@@VictorHernandez-nt3tw Can't speak to SolidCam, but my experience with Mastercam mill/turn was awful. Esprit was a massive improvement for all our mill/turn and lathe programming.
@vgl217 I wish there was 1 software that beats all but it seems this way. Mastecam great for mills, esprit is mill/turn, wire edm and Swiss specialty and I heard hypercam great for 5 axis but I haven't tried yet!
Nice Job Donnie, clear explanation. The software has really evolved, now you have a 2 spindle machine, but on the 6 spindle machine with more turrets and tools everywhere, it's a bit more tricky 😅 Please make a video with your multi-spindle machine, thanks.
SolidCAM’s channel sync has been field proven to 6 channels without issue. Theoretically there’s no upper limit to the number of simultaneous channels it can handle. As for programming it’s just a matter of adding additional MAC’s and additional sub-spindles to the VMID.

I use Esprit to program our swiss. I need to look and see if it has a "dual machine simulation" feature like that, because it's a bit annoying zooming between spindles to watch what's going on. Other than that, solidcam looks just as good as Esprit. Cool.
I can't immagine what cutting edge technologies are quietly being developed these days. I had the lucky opportunity to work at am engineering company that rebuilt jet engines and steam turbine/nuclear parts. They developed processes like laser heat pool welding (precursor to modern 3d printers) They also put titanium particles in a putty and Pplied then to parts that needed to be built back up and baked them together in a big pressurize kiln. That was over 20 years ago 😳

Looks Great....but 1 remark : those GLOWING Titanium chips can cause a chain reaction with other thin ti chips.......... experienced that 1 time in my shop with a small amount of chips cause the tool got dull ..... and it was scary.....
Donnie i have a question. How should I do finish passes in my swiss without chatter? I have a 17-4 part with a RA 8 finish requirement. It's a 2.5 inch long part, so I'm not sure how to do this. Thank you
Well that’s a 6 beer conversation right there 😂. How big is the depth of cut? What type of Swiss machine? Can you pinch turn? 🤷♂️. Once you go below 10 this starts to get difficult. My best results on 13-8 were with a SUPER sharp insert and a delicate light depth of cut at a speed and feed so slow it would make your eyes water. That was on 53rc 13-8
@@michaelpawluk6791 sounds like you are right there. Try a sharper insert and even slower. I’ve also seen the pressure from a .031” radius insert create a good finish. It really sounds like you are right there but playing around with the radii of your insert could get you there
Maybe they i was just cheap, or maybe this is a newer technology than I got to run with... but how much weight are you really saving with that hollow base? Especially in Titanium??
Mix a bunch of different powders together in a liquid until it's really well mixed, boil off the liquid, press the mixed powder into shape, then heat it up. The "glue" part of the powder melts and makes the "hard" part of the powder stick together. After that, add coating.

Incorrect. Yes, it's good to be able to write from hand, but only to make yourself more familiar with the code. So you can do quick edits or fix bits that didn't post correctly (I always skim through every program after I post just to make sure nothing went wrong...) I'd argue every programmer that can use this software at a high level already knows their g code by heart. You can't say the same about an old timer that likely can't even open their email without help, and refuses to learn how.
sir, i understand that programing is easy, but you have to be aware that alot of shops cannot afford to have all their machine environment in the CAM software, having every machine in your software is either incredibly expensive or difficult to create
That depends. If they’re all the same make and model machine it’s just one post and one VMID. Even if it’s a large variety of machines it’s still cheaper in the long run to have them all in CAM. The money saved in time alone will make the ROI in less than a year

@@donniehinske I cannot pinch turn, it's a single slide DMG Sprint 32/8. DOC is about .030" per side in 17-4 pH. My max spindle speed is 8,000

Possibly if they w÷re going to make a million of them, then the scrap from that drilled hole would help reduce the cost per part
