The poultry electric fence has changed not only how we pasture birds but it’s changed the amount we raise. It’s so simple and people can’t believe how easy it is to keep them in there. You were the man who convinced me to take the plunge and invest in a large fence. So grateful for all your insight and willingness to share. Been a fan for years- blessings-
Thank you! I have been considering using mine on my hill but wasn't sure about it. Also - a tip for hard ground (especially in the dry season) I run the hose wherever I plan to insert a post. Then I can do less mallet work. And to remove it from dry ground, a water hose & standard crowbar works perfectly.
This was more helpful than I thought. I've got a fence and it's been up for awhile but you have some really good insight, especially on hills. Thanks Justin!
Justin, thank you for sharing these videos from Abundance plus. We can't afford to subscribe to your amazing new platform, but hoping we can in the near future. Getting to watch these really gets me excited for the future, thank you!
Thank you for doing this! We had used electric net fence years ago (primarily for sheep and goats) and had a lot of problems with it. I think many improvements have been made, and I just got a couple of rolls of poultry netting, and a solar charger, hoping they will be easier to use than the stuff we had twenty five years ago. (I'll be using this for poultry.)
Hey Gang, Justin, great posting, borderline comical LOL,God's Good Blessings to you and your beautiful family keep up the good work really enjoy your podcasts XOXOXOXO love U guys
Very Good Explanation of How To on this Poultry Net....Really would Love to try this, but not in Budget just yet. We did a 4' Perimeter Field Fence, and so far my 10 Birds won't fly over it, but my Gal Buddy's Amerucauna's Fly right over it....but they Fly way up into the Trees anyway....she doesn't like them inside the Perimeter Fence anyway.....I like how it keeps "daytime" 4-Legged Predators outside & away from my Flock. Thank You Great Video Justin
Do you have a link to the premier one fencing you use so y'alk get a portion of the proceeds? I would love to get one and support a farmer I follow on YT.
I was wondering if I can do a triangle with this netting. There's a spot on our property with a path going through it and the only way it could be utilized would be in a triangular shape...
Can you put the fence up with the spikes on the outside instead of inside? I would think it would be easier to push the spikes down with your foot or mallet if you're installing the fence on the outside.
Thanks Justin......I was going to use chicken wire attached to farm fencing, and will have my newest Chicken Protector, MAX, my Pyrenees Anatolian Akbash mix watching over the girls!
Hey brother thanks for the content. You got blessed with some great kids. And if you start calling the beautiful one your bride once in a while you might find that goes over very very well. Wife is a four letter word
@JustinRhodes Would this fence be enough to keep laying hens in? My family is getting some new chicks tomorrow, and our plan in the spring is to have a chicken tractor and this movable fence.
Our chickens love to visit my neighbors... one side is an older guy who loves his yard super clean... so i been thinking maybe i need one of these to keep em in our yard n away from my berry bushes... i really dont want to put in taller fence... our yard was fenced with a small fence my kids hop it all the time n the chickens like to sit on it and go over to tje neighbors...
Great video Justin. My whole paddock is slopped, so that last bit was good to see. Any advice on size of energizer? They looks to be quite expensive items here in NZ.
I’ve got “PITA” neighbors and they enjoy feeding all the stray cats in the neighborhood. Anyone have these fences to “keep out” feral cats in there yards? I’m considering a 6 to 8 foot tall fence that would have to be permanent that’s high voltage. We want to start breeding some gsd and I can’t have furl cats using my land as there personal litter box.
Unfortunately, this system doesn't work on our land. We live on pure sand, and the fence won't stay up. Even if I drive in fence posts everywhere, the soil is so dry, it won't conduct electricity, in our arid climate.
Does anyone know if this will keep out dogs? My neighbor has 4 very determined dogs that keep getting out and into my fenced in yard. They've already wiped out half of my flock and killed my sons cat. It's been over 4 months and he still cries for his cat, we bottle fed him from 1 week old together. I can't let them "free range" in my fenced in backyard anymore. They are stuck in their run all day everyday now. Those dogs climb and dig out multiple times a day everyday. Animal control won't do much and I don't have the heart to shoot them. I just want to do my best to keep them out. I will be going back to work soon and I'm scared to leave my chickens alone all day. The dogs haven't gotten into my run yet, but that's because I'm home to chase them back out of my yard. I don't have the funds to upgrade my fencing around my house yet, but I need something to help keep them out until I do.
If Animal Control won't do anything then you make threats to the Animal Control Officers and their organization that you can take them to court and force them to do their job.
Yes it does. The premier1 solar energizer and a set of netting on high output will give the dogs a good hit on the nose and they’ll go runnin. Bait it with peanut butter slathered on foil wrapped around the conductor strands. Electricity is pretty powerful when it comes to training animals. Set it up good so it isn’t grounding out, bait the wire, put it on high voltage output and watch the dogs go running when they touch it.

Even though I'm not a homesteader, I enjoy watching these videos and how your children are willing to help you (yes, even Henry 🤩
Super glad you did this demo! I've been curious about these fences for a while. Thanks Justin!

I’ve been having troubles trying to put two fences together,to be able to get a charge....is it possible?

What is premier 1 discount code please?
Ok question
Why would you not put the metal spikes to the outside so you can stomp/hammer them in without hassle?
"And you got a little un-sag" lolol no saggy nets
Is the ideas of an electric chicken fence to keep predators out? Looks like a nice set up.
My problem is hawks. How do you protect them?
What brand of netting is it? Where do u buy it?
It is called Premier 1
Sorry I missed how's net is that?
How come you're doing permanent instead of a migrating fencing?
I'm pretty sure this fence is designed to be moved.
will this also work for rabbits?
Taking those poultry posts out of that hard soil is gonna be very annoying later haha trust me, I have had the pleasure of doing this myself haha
When did Justin start growing Cannabis?

Interesting
Good pen for the rabbits !! No ?

I would add wood chips to soil ...
