Thanks Jeremy! I'm really happy with it. Just discovered your channel too, some really good stuff there! Been wanting to build my own strandbeest for ever! One day one day :)
I’ve been enjoying all your videos but this one especially. Great attention to details in the controller and making the video. I’m watching with interest and could be interested in having one of these. It’d be great to meet you on the hill some time, if we actually get any flying weather in the uk!
nice work! great attention to detail. what CAD software and 3D printer are you using? a tip: seems like you did not use any pull up resistors. these could lower interference (at least on the push buttons.. you don't want your reserve going out by mistake :D)
Thanks Gian. I used solidworks and don't have a 3D printer so my friend Dave printed it for me. I think it has one similar to the prusa i3. Yes I didn't as I didn't know it was a good idea to do that. Would you put a resistor in line with each button/slider? ohms?
I did a bit of research and apparently the Arduino already has integrated pullup/pulldown resistors but you need to activate them in code. www.arduino.cc/en/Tutorial/DigitalPins "There are 20K pullup resistors built into the Atmega chip that can be accessed from software. These built-in pullup resistors are accessed by setting the pinMode() as INPUT_PULLUP. This effectively inverts the behavior of the INPUT mode, where HIGH means the sensor is off, and LOW means the sensor is on." This is a good tutorial on the subject th-cam.com/video/wxjerCHCEMg/w-d-xo.html
oh makes sense. the sliders and pots don't need it as they are analog and they always have some resistance even when they are at zero. for the toggles and buttons you're basically shorting a pin to ground and you're right they do need either a pull up resistor or to activate the arduino ones. I looked at the code and I do initialize them and pull them up to start with :D I'm so lazy with it that most of the time i copy paste code and see if it works xD Are you thinking of building one? would be awesome if you did
absolutely, i'm a big believer in open source software and hardware. At the moment I've put the files and code on patreon because in these initial months I'm really trying to grow my following there to make sure that I can continue to do this, but I will happily release the cad files and arduino code once the game is out so that people can build their own too. Also if there are enough interested people I might do a limited run of these like 10 or 20 but I think it will likely end up too expensive for people that want one and probably to cheap for me to make them if you know what I mean
Hi Andre, how are you? I hope so, it's Deiwis here from Brazil. You are the very best guy in your videos. However, in this one I have a doubt. I'm trying to assemble the control that shows and the code when playing for the arduino pro Micro is showing an error. This error here: 'class Joystick_' has no member named 'setXAxisRotation'; did you mean '_xAxisRotation'? Could you tell me what I could be doing wrong? if I remove the 3 axes of what are referring to the circular POTs it loads on the arduino. but with it included it does not load. Thank you very much for the great help you give us with your videos and the content available.
@@AndreBandarra1 Thanks for answering Andre, I'm excited I already have a select one in place and I bought both of your simulators, use Xbox controls without problems, I've already tested them, but I like to learn how to do things, but I struggle a lot in the most complex parts. arduino there was a lot of talk I hated hahaha today I'm finding it very interesting, I built a vario that I liked a lot and now I'm trying metro for this control. (I keep in mind that I can't create anything from scratch but the "copies" already helps a lot to meet a lot of things. Thanks for sharing friend. Success to you!
@@deiwisstanczyk9383 Thanks Deiwis and I'm glad you're enjoying trying things and testing and learning arduino stuff. However, just to let you know, I don't sell any simulators at the moment. There are paragliding sims on the market but they have been done by other people. Andre,
You always impress me, I love your work, the world needs more people like you, keep it up bro. Veni, vidi, vici .
Awesome! You made me grin when the youtube video sound responded to you analog controls :) - nice touch.
ahah, thought you and Joao would appreciate that :D
Yes I also noticed that small detail :D indeed a nice touch
@@AndreBandarra1 I appreciated the music responding to the CAD software haha!
That blue print turned out spectacular.

Awesome, thanks! They are a lot of fun, but I've found them to be more work than I expected. Of course, I guess that's every project ;-)
Hi Andre, I do the same sort of stuff, 3D all my cases and panels. I think if we ever met for coffee it would be an all day thing haha!

thank you so much for the support Ben :) means a lot
it's amazing how the idea arises
Awesome!
For the final product I think the reserve should be on the other side: handled by the right hand!
Man... cool!!!!!!
Bloody brilliant mate!
What is your job Andre beside of paragliding? As I see you are very familiar with some sort of engineering! Awesome job in da video!!
I used to be a mechanical engineer with experience in R&D of new products :)
Make that game bro!

Andre Bandarra are you thinking of open sourcing it? I haven't done an arduino project in a while but would enjoy contributing :)

deberías hacer un control remoto rc
it would be cool if you made it with first person

Olá Deiwis! I’m not sure, it’s hard to tell but I would check what joystick library you are using as it sounds like it doesn’t have that command.
