I am a Marine and Navy veteran. I spent 14 years proudly serving my country. I use my cut to display my pride in said service. To the knowing person (other veterans,) it gives them a brief idea into my service and often serves as a conversation starter with other veterans. In the veteran community this is huge because sometimes a random conversation turns into lifelong friendship and/or some type of worthwhile opportunity.
This really is the holy grail of MC culture. Thanks for putting in the work to bring us the reality of the culture. Keep the rubber down. Great show man.
I am an OG and have been wearing the same style for over 40 years. Jeans, Tee-Shirt, and leather cut with my MC's rockers and colors. This is my culture and, this is what I identify with and have for a long time, it is not only a sort of a style, it is a way of life, my life, it is who I am.
I wear a cut because it keeps my T-shirt or whatever I’m wearing under my cut together and not blowing around. I don’t have any patches or pretend to be something I’m not, just a clean look.
One of few men I call brother grew up in a 1% family. I wasn’t going to buy a cut, but the day after I bought a Harley, he showed up with it. Now I wear my blank cut because I like the look, and it was a gift. I don’t pretend to be anything I’m not.
As a non club member I wear mine because, my keys, wallet, glass, 9, my joint pack, lighter, even my ass when I forget it. Got have pockets. One day I'll find a club that fits my vibe. But for now I got a lot of shit and need pockets. Thats just my point of view. #Ghostin like always.
I put on my cut because I was told I earned it from my grandfather. For me it's a part of who I am, and who I always was even as a child. When I was 15 my grandfather gave me his leather jacket when he taught me to ride on a 83 sportster. And to this day i still have my grandfather's leather. He made it and wore it after he came back from WWII. Its been a part of me and my life. In high school I wore my grandfather's leather every day. and continueed wearing it when riding. All the way up till I was in my 30s. In which I out grew it. For me its a family heirloom. That I will pass on to my children if the ever start riding. I know no other way to be. I feel naked. And incomplete with my cut. Even though I'm an independent.
My cut is my life, it represents me, doesn't have any meaning towards a club...was born and bred in South Dakota. Lived in Rapid City SD for 16 years until I joined the military...still have family there...seen a lot
Not gonna lie. I wear one first because I like the look second it adds a little more protection. Been on 2’s since the late 70’s been wearing a cut since early 80’s.
I was wearing a denim jacket with the sleeves cut off before SOA was a show. I wear it for the pockets, to keep my shirt from flying all around, and to cover my waist band items. I have a reflective American flag patch on the back, and a bunch of little patches that I like. My friend owns a tattoo shop and he added a bunch of drawings as well. I don't think it looks like a club vest.
I have wore a leather vest while riding all my life. My old man made me wear one (not black) while riding dirt bikes. His thing was for me to protect my head with a helmet and protect my core body with a vest or jacket depending on outside temperature. I still ride with a vest/cut during the summer time and a jacket during spring, fall, and winter. It's definitely not trying to fit into any style.
Started wearing a vest or cut, when I was young. Was a metalhead kinda thing. More influenced my motorhead than SOA. But it all took on a new meaning after joining a club. It's not just a look or an expression of interests to me anymore, but like a wedding ring. A binding symbol of the relationship I have with my brothers. Never put on a cut with anything on it other than my colors since.
When I was a minor, we did shit like that by neighborhood. There was an upper/middle class "village" near us. We were a poor azz neighborhood. There was a story in the paper where they said "we want to block off our village so the undesirables from Madison Place will stop coming through here". So, of course we all cut sleeves off jean jackets, gas station shirts, anything. On top we wrote "UNDESIRABLE", then right below it was just a drawing of a hump, like a grave, with a cross on top. On either side of the cross was an M & a P. It lasted 2 generations.
@@johnbruner8440 That's pretty cool dude! U remember that some of the best friends ever were buddies that rocked colors with you. Even as a kid, friends had a sense of loyalty back in the day...Today I'm not so sure! But that's a cool story bro!
#Ghostin #GboroNC I was born in Chitown and I loved that movie as a kid we and some of us cut sleeves off our denim and like to protect our block. I will always love and remember that movie. RIF's!!! Warriors!!!and the baseball club was cool. Now I have a Jacket for when it starts getting cool that is denim with leather sleeves. To hot to wear in summer trying to think what I might wear this summer when I get my new ride I feel it is time since my wreck to get back on 2's I am going with a Fatboy I think this time. Stay #Ghostin brother and may stay blessed brother! Watch Ya Six! And keep ya head on a swivel!
I have a denim jacket because it's my style. I don't do patches or anything though. I think you're spot on with the trend setter idea. They definitely have a life of there own.
Hi, love your show my friend. I'm in a MC in Taiwan. I'm the only foreigner that's ever been excepted in this MC. I don't have my cuts yet but Next Monday I will finally get my cut. I have much respect for what you do and the education that you teach for most %99 percenters. Great channel and keep up the great work.
been wearing a cut I was 16,I'm 66 now ride an 80 shovelhead been asked to prospect a few times but I would never join a club that would have me for a member my cut has a harley emblem where the bottom rocker would go nothing else never been hassled about it .the patch is the last thing my mother sewed before she passed in 02
Honestly when i got my first bike this year i had no real idea about the vests. From the get go i had a denim that had all my patches from my favorite punk rock bands. Most were hand me downs from past friends who have passed away.
I use to wear a vest with no cuts, but after years of riding and spreading this way of life/two wheels culture to all of my friends, acting like a preacher, i gathered them around me. Step by step i learned all the things about MC rules and start teaching my friends about it. About 2 years ago i decided to make a logo that was approved by all of my friends and they all voted me as the President of the club...so we started a club. We made our own rules and i gave ranks to those with specific skills. We don't consider that we have to ask permission for this to the rest of the clubs. Me and my friends are ex special forces and we can deal any situation that might come up with the other clubs... We don't look for trouble...we don't mess in others business...but if they'll push us, well...it'll be their funerary...because you don't fuck with us. So now i wear a cut made by me and i run a club started by me and my friends...
I hear you Billy bad ass. How you gonna fight a whole chapter if someone who matters finds your attitude disrespectful? Answer: You get beat down like anyone else. I know you're not SF too because SF guys don't go around talking about how bad ass they are. Beta boy.
@@leggoego I appreciate you are worrying about me/us but no need, really, this Billy beta boy or whatever you called me, can handle it...take care of your ass and I ll take care of mine...
Was given a denim cut from a Gypsy friend. It was given to me just before he passed...RIP Hombre. No club affiliation, just HD Motorcycles on the cut. I have never had a problem with the club but again, he was retired and the local chapter knew me. I would be careful without club permission if it's a club cut though. Blessed be HD. Thanks for all your info Sose. You are a great part of my day!!!❤
I wear my vest because It's always been my style, however, now it has changed now that I'm a member of a club it signifies to me, my journey and how far I've come on my path.
Arlen Ness. When he was alive. He had a motorcycle club he started. It was a bike building club. They were called The Hampsters. But they wore yellow T shirts with the clubs name and insignia printed on the back. But I don't know if they are still around.
I wanted a denim vest for style for a long while but never found anything I could recycle or liked in general for a price I liked. When I finally got my bike license started I found Saint CC's Mandarin collar vest. It's awesome, it's got 2 chest pockets, hand pockets. Everything came together. Another part of it was finding my dad's denim vest and knowing he had one is cool
Great video and history. I'm not affiliated but socialize with several clubs in the area. In the winter, I wear a leather jacket and in the summer I wear a vest. My jacket is clean but my vest has some military patches that only guys from the community that I was in would recognize. To me, my vest offers a little protection, isn't too hot, keeps my shirt from blowing around, and aids in concealed carry.
I'm a metalhead wearing cuts since the eighties when I was fifteen years old. Some of my friends who were much older formed a motorcycle club and they often took me for a ride on the back on one of their bikes. I was still young and I loved how they put so much effort in making their vests. They still embroidered their own back patches back then. I was a troubled kid with asperger syndrome and I was often on my own...I'm greatful they took me in as a friend back in those early days. It gave me back a lot of my self respect. They were the first people who really accepted me for who I am. And allthough I personally never owned a motorcycle and never really joined a club, wearing a cut or a vest has since these days always been a part of my identity as a metalhead. L&R from the Netherlands.
I hung out with mc’s for yrs. i dont watch tv much. I saw the soa show in 2020. Ive been on two’s for yrs b4 i watched it. I joined a club for brotherhood. N left cuz they weren’t about that. So on that note... i like learning so keep up the good work brother
Why ? Never thought about it till this video . WOW! When l was a kid and MC moved in on our block hell we were riding. bicycles.they had a band in the. yard and they invited us to come over so the next day we got denim jackets and cut off the sleeves when l got my first street bike crashed l know you won't believe this but that damn jacket saved my back from a hell of a lot road rash so 40yrs later. I keep. Wearing mine as a good luck piece . grandpa Goldwing great show
I left my club back in 2013 but you what I discovered by wearing vests/cuts? Storage. That simple. I don't ride with no kind of bags. But a vest can carry a lot of shit.
Ever since I was a kid I wanted to be a cowboy when I grew up. My parents said that wasn’t a job but more of a way of life. I feel like riding motorcycles is a way of life. Club or not. When you ride you feel free. Like the cowboys. Riding my Harley is all I want to do. I wear a classic side lace vest with an American flag over my heart, a 2nd amendment patch and a patch to support our troops for all they have done for us all. That’s why I wear a vest. I’m not a weekend rider. I ride every day.
@@craven9388 Amen Brother I am the same. Our Patches are mostly the same as well. I have no fringe but I do have Silver Conchos. Glad to see that I am not the only Cowboy riding a Steel Horse.
I was born and raised in the Bronx. Always loved the cowboy lifestyle. Worked with and rode horses from when I was about 16, became a professional rodeo Cowboy. Loved riding my horse for hours up and down the side of the Hutchinson River Parkway, Pelham Parkway. Loved the feeling of freedom riding, imagining I was riding the range out west which eventually I got to do here and there as I got older and my rodeo days progressed. Eventually hard riding took a toll on my back, but I still like the freedom of riding. I just turned 65 last week, but I had to switch to a Can am F3S Spyder. Got to be a little difficult holding up 2 wheels. My nic-name has been Cowboy for about 40 years. “The trails in life, they take a lot of turns. They go up hill and down, sometimes they get rocky, but the more you ride, the more you learn” yeah I wear a vest too. I have a big cow skull patch, a 2nd amendment, a flag over my heart, a proud dad USAF patch and a few patches from some rallies.
@@gregorymonacelli2257 First of all Congratulations on your Rodeo riding that is a tuff sport. I was a field Ironworker for over 40 years. I know exactly what you mean about your back. I worked in Brooklyn for 6 months at Red Hook Dock then off to N J Elizabeth and Newark docks for another 4 months. I did enjoy Brooklyn. Who ever said getting old was the Golden Years never got their. You are the second man that told me about his Cowboy Vest. I love mine. It’s Cowboy and patriotic as well. Take Care. Billy D.
I wear my kutte to keep the wind off my chest but I also have patches that mean something to me on there as well like my two R.I.P patches for my Mom and Nana plus I have a “Fuck Cancer” rib rocker. Rock a clover for luck and cause I’m part Irish. One day I’ll find a club that I feel comfortable with to potentially join but right now I’m just going to meets, bike shows and hanging with the community. Be easy, Sose! 🤘🏻
Happy Independence Day Sose. Growing up on the family farm and ranch properties I began wearing vests for utility. Leather for horseback and working, wool for winter warmth and brown or tan leather for riding my motorcycles. Today I have a dedicated tan leather vest (not a cut) with POW-MIA & KIA-WIA patches as well as Remembrance for lost Brothers and Sisters. I wear mine when I ride so many know whom I ride for and why I won't let them be forgotten. Keep up the great work! You are in my prayers Hoka Hey
Hey Man your show is off the hook Been listening for awhile.Ive been riding now for a few years I do love and think highly of the biker lifestyle I do not belong to a club but I do Rock a vest when riding it gives me that sense of hell yeah.
I wear a denim cut that my father wore. I'm named after him and his soul is within me. He's my hero and to be half the man, father and biker that he is and was is unattainable but I'll never stop trying.
#ghostin Folks seem to forget the reason the sleeves came off. The AMA used to present clubs with awards for attendance at sanctioned events and safety. These awards came in the form of patches that went on your sleeves. After Holister, the clubs that left the AMA cut off their sleeves to shed their AMA awards. Most also removed their AMA patch from their. One club that I am aware of still wears an AMA patch but now it is placed upside-down in defiance.
I'm damn near 50, been around bikes all of my life. I dress for the slide, not for the pride. I was always taught that leathers, and jeans will save you in a bad situation. I grew up with my father & grandfather riding motor cycles, and hanging out with bikers of all calibers. I'm not in any MC or club of any kind, maybe if I had gotten my bike in my 20's and not my 30's things would be different. I wear leather jacket up until its too hot to, then I wear my cut. Primarily for safety, and for storage of my wallet, phone, etc. I ride with MC's and hang with anyone. I do not pretend to be anyone I'm not. As much as I like to ride and hang with fellow bikers, the MC life not for me, I'm just too old now to hang with them!
Sose my brother you are always deep in the mix & forcing the issue on deeper thought & observation !!! this can only bring out better things with in the culture & relationships for our future !!! I hope your following continues to grow !!!
I was always taught that a cut is only worn by a full patch member of any club . So a prospect wears a prospect vest. A civilian wearing a black or denim vest, Is just that a vest..? #Ghostin
@@SoseTheGhost I see where your coming from that makes sense. The lack of sleeves makes it a cut off, For cut for short. The club I was once associated with you are only allowed to call a full patch vest a cut. I had no idea it was viewed so differently. I wonder if that's a coastal, regional type thing.
#Ghostin,Hey Sose hope you are well sitting on two's. Very cool info, back in the early 70's when I was a young teenager hanging around bikers and hippies the black leather jacket and Jean cut was a very cool look and you stood out from the rest and it has stuck with me ever since got to love it. Stay safe ride safe much love and respect, peace out from BC Canada.
Jean vest have been invented since 1880. They were designed for the working class, such as railroad, miners and Cowboys. Way before any biker donned a vest.
Old but great video, just wanted to chime in with I think the upcoming movie Bikeriders is going to bring back that vintage style from the golden age again and honestly I can't wait
#GHOSTIN- nada but love SoSe , I cannot not will I speak for others but, for me, whenever I find a pin or patch that I want to keep special to me it goes on my vest. And yes I call it a vest because it’s not a cut. When it’s a club it’s a cut.
@@SoseTheGhost I only say that because an old friend that rode with a 1% Club told me @ the CH if you say cut and you’re not in the club you will get laughed at. It is what it is though. Keep doin your thing brother look for your shows all the time.
I wear mine because it was a gift from a member of a club who looked at me as a little brother when I got my first bike, told me I needed a good helmet and a nice cut, he gave me his old cut that he retired after he put his patches on his new cut. (You can still see the outlines from the patches on the one he gave me 😅)
When The Rock Machine started in Canada, they just wore rings in order to be less visible. I think they are back to that in Australia because of the laws over there.
Personally. I wear a leather vest over my leather jacket as added safety in case I go down. That extra protection from the road makes a big difference if you go down at high speed, and wind up sliding down the pavement #ghostin #rideyourshit
@@eadiesel326 just hit the website. Rideyourshit.com you can order them there. Hope to see you at the next Aidans run. Let's hope I don't go down this time. Lol
#ghostin I started wearing my cut after I was made an associate of the bike club my ex father in law was a part of. After a couple years when I was riding better, I was made prospect, then full patch. Thank you for the history lesson on our culture, I learned some very valuable information off this video. Keep doing what you do!
I wear mine for extra protection, it is denim and has Kevlar sewn into the fabric. I am going to add back armor to it. I think it looks great. My wife also likes it and how it looks on me.
#Ghostin I have a leather cut at home and I don’t ride a motorcycle. Which I’m still in the process of learning how to, but I do wear my to show my support for the love of MC culture 🙏🏾💯🙏🏾
I have both the denim and leather but depending on the weather might just bring the Neon Orange or Green to direct traffic or help park bikes for a host chapter / group if visiting another HOG or ABATE Chapter
My vest is my first line of protection before my jacket when I get the black stuff, I do wear rally patches and Irish patches, I was gifted my 13 (no diamond) and my skulls. Outsiders 4life. Ride hard!
I saw someone riding today with a backpack design that looked, from far enough away, like a black and white three piece patch. Plain, solid colors are always safest. Even then, be careful what colors you choose.
I believe your analysis is 100% correct. It’s all about trends. Me myself saw The Warriors wayyyyy back and wanted to wear a cut. I was in to hiphop culture and started with graffiti 1984. The same year I made my own “Warriors” typa cut with my artist name on it. So it was nothing new for me when me and some friends started our MCC. We don’t claim city or territory but we sure checked with the local association that it was okay. The cut is a manifest of our unity. Essential.
Im not a part of a club or anything but i do have a hlvest since here in NC it can get a bit hot. So i wear it when it is to hot for a jacket wince it also has a spine protector in it.
I grew up around alot of different types of bikers,i am 51 and i got a vest when I was 13 from my uncle as a hand me down and been wearing a slick back ever since.
I have some club member friends that I occasionally ride with. But, I don't have one drop of club blood in me. I ride everyday, no matter the weather. I wear a leather vest to hold down my shirt from flopping, my collar from flapping against my neck, concealed carry gun, etc. I don't know if a better option for those things
Always rocked a denim jacket with band patches and slogan patches always had sleeves till I had an incident with an angle grinder while chopping my bike. it then became sleeveless saved my arms but not the jacket so now it's a vest.
I wear a denim cut off vest just to prevent my back from getting shredded if my bike were to go down, I may throw my blue denim vest over my black denim jacket in summer or black leathers in winter, and over my yellow leather welding jacket when heading to work
For me, its somewhere to attach patches without ruining the watertightness of my main jacket, also I can wear the vest with my jacket, or an armoured shirt in the summer etc. The double layer of leather really helps keep out the wind in the winter. On the vest I have Odins Hammer on the back, but no top or bottom rocker, on the front are patches from rides and events Ive been to, patches to display pride in my kids etc. Really means to me that you could spot me in a crowd of leathers 8)
Just got back from a short run into the desert nite, parked my girl in the garage and put on Demonsrow. You know in my old neighborhood everyone wore either or without a patch but most who did were friends of the local MC. It’s a style for me since 84 but I find myself wearing that style less every year and look forward to a full on leather jacket or my bomber nylon jacket (Black, orange on the inside). But great show Choppa keep on the grind my friend.~ML&Aloha Your Boy Duke&Ohana.
#GHOSTIN! I wear a leather vest, not because I'm a clubber, but for the extra pockets. They come in real handy on the road when you're out by yourself, and need a light for a smoke,or whatever. I put pins and patches on it because it shows where I've been. 2 wheels down,Sose.. Keep the rockin vids comin! This is the ONLY rider channel thats worth watching. Great info!
The cut, being a heavier material and at times more fitted, keeps a loose shirt from flapping around in the wind. Which when you have a hairy chest, as I do, it can feel itchy on the long highway rides as the shirt whips on the skin of your chest and abdomen.
Thanks for what you do! We all appreciate the truth and history you share. Why am I vested? I rode for years before putting on a vest. Fact is o never planned on wearing colors. I became a member of my local VFW. We started a riders group hoping to give guys coming back a place to be and to have that family back. I wear it as an identifier. I'm proud of who we are and what we're doing. Besides, ya never know, a simple conversation might make it 21 today instead of 22... Be safe out there ya'll
I wear my vest because is protective wear, blocks wind, and cover my 9mm when riding... i do plan on adding small state patch's as i ride to those states.
I had a Levis denim when i was a kid. I liked the look with a checkered shirt. But now its leather vest, because I need some place to put the 3 piece. ;) Sose keeping it real.
Another great video. I wear leather and denim vests almost daily. I’m an an independent but for me it’s like my purse more or less. My smokes phone, tools and other things 😉. I just have since I was a young teen and never stopped. I keep it clean though no patches no drawing attention when I’m out on the bike.
I only have one patch. The lone wolf patch, no clubs no rules. Walk into bike bar with that on you'll either get smacked or make some curious associates. Depends where you are
See I use to ride with a club but as a hang around. They told me to wear a blank vest when I ride with them key thing was zero patches. This way I did not have any colors or influence anywhere and I was easily identified as not a patch holder. Now today I still wear it even though I no longer ride with them. But it’s because it has become a item I need to feel comfortable with. Keeps my clothing from flapping in wind and I hold many items in my vest. It is still blank….

Yes definately true
I feel this, I love a good battle vest with band patches, pins, and spike studs everywhere. Metal style, even punk style is bad ass!
For metal a Motörhead patch somewhere is a must, and for punk you gotta have the Misfits patch rocking!
Studs. So many studs. Always reminded me of Vivian from The Young Ones xD punk is alive with decent vests

Thats a great way to describe it
Remember the denim cuts the Warriors and NY street gangs used to wear in the 70's? They sported a logo back in the day.
Yea definately remember that
When I was a minor, we did shit like that by neighborhood.
@@marine052520031, hell yeah. I still keep up with most of them guys.
Jacket or vest?
Full jacket I've never cared for vests all that much.
I normally just wear a flannel or a hoodie, the vest gets put on when the June bugs start flying around or when I'm on the interstate
I would do the same if i wasnt in a club
taking a junebug at speed suuuucks.
I took a june bug to the temple a year ago at 80 it knocked me dizzy and gashed my forehead open
been wearing a cut I was 16,I'm 66 now ride an 80 shovelhead been asked to prospect a few times but I would never join a club that would have me for a member my cut has a harley emblem where the bottom rocker would go nothing else never been hassled about it .the patch is the last thing my mother sewed before she passed in 02
I got a leather perfecto which i wear with my cutoff sleeveless demin above, but its got my motorhead, saxon ,acdc patches etc,,,,respect to all bikers

Saxon! Great rock n roll
I wear a cut because im in a mc club and my club wears them to represent who we are
Definately
Well in New Zealand nearly all patched members have the patch tattooed on there back it's about family and belonging
Thats that real ssshhhh
Beta boy.

Arlen Ness. When he was alive. He had a motorcycle club he started. It was a bike building club. They were called The Hampsters.
But they wore yellow T shirts with the clubs name and insignia printed on the back. But I don't know if they are still around.

@@DemonsRow. So they are still around sir. Thank you.
The old Cowboys always wear Vests. Some had Con-shows made from Silver. That’s why I wear my Vest. Western Baby !
Shout to the west

Ghostin! Great vid Sose!
Thanks ty
When I started riding I didnt wear a vest. It wasnt until I found it as a way to express myself through my patches that I really started wearing one.

I was always taught that a cut is only worn by a full patch member of any club . So a prospect wears a prospect vest. A civilian wearing a black or denim vest, Is just that a vest..? #Ghostin
To me its just a cut cut off of sleeves i guess it depends on the club and how they look at it
@@SoseTheGhost I see where your coming from that makes sense. The lack of sleeves makes it a cut off, For cut for short. The club I was once associated with you are only allowed to call a full patch vest a cut. I had no idea it was viewed so differently. I wonder if that's a coastal, regional type thing.
#Ghostin,Hey Sose hope you are well sitting on two's. native americans wore vests keeps me warm when its cold keeps me cold enuf when its hot out plus the inside pockets its an amazing piece of wear
It’s gets cold and I layer up with a vest less bulky than a bunch of sweaters and in the summer it offers some protection over nothing
I saw someone riding today with a backpack design that looked, from far enough away, like a black and white three piece patch. Plain, solid colors are always safest. Even then, be careful what colors you choose.
Thats a fact
I believe your analysis is 100% correct. It’s all about trends.
Me myself saw The Warriors wayyyyy back and wanted to wear a cut. I was in to hiphop culture and started with graffiti 1984. The same year I made my own “Warriors” typa cut with my artist name on it. So it was nothing new for me when me and some friends started our MCC. We don’t claim city or territory but we sure checked with the local association that it was okay.
The cut is a manifest of our unity. Essential.
Thats the truth trends is where its at
I wear slick back denim vest with back support. Its nice in fall when its a little cold out keeps my core warm and isn't bulky like a leather jacket.

Yea i def change my mind on this. This was a club mindstate
