rey alamo Hello! I am looking at both the Toyko and Miami. I, primarily, will be using the bike to ride around the Upper West Side and through various nearby parks for softball games. Do you prefer one over the other?
Thanks for the review on the Miami model. Was torn between getting this or the Gotham7 as a commuter/fun bike. Surprisingly, despite being around for a few years, there seem to be only a few random YT reviews on these bikes so its a little hard to get an average opinion on these bikes. I just ordered the Miami for myself and the Tokyo for my wife. Hopefully, we'll get them in by next week so we can take them for a spin.
The bike works for anyone, they are great for the average person...hence its name name. There other brands out there with better components but for the price and value, citizen by far passes everyone else.
Hi, I am struggling between buying Miami or Tokyo. Can I ask how tall is your wife? I am 5"4. Did you order 16" inches or 20"inches for her? And how she likes it? I live in NYC and planning to ride it almost everyday to school and work. Thanks!
ying chow My wife is 4'11 so the 16" was fine for her. I'm 5'8" so the 20" was fine for me. However we might be selling the off soon. Reason being that the bikes were supposed ti be car bikes meaning we wanted to be able to pack them in our car trunk to take whenever without having to resort to a bike rack. Unfortunately, these bikes dont fold as compactly as I thought. Will not fit two in my Mini as I wanted so might just have to go with the Brompton folding bike.
Thanks for your reply. I think 16" would be good for me and easier to carry around compare to 20". I am sorry to here that bikes are not able to fit as you planned. Would adding a bike rack works? i saw many add rack onto their car. if you are selling? How much you are selling it for?
ying chow shes 5'2'' and the miami comes with the 20'' wheels and she rides along with no problem. The seats and handle bars are adjustable so I would recommended the Miami over the Tokyo. Both are good bikes but the Miami is more versatile. The bigger wheels will make riding and coasting alot easier.
Just purchased the miami! I'm so excited! I did not purchase the carrying bag and I'm looking for a cheap folding bike bag alternative. Any suggestions?
how is the ride with it?? beacause i read a comment from another video that was saying that its not steady. did you have any problem with it?? is it tought riding it? i don't want to be afraid that is going to brake while im riding it... :P please answer sir.
Cool...thanks another question, how hard is it to get a workout in everyday ? or atleast find a gym near the area ur dropping off @ ? i wanna get a oil field driver position so i can be home most days and make good money...any knowledge on that will also be GREAT ! ride safe dude
Looks like a great option for getting to the store while driving but don't try to go trail riding with it : ) Anyway, how much did it cost if you don't mind me asking?
Hi thanks for posting! I'm 5'2" - wondering what you think about the size of the Miami when you have it at lowest seat height? do you think it'd be possible for someone my size to stand over the seat with feet touching ground easily? I think I prefer this model over the Tokyo. I've had my eye on one of these babies for the past couple years and am finally breaking down to get one!
So you still got the bike? Have any problems? I want to get the same bike in another color. Could you please make another video now you had it over 20 months and the 1 year warranty is up.
I want to buy this to fit in my clothes closet. Do you know or can you measure for me the overall width. I think I only have 24" of room to be able to close my closet doors. Thanks
devilrocksass its alright. Its not a spring gel seat comfortable....but its okay for short distances. Long distances will be an issue but I use to an avid mt bike rider and its all about your muscles getting use to seat for long periods of time.
Thank you for the video, I want to buy a bike soon, and i have a concern about this bike's quality !, after more than 10 months riding it now is everything still almost the same as the 1st time you ride it ?, the locks in folding and unfolding it, still the same ? or getting more lose ? the tires ? the brakes ?. I mean the parts quality is it good or not ?
Thanks for uploading this; I'm looking for a folding bike, so these kinds of videos help a lot. Any updates on how the bike is working out? Any parts break? Does it feel solid?
The bike is solid, other than normal chain adjustment and making the securing bolts are tight, the bike is a huge improvement from what I have seen in the earlier Miami models.
ricecakeFTW Wow this is an improvement on the one that I have. I love how the back and front tire lock. My Miami doesn't do that. Stock seat sucks. Went to amazon and got a much better one for cheap. Got higher pressure tires that I can crank up to 75 p.s.i. now all I need to do is get some thumbshifters and I am good to go.
Anyone know if the citizen bikes can be purchased or delivered to the united kingdom?..I have tried contacting them direct, with no reply at all. Thanks in advance.
I had this friend I knew really well. He drove a Garbage truck on E St. NY and made more money and friends than god. I think he wants to get a bike like this now. His name was Shen. Ask around, he'll get you a job:)
I love the video. You seem like a real cool guy! I am seriously thinking about making this investment. I want to lose this 80 pds I gained from eating with my gf. I am going to lose this and considering doing a 10k cycling challenge. Good luck with your bike!!
how tall are you? It seems a bit too small :( How far the seat goes up? I am 6'2" and I am wondering if it would be too small ... my apartment is too small and the normal size bike takes too much space.
Fairly well, havn't got to ride it much but the tires still hold air, inner tubes are still good, and when I need it, it works. Had to adjust the shift cables alittle but tuning it up is inevitable as time goes on.
Paco Perea Dahon is for actual commuting longer distances and if you need to keep up with traffic in a city....plus higher quality bits, brakes/ shifter. The Citizen is basic folding bike just to travel short distances. It does the job for me.
This is great for general aviation. Where space and weight restrictions really limit what you can take with you in smaller aircraft. This will pay for itself with money saved by not renting cars around the airport.
I have the navy blue Miami. I bought mine in 2016 when it was only $199.00 I SHOULD HAVE BOUGHT THE ONE OF THE MORE COMFORTABLE SEATS FOR $19.00 WITH MY PURCHASE. No, I ordered it with the stock seat.
Your going to have to give a urine and hair follicle as a drug test. There is also a physical assessment (somehow this throws people off) lol Simple lifting and checking heart rate. They suggest not to drink coffee on the PA day. Be willing to learn, experience will come with time. Learning the Qualcomm on TE week will help out 100% during your 3rd week. :) Hope this helps!
If taking the bike as a checked bag on an airline, don't tell them its a bike. Many air carriers, if not most, have a special up charge for bicycles, even folding bikes that fit in a bag. US Airways, for example, wants an additional $195 each way to Europe.
Surprised by your appreciation. Citizen bikes are the junkiest bikes made. Use the absolute lowest quality fixtures and components. They do not last. They are extremely heany. Company is shady.
OMGosh so freakin shakey...Shakier that the Blair Witch. Thanks for setting the camera down. I almost left your review bc it was so distracting. But I liked the way you showed how to unfold the bike, etc. Nice.
I have the tokyo and the Miami, bought them two years ago, still going strong, we ride all over NYC every weekend, best bikes ever.
rey alamo Hello! I am looking at both the Toyko and Miami. I, primarily, will be using the bike to ride around the Upper West Side and through various nearby parks for softball games. Do you prefer one over the other?
Thinking of purchasing this and your video showed me a bunch of things I wanted to see. Thanks man!
You are so funny man! :) Thanks for the review, just ordered mine today (GOTHAM7) cant wait to try it. Hope you still enjoy the bike!!!
thank you.... can you roll this bike when folded?? thank you and do you still have and use this bike??
Great review!

Is this bike slow? Will it move as fast as a regular multi-speed bike?
Yo dude... I'am considering Schneider after i get my CDL here in Georgia and wanted to know if u have any advice ??
Thanks for the video, I think I will purchase one of these bikes.
Just purchased the miami! I'm so excited! I did not purchase the carrying bag and I'm looking for a cheap folding bike bag alternative. Any suggestions?
great review loved his sense of humor has he assemble it.:-)
Nice bike, looks like a great commuting tool for public transit. Are the stock tires good or would you suggest upgrading them right away?
Any experience checking it with delta? Any surprises?

ride safe dude
I'm not a huge hard core bike fanatic. I use it when I can, where I can. The tires held up and do the job just fine for me.
Have you had to change any flats yet? I'm having a hard time removing my rear wheel...
Looks like a great option for getting to the store while driving but don't try to go trail riding with it : ) Anyway, how much did it cost if you don't mind me asking?

How long did it take for you to receive your bike?

Still good, no issues.

is the saddle confortable?? i see that the saddle has been upgraded wanted to know is it better then the original
devilrocksass Actually the saddle you see is what came with the bike.
Is it comfortable ?
devilrocksass its alright. Its not a spring gel seat comfortable....but its okay for short distances. Long distances will be an issue but I use to an avid mt bike rider and its all about your muscles getting use to seat for long periods of time.

Quality is good. The locks can be adjusted so if they do become loose, you can readjust it. The bike still rides the same as the first day I got it.
Great video
Can you please tell me what child seat I can use on the back rack?
I'm not sure if they make adapters or mounts for these bikes for a childs seat.
can you put thinner tires on them?
If they make them thinner.

moonman_v had mines for about two years now. Great little bike.

The fenders helped ALOT when riding in the wet!
I love the video. You seem like a real cool guy! I am seriously thinking about making this investment. I want to lose this 80 pds I gained from eating with my gf. I am going to lose this and considering doing a 10k cycling challenge. Good luck with your bike!!
Did bike help? I need to loose weight as well, wondering if that way works for you
nice video. do you still like the bike??
thanks and yes I do.
how tall are you? It seems a bit too small :( How far the seat goes up? I am 6'2" and I am wondering if it would be too small ... my apartment is too small and the normal size bike takes too much space.
As long as your under 230 lbs, your good! The seat and handle bars are adjustable. I'm 5'11 so you should be good!
Just got my Tokyo in the mail today. Impressively easy to fold up and put in my car. How's your Miami holding up after three years?
Fairly well, havn't got to ride it much but the tires still hold air, inner tubes are still good, and when I need it, it works. Had to adjust the shift cables alittle but tuning it up is inevitable as time goes on.
ricecakeFTW Thanks. My tokyo came in a few days ago and I'm absolutely loving it.
Thanks for sharing the video
Just saw your video and now i cant decide on this vs dahon speed one.
Paco Perea Dahon is for actual commuting longer distances and if you need to keep up with traffic in a city....plus higher quality bits, brakes/ shifter. The Citizen is basic folding bike just to travel short distances. It does the job for me.
ricecakeFTW actually im foward to travel from 10 to 13 miles of highway, passing thru a mile of dirt road and some streets. What do you think?
This is great for general aviation. Where space and weight restrictions really limit what you can take with you in smaller aircraft. This will pay for itself with money saved by not renting cars around the airport.
Why yr camera shaking ?
had a bike with a derailleur like that..shifts very rough
Great solution for riding while away from home. Those fenders are a thoughtful addition for wet roads. Wear a helmet ;-)
$230 shipped. Its going great! :) ALways have people asking about it....
I am going to get one of them bicycle...
Thank you good vid.
Nice !!!!
i want it!!!

Sorry, I'm in California, asking for a guy name shen for a job in NY around here would put me in a holding cell for a 51/50

not sure, a large cheap duffle bag? lol
Ug I weigh 230 x_x

Rebecca Baeza Villegas And you still watched blair witch and this video. Such a fool to keep watching either lol
I thought a psycho killer was going to jump out of the corner and attack you--then you'd escape on the bike. That would've been cool.
Sorry man, but get a tripod. Nobod should need Dramamine to watch a video.
