    I've watched the whole 3 seasons a few times. And for my money, this is still one of the best-acted scenes. And one of the best-written dialogues.
    Well, at least as far as personal relationships between main characters.
    His face, when she's describing to him exactly what he's been doing and why.
    His face when she says "because you've never asked me out" is ab-so-lute-ly perfect. Not over-the-top, not too subtle. This is one of the best jaw-dropping I've seen.
    And the subtext, the way she says it, the different levels of meaning.
    Oh, these people are such great actors, in these roles.
    And Sorkin? Genius writer. Simply genius.

      I could not disagree more. Sorkin absolutely sucks at writing romance. I found this cringe-worthy, and I have seen better writing from a 9th grader.
      Now when it comes to writing about government, the military, journalism, etc. Sorkin is incredible.

    • @Memog78
      @Memog78 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@larrysmith2638 I'll disagree with this disagreement while also not agreeing to the original comment. Yeah it may not be his forte to write romance, but the various levels of stuff going on and the way he boiled down the very complicated feelings going on with the characters is pretty cool.

      @@Memog78 Fair enough. I just think most of his romantic couplings are, psychologically, at a middle school level.

      @@larrysmith2638I’m not gonna disagree with that. I’ve never particularly liked the way Sorkin wrote women’s parts (100% no pun intended). They often seem somewhat caricatural.
      Somehow, this particular scene though, for me it works perfectly, just perfectly.
      But hey, it’s fine, we all have our ways of looking at things, and some scenes will touch you more than me and vice versa.

      @@yousufhasan3933, she isn’t, much. She’s had seven boyfriends in the last fourteen years, and the total time between them comes to just over two years. The biggest gap was between the latest two, when she split amicably w/Tucker Roberts, president of the Philadelphia Fusion, in late ‘19. Six months later, the world went into lockdown. News of her latest relationship with John Mulaney, comedian, broke about a month ago. His divorce from his wife of six years was announced only days before.

    This dialogue really hit the mark when I first saw it. In the grand scheme of things, words don't mean jack squat, but every now and then, one person's words will linger. An ex broke up with me and called me a bad person to whoever would listen and that hit me so hard internally. I never mentioned it to anyone or complained about it, but I just... believed it. Since that moment, I have been trying to just be a good guy and make decisions based on what a good guy would do. Numerous relationships have started and failed because I just tried to do the right thing and be the right guy. I don't know if it's something I can ever recover from. Maybe I'm just stuck here forever. Anyways, I'm glad no one will see this because it's an obscure clip and I'm still rambling.

    • @Bacbi
      @Bacbi 9 ปีที่แล้ว +35

      well her character has probably the biggest IQ in the work place mixed with a very healthy amount of EQ which is why she doesn't snort money like Jordan Belfort in Wolf of WallStreet. But instead for some reason wants to educate people and teach others about what she has learned over the years so that their not forced to pick berry's for 1 dollar an hour, when she literally could make more money by screwing people over legally and making more many then her grandchildren would know what to do with. Sure she is a little socially awkward but otherwise pretty very healthy amount of EQ.
      And it is true, many men find intelligence intimidating 1. Because it makes them feel inferior or 2. They don't feel like their worthy. Personally I'm a mixture of 2 and being an asshole where I loath people with less then average intelligence while also realizing being with someone would hold them back.
      I could probably go on with a couple of more paragraphs and actually talk about Olivia Munn herself but I think I've already written enough to anger at least 30% of the internet, and if I keep giving you more rope the noose around my neck will be to long to hang me.

    She turned down 4 million a year. I wouldn't no matter what. That kind of money if you work there for 10 years you will be sitting on 40 million dollars. At her age what 25-30 if she worked there for 20 that would be 80 million. If she worked there until her retirement at what 65 that is at least 35 years 140 million. That kind of financial security is worth it. I would take that any day.
