Brilliant!! nothing is better than a live big band!!!! so exciting!!! I loved this. My mother loved James Last and thats how I came to appreciate his love and talents for all music. Truly a wonderful man able to share the gifts God gave him with every one else. A joyful and generous soul!!!God bless him.

I fallowed James Last in almost all of his Poulidor Record 🏷 with his now historical musical talents, including his legendary ability to appeal to the Classical music devotees and contemporary modernist progressives styles that appealed to younger and holders generation.

Sadly James is not around anymore, nor Derek Watkins , a great instrumentalist , I saw James at the Royal Albert Hall in march 2015 , a sad frail man who passed away within 7-8 weeks , a massive loss to all peoples world wide ,R I P, hanse , you live on in our hearts.
Nor Benny Bendorff and Karl Hermann Luer and Konrad Bogdan (the original Bass Trombonist) or Georges Delegaye (one of original Tenor Tombonists) nor of course Heinz Habermann (original Trumpeter)

El estilo de música de las orquestas contemporáneas ya no tiene tantos seguidores como por ejemplo en la década de los 60 y 70. Existían muchas discográficas dedicadas a divulgar este estilo musical. Ahora no sería factible económicamente poder mantener tanto músico...¿Cuántos discos tendrían que vender y cuántas giras y actuaciones deberían de realizar para que fueran rentables?

Danke vielmals Joseph für Konzert aus Ost berlin und früher Sing Mit a la last. Mein internet verbindung war kaput, aber nun bin ich Wieder hier.
Ich bin froh, dass Sie die Verbindung mit der Außenwelt erholt haben. Sammeln von Videos habe ich "Sing Mit" Konzert... "Ost-Berliner" war nicht in der Plattform "TH-cam" in einer russischen Plattform gefunden werden. Abgesehen davon kann es per DVD gefunden werden. Ich beschloss, es ausdrückte, das Bild und den Ton zu verbessern. Ich meine, dass es möglich ist, dass Sie Videos hochladen können, die gesehen werden; aber ich werde versuchen, das Bild, sowohl in der Schärfe mit Vollbild und Ton zu verbessern. Saw James live twice in the South West firstly in Par then in Plymouth Pavilions neither venues where large enough but the Pavilions was worst acoustically

Me alegro que te haya gustado. Pienso que los mejores conciertos los realizó en los años 60 y 70; aunque este concierto de 1987...es un gran concierto con grandes arreglos y temas...Algunos de los cuales nunca los llegó a plasmar en ningún álbum en estudio. Saludos.
Bueno, en los últimos años tenía conciertos muy Buenos. Creo que tenía músicos en los años 2000 tan Buenos como los de los setenta, algunos tocaron muchos años.

Lamentablemente, ya no está entre nosotros. En 1970 sé que estuvo en Brazil...Estancia que le sirvió de inspiración para su álbum de 1970: "With compliments". Por ejemplo, en Italia estuvo promocionando su orquesta en 1974. En España estuvo actuando en 1974 y en 1992 para grabar un video promocional. Normalmente, siempre actuaba en Inglaterra, holanda y en su país natal...alguna gira en los países nordicos y alguna presencia destacada en norteamérica para grabar álbumes tan destacados como: "Well Kept Secret" (enero´75) y "Seduction" (1980). "Vibrations"...an excellent track from one of James Last's best albums: "Seduction". Unfortunately, this album didn´t have much impact in Europe. "Seduction" and the 1975 album "Well Kept Secret" were a before and after in the musical career of James Last.

Very little can be added from a person, ... a life dedicated to music: Composer, arranger and orchestra conductor and one of the pioneers of a musical style, "Easy Listening", which made orchestral music, identified by many People like "Classical Music" to a closer, popular and rhythmic style that made the 60s and especially the 70s ... the commercial "boom" of contemporary orchestral music. I'm glad you enjoyed it and enjoyed a great instrumental and choral concert by James Last. Best regards.

I notice there are 4 Trombones in the line-up, whereas there was normally three in his orchestra. I have a photo which I took myself at the Royal Albert Hall some time in the 1980's when in addition to 4 trombones including 2 bass trombones during the British tour, there were also six trumpets. I will always remember this as it was truly a big sound. One of the extra trombonists was Richard 'slide' Hyde. I think they were marketing a particular LP release, although I cannot think for the life of me what it was now. This was the heyday of the Last band in my view, before decided to go in for more of an electronic sound, which was a big mistake in my view. I wish Last had had a bigger saxophone section and made more of the instrument. Instead later on he reduced the saxophone section to one, which was another mistake. In the video I was Stan Sulzmann, a great British born saxophonist who was a regular in the James Last Orchestra for several years. Recently he was interviewed on Clare Teal show on BBC Radio 2 on Sunday. He was the best musician she has interviewed in a long time and was genuinely interesting.

Two of those mistakes you have described perfectly ... I have never been able to understand why he decided to have a single saxophonist / flute player from 1990. It is obvious that he would have his reasons; but, I think it was not a good idea to see what happened next ..."
