    I can't tell you how this warms my heart that a young couple who knows marriage always needs worked on and always needs attention.. you don't just throw your hands up and quit after one problem. I think it is so sweet you both are consciously trying to make sure the other gets what their heart needs to feel loved. You two are the cutest couple and I wish you nothing but the best. Tough times will happen but together you will build a solid foundation and your house will be unbreakable

    By the time you're our ages, 72, you'll have it all figured out, lol. We've learned that things we used to fight over just aren't worth it. We never fight anymore, we disagree sometimes but it never escalates into a fight. At our ages each day together is just a blessing. You have to put in the time, learn as you go but if you allow God to be in charge, not either of you, it's always about the love. I pray you two still love each other when you're our ages & still showing it openly. We still hold hands when we walk, we hold hands in church, we kiss multiple times a day especially before leaving alone, we kiss & say we love you. We never go to sleep without kissing & saying we love you to each other. Now this isn't a little peck on the cheek either. No, we still love kissing as much as you two do. We all grow old, but our love doesn't have to. God bless you three.

    The 5 love languages is a great book. My husband and I have been married 36 years and love to hold hands, take walks and are still madly in love.
    The 5 languages are:
    1. Words of affirmation
    2. Quality time
    3. Gifts
    4. Service
    5. Physical touch

I find that ours have changed through each season - especially now that 2 kids are involved - so make sure to re-visit often. I love that you guys have shed light to this. My husband and I read this book years ago! Such a goodie! A good way to find out your love language is in how you give love. If you buy him gifts because you thought about him when you saw it that’s a good sign you want the same treatment or when you make him coffee and breakfast make his day easier In anyway it may be a sign you’re acts of service. Same with all the others! Happy you guys are sharing this real journey of marriage! Marriage is not easy and has its trials! Going on ten years and currently pregnant with our 5th baby! It’s been a journey that’s for sure!

    Hey Carlin to know your love language...generally you act out your most prominent love language to your hubby. So like if your always asking Evan to spend time with you then quality time is first, or if words of affirmation...if your asking Evan "how am I doing" then your words of affirmation. Hopefully that makes sense. We read 5 love languages during premartial counseling. Great book and totally helped us....21 yrs still strong.

    Love languages change over the years too I think Evan. Mine used to be physical touch and now it is definitely words of affirmation and acts of service (somewhat). :)
    That was definitely a hi (or at least the start of one)! Good job Layla! :)

    • @MszzDee
      @MszzDee 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I agree. I use to hate physical touch but then mine changed to physical touch. I think it depends on the season of life you are in. A couple years ago I had an accident that left me disabled. During that time I felt very alone. So physical touch and quality time became my dominant languages. Maybe it changes based off what you need most at that time.

    Last one is gifts, but I only know that because it's my love language lol. I love receiving gifts, but I just as much love to give them. All the planning and thought that goes into giving a gift- love it!

  • @mariettavanmiddelkoop9869
    @mariettavanmiddelkoop9869 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Something to mention for ya'll. The love languages are amazing. Totally recommend. However, in this process of serving each other with them, it can lead to the mentality that if I speak your love language, you have to speak mine. It can become an entitlement,along the mindset "I'm doing exactly what she wants but she's not doing it as well in return" and therefore becomes a manipulation and selfseeking love. The 5 love languages are great, don't get me wrong!! But how we use them is just as important. With a desire how we can serve each other better. Great job guys!!

    I have not read through all of the comments to see whether someone else has suggested this, so forgive me if they have. There is a quiz that you can take that helps you determine which is your primary love language. For instance, through a quiz with the "5 Love Languages" book, I learned that my primary love language is quality time and my secondary love language is physical touch. God bless you both and your little darling Layla! ❤️❤️❤️

    I Love that you all are reading that book, I recommend it to "everyone." It's not just good for couples in teaching them how to Love one another, but we can learn the Love language of everyone in our lives, especially our children, so we can Love them how they receive Love versus how we want to Love them. There is a "Five Love Languages" single edition that teaches this. I guess neither of you like "gifts," because that's the one you left out...lol. However, I believe there are six Love languages, because my Love language is "protection." Also, if you still don't know each others Love language, you can usually tell a person's Love language by what they do for "you," usually we Love how we want to be Loved. If someone always gives you gifts, it's because they like receiving gifts, their Love language is "gifts." Or, you can tell by what someone complains about. If someone always complains about needing help around the house, their Love language is "acts of service." You guys are great, goodbye.

    GREAT, AWESOME, WONDERFUL BOOK! 👌 📚
    I’m like Carlin: it's HARD for me to figure out my top love language or 2!!! I think I’m truly a mixture of all 5, because people have done all 5 to/for me in the past at separate times, & I still look back on memories for each love language, & STILL feel extremely touched & appreciative of that person showing deep love & care for me in that particular way! 💜 🤷🏽‍♀️
    Evan, Carlin’s right: you are pretty perfect!! I recall in your vlog from a couple weeks earlier, when you all we're leaving your parents’ house at the end of your Labor Day Weekend there, that you helped her into the car & then shut the door for her!!! Most men FORGET to continue those ”tiny” chivalrous gestures after dating their special ladies for awhile! 😮 😪 So great job! 👌 💜

But truly we need all of them to varying degrees to feel fully loved and received.

    Yup marriage is a job! You gotta work at it!! 26 years of ups and downs. Just think about the issue. Is it going to matter in 5 years??
    Keep working at it! You guys are awesome.

    I’m obsessed with 5 Love Languages. They have one for figuring out kids Languages and they have one for singles that’s all about different kinds of relationships. So use this knowledge for loving your friends & family better too. That’s what I do 👍🏻
    There is a quiz in the physical book you can take to help you figure it out. I don’t know if they have it in the audio book though.

    Gary Chapman came to our church back around 2002 and we did this book study with him. As I recall, we have a tendency to practice the love language toward our mate in the way WE ourselves like to be shown love. My husband loves clean car interiors, so he’ll clean out my car and expects me to get excited. But how do I show HIM my love for him?? By cleaning out my own car myself...so he doesn’t have to do it for me. ☺️💕

    Love that book and it is kinda confusing to figure out the love languages. I kinda think they change by season of life. Before we had kids things were easier around the house. Less housework etc. Now with kids it's a whole different ballgame to keep the house/family afloat.

    Never argue in your bedroom.
    That should be your safe place of comfort ♥️🙏 and "arguing is normal...it's "how" you argue that makes it worthwhile, or hurtful.

    Loved this vlog. Marriage isn’t easy you need to always work on it. I have heard about the 5 love languages but never tried it with my husband. You guys just gave me a great idea. After 17 years of marriage I think I have an idea but it would be nice to explore that with him. I love your vlog. Be blessed!!!

    Marriage is definitely work. You have good and rough times. If you have people in your life with good marriages, they often make it look easy, effortless and like a thing of beauty. It’s definitely not for the faint of heart.

    You can narrow your options down on your love language by seeing how you feel by others and not just Even. Sometimes when our hubby’s do things we jut eat it up because of who it is. Love you two!

    Carlin, you can take an online quiz and it will help you figure out which love language or two is yours! It asks questions that don’t just pertain to your significant other. It helped me.
