I use these , believe it or not and the reason is that I don't like to boil my potatoes, I like to bake them. don't laugh now, I put a little bit of dawn on the gloves , that's right Dawn and run it under a little bit of hotish water and then scrub all the dirt and grime off the potatoes which still leaves the peel but leaves me with a clean potato to bake! Try it in that vein and you maybe more welcoming to the idea of what they can do, oppose what they were made to do. Semper Fi, Robbie

That's what I was thinking! Then I realized you could do a batter similar to onion strips/blooming onion. Basically a liquidy batter. Then flash fry it. I'd try it both ways myself. That could make a wonderful appetizer. Could you imagine just a huge plate of it. Surrounded with various dips and little plates to put yours in. Actually it probably wouldn't hit the plate with me around.

James we have that apple peeler and your potatoes were falling off because you didn’t have them pushed on the spikes all the way 😂 also they missed spots because the tension on the blade needs to be adjusted for potatoes (light tension for apples, high for potatoes.) Potatoes are tough-skinned.
That electric one performed faaaar better though!

I have been looking for for a peeler to assist in my keto diet, and a substitute for potatoes is jicama. I have a few questions does the electronic peeler fit jicama and does it actually peel it?

Hey James! I actually have the tater mitts. You wanna boil the potatoes for a few minutes to loosen the skin up and the use the mitts to peel them. The mitts are thick enough so you won’t burn your hands. I truly only use them for when I’m making any meals that require boiling them first. Hope this helps!

The tater mitts would likely work for fresh spring/summer potatoes. As they have super thin skin and just need some of the outermost layer removed along with the dirt

Just a heads up, the Spiralizer (hand turning peeler) has a set screw to move the blade in closer and make it easier, sadly, no, flat potatoes dont work well on it, however we prefer it over our electric peeler because of the spiraling effect, allows you to cook it faster.

We have one of those manual rotating peelers at home and you have to turn the spring tension up for potatoes. Kind of a pain!

I use the Rotato electric one to peel almost EVERYTHING, and if u keep peeling over the same part, you get noodles! How i make zucchini noodles. on Amazon, i paid 12$ for it! Worth it!

Right. The selling point is the soft grip. And you really notice how good it is when you peel a lot of potatoes.

I have an 'aversion' to peeling potatoes...ugh...So, I bought a Rotato as you suggested...exact one...and it is wonderful. It can peel a potato faster than I can cut one in pieces to be boiled for mashing. Thank you!

Back in about 1983, we had a Rotato. But back then it was called a Dazey Stripper. I LOVED it as a kid. I would keep using it until the potato was just a stub and use it to make hashbrowns. I just bought a Rotato because of you, btw. Thank you :)

Spirallizer, you need to tighten all the nuts and bolts when you get it home but I use it for my apples and this is the best way to eat apples now.
I know it’s for canning fruit but I enjoy it so much for peel the apples just wonderful. My kid loves eating apples now we have this. Great for lunch’s and a snack on the way to work. So many different options quick and easy to eat apple. A min of work for a great snack. All right I’m done I can’t say enough how much I enjoyed this product!!!

That apple peeler works quite well on, well, apples. When I used to volunteer in the kindergarten near home, the kids are encouraged to bring an apple to snack on, and they all got super excited when it was snack time and one of the teachers brought out the apple peeler from the staff room. After peeling, coring and slicing, the apple would resemble a slinky and the children would have great fun playing and eating them. I must admit that I also brought my own apples just so I could have my own slinky, and for some reason it did taste nicer that way :)

I have the rotato and I love it as it’s great for disabled people and arthritic people as sometimes you’re not able to properly hold the potato and peel it manually

The tater mitts look like the safety gloves you can use to grab fish when fishing to avoid nasty fin cuts- they don’t take scales off, I couldn’t imagine trying to take potato skin off!

We use our Apple Peeler corer for making curly Fries! You need the older ones that clamp onto the edge of the counter.

I like the "Y" style peelers. Actually in culinary school after our initial knife roll kit the instructors said "the best peeler is a cheap dollar store peeler, don't waste your money on a fancy peeler".. Seema accurate to me.

All the nutrition of a potato is in the skin. So you're throwing away what is good for you about potatoes. 😂 The mitts and the spiralyzer are a riot! A sucker is born every minute.

I can say those gloves you can use for loosening oil filters when you change your oil. Your number one choice is pretty cool. There are recipes for potato skins for when you peel them.

I've been thru 3 spiralizers. They all stopped sticking to the counter and the last one did what yrs did but I bought it at Target for $7. I still use it when making apple pie to cut and core the apple. Have to hold it down with one hand, 2nd hand at times to hold the cutter and my third hand to turn the handle. Jeese, we all need 3 arms. 😆

it may have already been said, but the gloves are for peeling "New Potatoes" Here in denmark we have such things and the peels are very easy to remove they are never really removed, but they are almost no existent with a good rub... people use brushes for the same effect

3:02 I have that one though I didn’t pay any where near that price, dam you got ripped off I payed like £4 for mine, but I actually find I use it mostly when we haven’t refilled the grated cheese and I need some to mix into stuff of for beans& cheese on toast.
It also works super well on frozen chocolate for garnishing stuff.
Side note it also works really well on fingernails and skin so be careful, I actually tested it on wood and it went through it just like the potato.
