What's really interesting is that the bugs is that the elite four is 50% weak to bug-types, if not more considering as BestBug is part Fighting, the spider is part Electric, and Cristacean is part Rock, both which can counter all of Marshall's team and The Chandelure + Jellicent.
Whoa... there's an alpha gamer! Attempting a hardcore nuzlocke with the BUG TYPE? I shall watch this video in full, AND click the like and subscribe button! Because I am a good person
21:42 "The bugs just took out a dragon god... and an old man" The way he just casually says that he murdered an old man as if it's just something you do on the average day is amazing
Gen 5 is actually when Game Freak deliberately decided to go against bug type's reputation as early game garbage. Basically all of the Unova bugs are either fast and strong offensive types with good coverage options or can actually take a hit and then dish it back. There's even a bug legendary in Genesect and a pseudo pseudo-legendary bug in Volcarona.
Crustle is such a sleeper pick when it comes to Elesa and the rest of the game. Nobody really pays it much attention when they're scrambling to get that spicy Sandile or Trapinch. But don't underestimate the power of the upper Crustacean. He'll turn teams into pancakes and serve them with a side of maple syrup. Less weaknesses than Krookidile and Excadrill, evolves before Trapinch and is significantly better than the absolute DOWNGRADE that is Vibrava, Dragon type be damned, and makes the Elite 4 look like a bunch of chumps. All the while having a movepool supplied by those big... meaty... claws. X-Scissor, Rock Slide, Shell Smash, Shadow Claw, Aerial Ace... Dig, if you're feeling adventurous because, Earthquake is only post game, but Dig's ight, it's decent. If the stone which the builders rejected has become the cornerstone, then Crustle is the entire 4 corners.
Bug type is really quite nice, it's just cursed with most of its mons having dreadful stats and movepools that are unable to take advantage of the type's strengths. I think generation 5 was probably when Game Freak realized that, because pretty much all of the bugs in gen 5 are good or interesting in some way.
This video popped up in my recommended 2 days ago and now I’ve binged your entire channel. Very entertaining man, please keep uploading you make me laugh.
I have a sweet spot in my heart for the bug type. They may be weak for the most part, but they have a lot of cool tricks up their sleeves. Nice to see the type succeed. Also Cristation *thundering applause*
I have no idea why this didn't show up in my sub feed when it released but your metapod video abruptly appeared before me and then I saw this in the sidebar so here I am?
Crustle is so great, I got the plush the very day the Gen V line was put up on Pokemon Center. as well as a Scolipede and a Joltik. Gen V was the kindest generation to Bug types, and they will not see such generosity again, I fear. They even got a ...mythical??? what is Genesect, technically speaking? but anyway, Crustle is lowkey one of my favorites. it's so funny how it just has this block of sediment on its back somehow, those goofy stalk eyes that just LOOK at you, and a permanently uncertain expression. Crustle is always seeming like 'dunno about this one chief'. even though they do know. They got Shell Smash, stab Rock Slide, fuck you.
Joe has that vermillion forest strat I still want to see you attempt Collusem or Gale of darkness Pokemon game with nothing but unpurfied shadow pokemon a very wickedly unpure run
Bugs are absolutely based. This might be a controversial question, but in my opinion, you should definitely allow yourself to ignore the "one encounter per route" restriction in monotype nuzlockes. Going monotype already reduces the roster of eligible encounters enough.
Bugs exist in 2 main teirs, the snoms and the heracrosses. The reputation is from the weak early game bugs that are just kinda filler, or utility more than powerhouse. But if you seach long and hard, under ricks and in the trees you can find the niche and good bugs. Forretress, Heracross, Shuckle, Yanmega, Venomoth, Scyther/Scizzor, ect. Personally my favorite bug types are Spinarak (entirely because Pokemon XD gave it illegal Signal Beam making it actually good), and Yanmega which as hard carried by its busted ability Tinted Lens. (Getting a 2x bonus on "not very effective" attacks to cancel out the resistance is very strong, which is why the list of pokemon with it normally is 3 lines, and including hidden abilitues is 9 lines, most of which are at best average.)
I often forget that Black and White 2 are the hardest portable-only Pokemon game pair. I also often forget that they are the most BUG-BUFFING Pokemon game pair. By the way, I played through Omega Ruby on my channel with only Bugs (not Nuzlocke). It went well.
