  • Here I'll teach you how to make your own sunbeam effect for RPG Maker :D
    Foreground.js can be found built-in to your RPG Maker's game folders under the Kadokawa plugins (not your project folder)

    Great write up and tutorial, not even sure if the stuff is the same anymore i'm having a hell of a time finding foreground, going to do more research, but very concise and easy to understand video, kudos!

    Very informative and your command helped me a lot. I am currently working on a new project which I think will be worth the time - this is something which will help me separate it from the rest!

    If you draw a point and then hold SHIFT you can click and draw a line without changing the brush tool or anything. it's really handy and if you don't let go of shift you can keep adding points, like the polygon tool.
    EDIT: I guess you might have known this and just didn't use it because you ended up motion blurring anyway, but it's still a good tip for those that don't know none the less! ;)

    Your voice is awesome. I had an idea -- You could take a brush with a dust pattern and paint "clouds" of dust, and then set it as a mask to the sunbeams so it looks like they're shining through and hitting dust or pollen. I would use an elongated, elliptical brush, angled at the same angle the beams are going (long ways)

    First off, thanks so much for taking the time to make these tutorials!You mentioned needing the exclamation point at the start of the file name in this tutorial. I don't recall you doing that for the initial 1-3.5 tutorials. Is it required for this one because of the plugin used?

  • @rokkr

    Hi! Again I loved the tutorial. Do you think is possible for you to make a lighting tutorial? Like lights from windows and maybe a character holding a lantern? Also is it possible to make a map look foggy or like winter style with snow? I am coming back to RPG Maker after like 15 years and to be honest I need to learn from scratch.

    • @LoreleiVTuber
      @LoreleiVTuber  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +blackheimdall I plan on making an interior parallaxing tutorial that features light from windows =D As for fog or falling snow, we might have to wait for a plugin to come out for that (if there isn't one already). Good luck coming back to RPG Maker! =D Can't wait to see what you come up with!

    Hey, you're amazing, but I have a question.
    I create a moon-effect, and I would like to change the note "" with "" (without creating another map). How could I do? Can I use a switch or something?

    • @LoreleiVTuber
      @LoreleiVTuber  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +OneMorning Good question. I don't think you can do that with Foreground.js D= but try Kaus Overlay Plugin! You can use switches with that =]

    My map is larger than yours so the effect image appears repeatedly. How do I make it appear only once in the corner of the screen?

    • @LoreleiVTuber
      @LoreleiVTuber  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Try making the size of the sunbeam file the same size as your map~ If your map is 20x30, then the sunbeam file size will need to be 960x1440 :)

    How can I get the overlay picture to not move when the map moves ? I'm trying to make dungeon lighting, and I only want the light coming from the touches, but when the map moves, the light map moves with it.

    • @LoreleiVTuber
      @LoreleiVTuber  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +drachen1108 I don't explain the exclamation point in the video, but it's supposed to keep the image from moving around. Did you remember to name your file with a ! in the front? That's the only thing I can think of D=

    can I apply this to make so it looks like sunlight is coming through a window? any tips appreciated.

    • @Derxe123
      @Derxe123 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +CGonzales033 If you want to achieve that it's the same principle as this. Just adjust where the beams are coming from. I'm assuming you're doing interior. You'd have to use a kind of parallax-esque style. Just make sure the image is fixed so it doesn't move with you.
      First you'd need to get an image of your map. A plugin called OrangeMapshot (Fallen mentions it in one of her videos) would work as you can use it to screenshot the entire map ingame. Once you have your image just use it as the backdrop (instead of using purple or something similar like she did) and draw your lines coming from the window (do it on a separate layer, you only want the light beam layer).
      Motion Blur it and then erase any of the beams that go past the window on the opposite side. The usual angle would have the light beams spilling out the bottom right corner so anything coming out the top left should be deleted. Then just do everything she did but FIX your image so it doesn't move. (I believe you have to put a '!' point before the filename. If that doesn't work then just Google how to keep a foreground from moving) I hope that helped!

    Is it possible to make a parallax of a map inside of a building and adding light as a layer to make probably blurry lanterns on a wall or something like that? xD I believe shadows are possible too but I can't see an easy way to do them

    • @LoreleiVTuber
      @LoreleiVTuber  8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      +Matias Heredia Yeah!! That's something I have planned for.. eventually haha. When I do interiors, I'll make sure to talk about adding lights from the window or lamps.

  • @Woter_X

    Question, how do you make those water falls? i dont have those in my rpgmakemv

    • @LoreleiVTuber
      @LoreleiVTuber  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Josef Warto Everything on this map is the default RTP. The waterfalls are the waterfall tiles in the "Outside" tileset, with water splashing events. I don't have RPG Maker open right now but I believe it is under "Other1"

    • @Woter_X
      @Woter_X 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sorry yes its the water splashing im looking for. Is it in the event files?

    • @LoreleiVTuber
      @LoreleiVTuber  8 ปีที่แล้ว

    • @LoreleiVTuber
      @LoreleiVTuber  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +Josef Warto It is in with the Kadokawa plugins if you look within your game's folder. I did not preorder and it is there, along with many other plugins. If it's not there, you may be able to find it online

    • @Woter_X

      OMG im so dumb.. im sorry. i never new i had a hidden steam folder till now. just found were all my DLC's and plugins are.. I Thank you so much. Do i just drag all this stuff to a folder in my rpg maker project? or is it more tedious then that.

    • @LoreleiVTuber
      @LoreleiVTuber  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Glad you found it =D It's easy - just copy / paste Foreground.js into your Plugins folder. That's all!
