you know it you have 10 guns. Good thing about guns though is they hold 90% of their value. In some cases they can go up in value. So owning them is like owning gold.
