    You Should Upgrade Sway Bars before Coilovers. Here's why: th-cam.com/video/HPE0pXHu-MA/w-d-xo.html

    I love these technical videos on suspension, especially because they contain both theory as well as the actual installation.

    Lowering your car will 💯 put preload on the sway bar as well so yes, they are still needed when you lower your car.

      That’s what I was thinking when I’m cornering especially high speed the car kinda wobbles side to side in the rear I’m thinking shortened sway links in the rear would really help settle that rear end in hard cornering

  • @ProcTech

    Must have been because I only lifted one side but after removing the nuts off I could not pop out the old stock end link. May try again after watching this video.

      yep doing both sides at the same time is key

    Would you recommend to have weights on the passenger side as well if I often have someone with me,?

    Question - a lot of the guides for end links stress the need to raise both wheels to ride height (off the jackstands) so that the sway bar is not preloaded when it is lowered on the ground.
    I’m planning to get an alignment anyway but just wanted to know your thoughts on this.
    Also for EDC cars going with non-EDC coils, the stock end link on one of the front sides does not fit non-EDC struts, so new end links are definitely needed in those cases, and adjustables are worth it since they’re just 40 bucks over the oe replacements - just thought you’d like to know!

    • @kern417
      @kern417  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      If you're getting an alignment then it basically does the same thing. You want the car level with driver's weight in the seat, and then adjust the end links so there's no preload. It's easier for a tech to do it on an alignment rack.

    • @warhawksxaid
      @warhawksxaid 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thanks for the response - Ill just follow your method and let the alignment techs do any needed adjustments

    FANTASTIC video my friend. I don't have fancy end links on my Supra, but when I put my front Whiteline bar on full stiff, I need a jack and a lot of muscle just to get the final end bolted in.
    Do you think that much preload is really bad for my handling? It's been years and the links have been fine and the car seems to handle amazing, but I am wondering if I should have gone adjustable.

    Correct me if im wrong, people who want the most performance out of their F3X Xdrive suspension need adjustable links when lowering their car. But for people who just want to slam their Xdrive Shitbox for the look don’t need links. Or… is that dangerous😂

    Thanks.

    So I have lowering springs and upgraded sway bars. After I lowered my car, the swaybar where it connects to the end links is pointed more towards the ground than it was stock, because I have the stock length (but upgraded, non-adjustable) end links. Do I need to get adjustable end links to make the swaybar point parallel with the floor/car? We installed this on a lift so i don't think I had any pre-load applied to one end of the swaybar vs the other

  • @zanmasterr

    I had a mobile alignment guy corner balance my car coil overs basically everything is new but there’s a slight vibration on certain roads. Hard to explain. Can it be the adjustable and links?

    Another great video. Did your 340i come with the track package? It's my understanding that the track handling package came with m brakes, vss, adaptive suspension and additional oil cooers as well as a trans cooler. Do you by change have a video discussing this topic? I am looking to get a f30 340i as a project car that i can track and I'm trying to figure out if the THP is something i should be holding out for. I can't find much info out there. The additional oil coolers imo would be worth it.

    • @kern417
      @kern417  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It does have it but I don't think it's a requirement. It has extra radiators not really oil coolers, but they do indirectly cool the oil. The brakes are nice but base 340 brakes are still brembo calipers in front, so aggressive track pads should handle a beating.

    Hey Kern, do you know anyway to play with front camber on the Xdrive cars other than the camber plates?

    • @ComeandDriveIt
      @ComeandDriveIt ปีที่แล้ว

      SPL makes front lower control arms that can do that.

    • @kern417
      @kern417  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The control arms are actually worse. On xdrive cars It can damage the axles. I recommend camber plates.

    • @ComeandDriveIt
      @ComeandDriveIt ปีที่แล้ว

      @@kern417 how are the axles damaged/failing? Is it wear in the CV over time, or something more immediate?

    • @kern417
      @kern417  ปีที่แล้ว

      When you extend the control arms to add camber, it pulls the front axles to a bad position. Kies motorsports posted a video about it when he installed f8x arms on his f30.

    Hey kern, thx for the great content once again. I really need youre advise on the right map i should use . Heres the thing, im currently stage 2+ mhd with hpfp tu on my m440i 2019. I live in canada and here all i can get at pump gaz is 94 oct. But mhd only have fuel map for 93 and 95 oct. ...should i flash 93 or 95 oct?

    • @KurumaDesigns
      @KurumaDesigns ปีที่แล้ว

      Tried researching this some, looks like the best option for you is to go with a 91 oct tune. You can try 93 as well, but you really have to do some logs and look at your afr and timing corrections. Kern has a great video explaining how to read logs if you don’t know how.

    • @ai3270
      @ai3270 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@KurumaDesignsi ran both 95 and 93 maps and logs looks better with 95 to me . Well lol as much as i can understand from what ive learned online😂
      Rail pressure looks stable wgdc also. On 93 tune my boost psi rarely meets the target psi . And theres more cyl correction.
