Guitar Lab mode on Zoom R20

ZOOM Guitar Lab is a software that lets you create patches across their multieffects devices, and also on their R20 recorder. Installing the software will not only allow you to edit the effects more easily, but also give you access to some pretty sweet effects that aren't preinstalled on the hardware.

Some bands / artists I've been following for a long time are (among others) Massive Attack, Pink Floyd, Pet Shop Boys, Archive, A-Ha, Yes, Porcupine Tree, John Mellencamp, Jean-Michel Jarre, Metallica, Peter Gabriel and Perturbator. So my music will kind of sound like those (without ever reaching the greatness of those artists, of course). :-)

Thanks for watching! You can use a "direct monitoring" switch, in that case, there's no latency to speak of, the R20 behaves just like a pedal. In case you're using it as an audio interface, the usual system latencies of Windows/Linux/MacOS apply (usually around 10-15 ms)

Hi, thanks for watching! While in guitar lab mode, you can't. But once you've set up all your effects, you can edit them on the R20's touch screen.

What are all the cables you have plugged into each inputs? Are you using adapters to plug things that aren't XLRs into them?

I'm using adapter cables by a company named Stagg. They're nicely color-coded and robust.

It's a shame this Zoom thing doesn't have a MIDI IN socket for sync purposes. How long we have to wait.

In order to connect a MIDI keyboard to the R20, you need an adapter cable that has USB-C on one end. The other end should match your keyboard's USB port.
