My childhood album memory is buying Ghost in the Machine by The Police in the early 80s....the album was superb and a great cover! Ian
Hey, thanks Ian for watching and thanks for the compliments. Ghost In The Machine is an incredible listen...always loved that album. What's your favorite off of it? Mine's always been Every Little Thing She Does Is Magic. I love the melodic energy.
@@ConglomerationCat Hi Sam, yep a great album. Spirits in the Material World, Every Little Thing She Does is Magic and Invisible Sun are brilliant songs. Like the pace of Invisible Sun the way it fades in, captures the mood of the song perfectly. I remember Demolition Man appearing on the Sly Stallone movie soundtrack of the same name 👌
@@ianmchale5733 Yeah, I remember that too. I always loved the Ska-Reggie platforms they used on that album. I read somewhere that Andy didn't like it too much. Didn't like the synthesizer layers. I think it's just enough without overdoing it.

Cool list! My ex-girlfriend loved that Cat Stevens record. I also have a mint condition RL LZ2 record. I paid a fortune for it and it's the loudest record I've ever heard! Worth every penny. My list would be if I had to pick just one of each of my favorite bands. I like mostly hard rock and heavy metal. 1) Billy Joel- The Stranger 1977 2) Led Zeppelin- Presence 1977 (Underrated album) 3) Black Sabbath- Paranoid 1970 4) RUSH- Hemispheres 1978 5) Judas Priest- Stained Class 1978 6)Thin Lizzy- Thunder & Lightning 1983 (Underrated album) 7)Deep Purple- Made in Japan 1972 8) UFO- Force It 1975 9) Dio- Holy Diver 1983 10) Rainbow- Rising 1976 11) Iron Maiden- Live After Death and the first 7 albums! 1980-88 (Can't pick just one) Oh yeah, how could I forget the greatest debut album of all time? Boston- 1976!
Great picks! I've always thought Bookends is a perfect album first note to last. Some might argue that Voices Of Old People is filler but I think it fits very well in the flow. Another perfect album is Nick Drake-Bryter Layter. Your album covers are in immaculate condition. I noticed your copy o' Rewind is still sealed. It's a fold out...have you seen the inside? You obviously treat your records with respect. Did your father teach you that? A third perfect album for me is Moody Blues-To Our Children's Children's Children.
Hey, thanks again for watching! I have seen the inside. Both my mother and Father taught me at a very early age to take good care of my belongings and handled things with care.. But I always kept my vinyl collection very clean and organized. I love I'd Never Thought I'd Never Live To Be A Hundred-Million. Always a sucker for Justin Hayward's fingerstyle on an acoustic. I think he bought a Martin D-28 during that period.. Take care, friend!
A very good list. I'm glad your viewer mentioned the David Crosby anniversary edition. I didn't like the album much when it first came out....but still have my original copy. It's grown over the years. There is a recent SACD that sounds so beautiful. OMG the Johnny Rivers is one of my very favorites. It's a wonderful album of it's time, but still holds up beautifully. Glad you chose that one. He's from Baton Rouge and I am in New Orleans. Got to see him a few years back. He did Summer Rain. Beautiful song. Buy the way, if your hair was shorter, you would look just like my oral surgeon 😂🤣 I'm not sure if that's a good thing or a bad thing😂🤣
That's a first, lol!!...Too funny. Hey, thank you so much for watching... Realization should get a lot more attention than it deserves. I would love an anniversary pressing of that. Summer Rain is such a timeless piece. Love it. Take good care!

you used to go to Rasputins? So did I, especially when they used to put free records out on the sidewalk. I used to go every day and cart off as many records as I could on the bus or my motorcycle.
it was fun in those days but you should see it now. The racks are full of overpriced reissues of classic albums and CDs that even one their employees admits almost no one buys anymore. It's sad.@@ConglomerationCat
it was incredible, many of the records they gave away were rare and valuable. I got an album by Geordie the band Brian Johnson sang with before AC/DC. But people would scatter some of the records into the street and someone reported the store to the police and they were cited for littering.@@ConglomerationCat
Loved every one of your choices except for the Johnny Rivers, which I'm not familiar with. I will check that one out. Thanks. Btw, the Neil Young pick is very unique, but a really good one. I look forward to your video comparing the mixes. I picked up a beat up old copy of that album with the alternate cover decades ago, but it was in such rough shape I could not really enjoy it.
@@guytapper999 Hey thanks! Yeah, that original mix is tough to find in any good condition. I lucked out and got a pretty clean copy. I'm looking forward to doing a comparison for sure. I hope you can find the Johnny Rivers album. The bass playing alone is intriguing. His name was Joe Osborne. He was part of the Wrecking Crew and played bass on tons of albums from The Association, The Carpenters, Seals and Crofts, America and countless others. Thanks again for watching!

I believe it was TB that hospitalized Cat Stevens then, which is when he wrote the songs for Tea for the Tillerman. That is also my Most favorite album. Pure genius.
by the time I actually fell in love w/R&R & BLUES, it was the early '70's, and I was an early teen .I remember (BEATLES & HENDRIX are 2 of my faves) thinking, ''why does Sgt.Pepper, for a lot of people, define that period, while this masterpiece, ELECTRIC LADYLAND isn't talked about in such glowing terms?'' today in NE, it's a 'rainy day' again!! but, anyway, Jimi plays in a sophisticated way, but also blazes thru R&R like 'Come on pt.1'.'1983' is one of the masterpieces of this audio trip, w/ space sounds, Atlantis stories, and so forth. this record, even today, isn't given the accolades it highly deserves, which amazes me. I suppose it has to do w/ the fact that Janie Hendrix sees to it that we can only get bootlegs of Jimi on TH-cam .I haven't really searched much lately on YT for more, but it's very obvious my fellow music lovers just don't hear it. not the most radio friendly LP he did. but where ever he is, I'm sure he has no regrets in that area. I, like yourself, am a huge fan of Neil Young, especially his CRAZY HORSE work. saw them outside at nite. I'm sure folks a mile away could hear the sonic power. I went to see his documentary shot at the Grand Ole Opry, a few years back. he mentions matter of factly, to the Ryman auditorium crowd, that "this is Hank's guitar". I was flabbergasted. anyway, you have impeccable taste, my friend. I'm very sorry about your Dad. my Dad hated R&R, but loved SINATRA, and made me a fan for life. lost him suddenly in Jan.2000. on August15th, '99, at (formerly) YASGUR'S FARM, I saw David Crosby play w/ his son on the 30th anniversary of Woodstock. because of what I remember to be an absence of a decent emcee, I left in order to catch a bus back to NYC, then to Boston(as I had no other ride, and rumors abounded that Johnny Winter was either 1)a no show, or 2)wasn't happy unless he closed instead of Crosby, 3)or sick.) turns out, an hour to 90 minutes later JW came out .a guy who lived in my home town told me, later. but I'd seen him 3 times, and I knew he was a shell of his former self. but the historic value of him coming back 30 years later, wasn't something I wanted to miss. live and learn.
I never tire of Electric Ladyland, I always find and hear something new with each listen. Thanks for your stories and memories and thanks for watching!
Tillerman is mostly 10/10. Into White/Die Tonight is an 8. I mostly forgot LadyLand, but I remember it being great, and Watchtower is mental. I have the same copy of Zep II! Mine’s a little beat though.😢 Can’t say much for U2. Never heard it. Can’t say much for Crosby. Just picked up a White Album at my Books a Million! Rocky Raccoon, Helter Skelter, Back in the USSR, Ob La Di, Happiness, I’m not even scratching the surface! I have a copy of Synchronicity. King of Pain, Every Breath… I need to do a full listen. Bookends with Mrs Robinson, Old People, America… I need to listen again. Can’t say much about Rivers. Wait, THE Whiskey? The Doors Whiskey? Can’t say much about Young. For me, I’m not sure, but Tillerman, Zep IV, Here’s Little Richard, Zapp, and No Fences would be on there!
U2 October is a great album. "I Threw a Brick through a Window" should have been a single, it's more powerful than "Fire. "Gloria" was a good choice as a single although it wasn't included on U2's Greatest Hits 1980-1990. No songs were included except for "October" which was thrown at the end as a hidden track attached to "All I Want is You" and wasn't mentioned anywhere.
Oh that's crazy, I didn't know that... "I Threw A Brick Through A Window" is really impactful. Such atmosphere. I do have to admit that I can go either way with "A Day With Me". "Tomorrow" is pretty intense. Bono admits it was about being at his mother's funeral. The musicality sounds like something out of a movie. Steve Lilywhite sure does an amazing job producing.
@@ConglomerationCat I mistakingly mentioned "A Day Without Me" and just remembered that song is from "Boy", which I can't believe I did because I'm a big U2 fan . I will have to edit the original message now.
You are wearing a Who shirt, so why isnt Who's Next on the list? I have the White Album, XTC's Nonsuch, Kinks Arthur, Thin Lzzy Jailbreak and Jimi's Greatest Hits
Nice album choices. No Melanie? I guess you were too young to get into her music. She was at the top of the charts in 1971. If you have any interest in Melanie, Cleopatra records is releasing her album "Stoneground words" on vinyl and CD this month. Just before she died she recorded an album to be released soon. It's the only album she recorded without her producer husband that died 11 years ago. I can't wait to hear it!
Oh I certainly remember Melanie, I had a crush on her back in the day. I loved hearing the story of how she was so nervous to perform at the Isle Of Wight in 1970 that Keith Moon helped her through it by making jokes and making her laugh. A great photo exists of her, Keith and Pete. I was shocked when she passed. Kinda broke my heart. Mainly because you never really heard anything negative about her.

😃Great intro...it was an SCTV moment..lol. Great pics for top 10! Always nice to see a variety and appreciation of music. Keep upthe good work!
P..S..your Weasel Craig impression was spot on👍
Hey, thanks friend! I've seen the film so much that I hear everyone's voice in my head, lol. Glad you enjoyed the video and stay tuned!
That hot mix really makes Bonzo stand out. What about that Bring it on home riff? So much chunk!
You're exactly right! The dynamics in general are breathtaking. Thanks for watching and take good care!
Just when I was getting burned out with this thread, a home run hits my algorithm. Loved it, subscribed.
Hey, thank you so much friend!
Really enjoying this brother ❤
Thanks! It was fun to make.
Lol I have a cat, named Kat that is my cohost on my channel. Basically it is his channel and I just cohost the video. My cat tends to be more grumpy and needy. This has been a nice thread as it allows us to find new channels. I am a fan of U2 also but I like them into the 00s. Some great classics in your collection. I’m going to give you a sub so my cat and watch your cat lol
Good morning Steve! Pumpkin will love the big following, LOL. We'll both keep a look out for Kat. 😸 I just subscribed and looking forward to your going through your channel. Take good care and thanks for connecting!
Lol, funny intro, just my tastes in humor. Great great story with pics of your childhood and your dad. May the memories stay with you with big smile! So cool your dad hot his song played on Mac Davis. Im sure that made your fathers week.
And great Top 10 choices. Im not even sure what mine would be. Probably Hank Williams Sr and early Elvis Sun comp lps. A Dylan, Blonde On Blonde or Highway 61 gosh Id have to think about it.
Enjoyable video and subscribed👍🏻
Hey, thanks John! Sure do appreciate it! My father certainly made his rounds back in the day. I hope you're having a great weekend and I just subscribed back.
I am currently using the same amp. Sony, that is in the stereo your dad had.
That's really cool.... It maintains the warmth and confidence.
Haha great intro! And some great choices - all awesome albums. New subscriber take care cheers
Thank you friend! Thanks so much for watching! New subscriber as well. Have a great weekend coming up!
Hi Sam, just stumbled across your channel and now subbed up. Fab vid thoroughly enjoyed it. The cats a doll can’t understand why she(?) Isn’t earning the big bucks fir you. Loved the pic of the So Cal house you grew up in, it looked fabulous, I can almost smell the woodiness of it. Oh yeah, the intro I also favour pushing people of cliffs, no way forensics can pin that one on you. Andy
Hi Andy, hey thanks for the kind compliments. She's still learning how to navigate on Indeed 🐱🐱 That living room was magical as a child. Thanks for watching, friend and I'm subbing right back. Take good care!
Great video! I love your top 10 selections. I'm much older than you and yet we have many of the same albums in our top 10. The difference being my top ten would include Bob Dylan's Blond on Blond, The Who, Who's Next, Neil Young's Harvest and The Beach Boys Holland. I'll have to see if I can find a copy of the Johnny River's album. Sounds interesting.
That's so cool... I have a few of those as well. It's fun to hear someone else's top favorites. Yeah, check on Johnny Rivers Realization. I think you'd like it.
Thanks so much for watching and hope you're having a good weekend.
Take good care!
Great vid Sam and some nice memories of your father. Sounds like a great man! White Album is amazing, being from Liverpool myself i'm not biased in any way, shape or form 😂.
Great video! Possibly the best one I have seen on this subject. Obviously lots of love went into its creation. We have lots of music in common. So much that I will be seeking out October and Realization. Oh and my daughter adopted an older tabby who was set to be put down and she brought so much love into our lives until she died…they are the best! Subscribed.
Thank you so much, incredibly kind of you. I like assembling these videos a lot. My wife does the editing so we make a pretty good team when paired up. Something about Tabby's...they fill your heart to the fullest 😸😸😸 Thank you so much again and thanks for watching! Stay tuned...I subscribed as well. Have a great weekend!
The intro. of the video hooked me in. I appreciate humor and creativity. I’m curious…I noticed The Who shirt. What is the go to album by them for you? Anyway, you have a new subscriber and look forward to digging into other videos. Take care…
Hey friend, thanks so much for watching....I just made another video. I've included my favorite Who album in that one. I just subscribed to you as well. You take good care!
1) Billy Joel- The Stranger 1977
2) Led Zeppelin- Presence 1977 (Underrated album)
3) Black Sabbath- Paranoid 1970
4) RUSH- Hemispheres 1978
5) Judas Priest- Stained Class 1978
6)Thin Lizzy- Thunder & Lightning 1983 (Underrated album)
7)Deep Purple- Made in Japan 1972
8) UFO- Force It 1975
9) Dio- Holy Diver 1983
10) Rainbow- Rising 1976
11) Iron Maiden- Live After Death and the first 7 albums! 1980-88 (Can't pick just one)
Oh yeah, how could I forget the greatest debut album of all time?
@@ConglomerationCat I think you should look up Dr. Michael Ferguson oral surgery services Metairie, La. His picture is there. Take away the long hair and glasses and I think there is a definite resemblance. You will have to let me know if I am way off base. It was my first thought.
@@davidkunzli680 I can see just a little resemblance...not too much though, lol...
Hey! Just came across your channel this morning as a suggestion. Love your shirt! (Big Who fan here) Dig your cat too. U2 October... I AGREE!!!!
that T-shirt is too cool for school. Keith Moon is in a well known photo behind his kit, w/ both bass drums having this SUPERMAN like WHO logo. GOTTA GET ONE! but where?
Thank you friend! I totally agree... I got mine online and I did a search that said The Who Keith Moon drum logo and then a few options came up. Try that and let me know what you find. I got it almost two years ago. Thanks for watching and take good care!

you used to go to Rasputins? So did I, especially when they used to put free records out on the sidewalk. I used to go every day and cart off as many records as I could on the bus or my motorcycle.
Absolutely! I'd sometimes blow a whole allowance in that place, lol!
it was fun in those days but you should see it now. The racks are full of overpriced reissues of classic albums and CDs that even one their employees admits almost no one buys anymore. It's sad.@@ConglomerationCat
@@TooSkinnyKenny Wow, that is a shame.... kind of surreal in a way......
it was incredible, many of the records they gave away were rare and valuable. I got an album by Geordie the band Brian Johnson sang with before AC/DC. But people would scatter some of the records into the street and someone reported the store to the police and they were cited for littering.@@ConglomerationCat
Your wish has been granted. There is a 50th anniversary edition of Crosby's IICORMN with a disk of bonus material released in 2021.
Reallyyyyyy....wellllll....guess what I'm on the hunt for....🤔
Loved every one of your choices except for the Johnny Rivers, which I'm not familiar with.
Here's a list of gems
Force Majeure - Tangerine Dream
Kristofferson - Kris Kristofferson
Something Else - The Kinks
Sandy Denny and the Strawbs - Sandy Denny and the Strawbs
Aereo-Plain - John Hartford
Stand Up - Jethro Tull
American Woman - The Guess Who
Over - Peter Hammill
Pawn Hearts - Van der Graaf Generator
Irene - Caetano Veloso
Very cool! Great, eclectic list! Thanks for the listing and watching!
I believe it was TB that hospitalized Cat Stevens then, which is when he wrote the songs for Tea for the Tillerman. That is also my Most favorite album. Pure genius.
Yeah, that's right I seem now to recall VH1's Behind The Music stating that. Such a wonderful album start to finish. Very intimate.
Yes TB
Actually, I have always loved Mother on Syncronicity since it came out, it's a fun Andy Summers song.
I think Sting often felt the same way. I also loved his other composition that was a B side called "Someone To Talk To".
by the time I actually fell in love w/R&R & BLUES, it was the early '70's, and I was an early teen .I remember (BEATLES & HENDRIX are 2 of my faves) thinking, ''why does Sgt.Pepper, for a lot of people, define that period, while this masterpiece, ELECTRIC LADYLAND isn't talked about in such glowing terms?'' today in NE, it's a 'rainy day' again!! but, anyway, Jimi plays in a sophisticated way, but also blazes thru R&R like 'Come on pt.1'.'1983' is one of the masterpieces of this audio trip, w/ space sounds, Atlantis stories, and so forth. this record, even today, isn't given the accolades it highly deserves, which amazes me.
Mine’s a little beat though.😢
Can’t say much for U2.
Tea for the aTillerman is a great album
It's just middle of the road 70s guff
The CARS!!!!
Johnny Rivers at the Whiskey a go go was a good one.
Harvest? Deja Vu? Just so many,
I own both... Very tough decisions, I know!! Lol..
Thanks for watching and take good care!
@ConglomerationCat got my freak flag going lol
Great choices...my top 10 is Led Zeppelin 1-10,or Neil Young 1-10.
Thank you and thanks again for watching!
@@Blockhopper That's hysterical because I fell for it! Lol.... Don't worry about it... That's too funny...
Please have Pink Floyd......or Temple of the Dog!
You are wearing a Who shirt, so why isnt Who's Next on the list? I have the White Album, XTC's Nonsuch, Kinks Arthur, Thin Lzzy Jailbreak and Jimi's Greatest Hits
Hey great stuff! Stay tuned...I've got something up my sleeve...pardon the Bullwinkle reference.
Thanks for watching! Take good care.
