      Still is on most cars.

      Mercedes and rolls royce were the first ones to use fluid filled engine mounts which is just as bad as those vaccuum actuated ones, if not worse.
      When it comes to cadillac, I don't know, I have zero interest when it comes to those cars.
      But anways I'm not gonna argue with a "back in my day it was better" kind of guy because you're delusional, nostalgia often makes people think things were better. And I know this type of people will never change their minds because they've convinced themselves so hard they will never consider even listening despite their opinions aren't usually based on first hand experience.
      The comfort in the 80's has nothing to do with what we do now. Before it felt like you were driving a cushion, now it feels like a flying carpet, both comfortable but to two absolutely different levels, and if you think they're on the same level I'd advise you to ride in both again instead of trying to remember you 20 years ago in a Cadillac, and trying to imagine what a new S class or 7 series feel like since I doubt you've actually been in one.
      But anyways it's besides the point, when you want one thing there's tradebacks, if you want luxury and comfort, it becomes complicated and expensive, there's no denying that, simple and cheap luxury cars do not exist.

    • @weedmastersr
      @weedmastersr 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@imnota Those were not worse, just needed proper maintenance. Despite your idiotic little rant, cars have not gotten better overall, just more compromised. I work as a mechanic and I've been in all the cars you mentioned. The new 7 Series or S-Class do not impress me in any way. You wouldn't believe how poor the quality and reliability of those cars is. I will forever take a W140 Mercedes over a new S-Class where the dashboard is made up of shinny scratchy plastic and stupid failing screens, with wheels of idiotically large size for a good ride without idiotic electronics. All the other mechanics I know hate modern cars.

    • @imnota
      @imnota 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@weedmastersr
      The new s class has a fully leather and wood dashboard you can choose between poplar or walnut in a few different finishes, and all those screens and technology are what make it a luxury car, a luxury car with the same features as a LADA isn't very luxurious.
      Shows how much you know about those cars, you've never been in one and therefore have no right commenting their ride quality.
      There's no recovering from this argument if you think an s class dashboard is made out of scratchy plastic you don't know what you're talking about and you don't even deserve to be listened to.

      Wondering about that as well. Has happened a couple of times where the car just idles rough at a stop light. Doesn't stall, just drops lower for a few seconds and its good. I don't think that it is the engine mounts. It's just the RPM dropping lower than usual intermittently. Probably nothing to worry about unless it's happening regularly, but I'd like to know what causes it as well.
      There was one time I had an actually bad idle. Had a new alternator put on and something or another happened with the computer while the battery was disconnected. Turned the car on and it ran like shit, sputtering and on the verge of stalling out. Wish I could remember more details, but the computer essentially had to re-learn it's idle settings for the engine. The mechanic did a couple more minutes of fuckery and everything was fine after that.

    Most of the time its not a mount when at a light. Loud thump on shift to drive or reverse or Sudden acceleration will indicate bad mounts.

    • @alextheonewarrior
      @alextheonewarrior 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If you hear a loud thump as a result of mounts, you don't have mounts anymore lmao.

    Every time I hear an American refer to the Engine as "motor" I instantly think EV... then I have to remind myself of language differences.
    It's funny though, because here in the UK, we call our car our "motor" but the engine is never called that 🤷

    What about if the car is fine in Park, and also while coasting, but either if it's in Drive with the brakes on, or if it's pulling/accelerating, it has a lot of vibration and the steering wheel rattles, could that mean bad transmission mounts?
    Car is a 2005 Mercedes E-Class automatic diesel.
    Any help would be appreciated, thanks!

    What if it vibrates while driving and vibration stops while at traffic.

    • @joshuaosborn
      @joshuaosborn 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That's probably driveline related. Wheel out of balance, u-joint, wheel bearing, cv shaft, warped rotor if vibration is predominantly present under braking...

    When I come to a slow stop my 2000 Silverado jerks like a mf and when I start to cruise from a complete stop it jerks. What could cause that? It has a cam in it but idk if cams make it jerk like that.

    Vibration on idle is pretty much normal for me. But it might have something to do with the fact that the “engine” has three cylinders 😂
