The PVC pipe making plant in North Carolina that was destroyed in Helene has had a ripple effect here in the Oklahoma Plant . With North Carolina our of commission the Oklahoma plant has to take up the slack and get pipes to North Carolina for water repairs etc. My son is supervisor at the Oklahoma plant . That is how I know this . I continue to pray for all those hit by these terrible storms .
That was great getting a new bigger high tunnel. Farmer’s Friend was amazing. I loved when you asked the boys what they were doing they both said whatever they tell us to do. They both know when to lead and when to follow.
Frozen hose solution: see recent video from Living Traditions Homestead for how they use an expanding hose and a 5 gallon bucket to keep hose from from freezing.
Justin commented before/ You gotta get that soil tested for the health of your family. Western NC had super high levels of metals around the rivers deposited into the soil.
All of his flooding was from rainfall off his property on the side of the mountain or from other runoff on other farms down the road ... no mining, no industry just forest and pasture. No one is taking this constant advice to test soil seriously.
@@sharvo6the damaging flood was from the flood burn behind their house over flowing. Could have been worse if that flood pond wasn’t already empty before the storm. Personally I would still test even before filling it with compost.
This family is obsessed with eating organic etc. I would think with their concern about eating healthy they would be careful about the soil condition of their garden.

Hello to The Rhodes & to the Farmer's Friends. & Thank you for helping Justin & his family get your newest High tunnel. It looks great So glad the boys could help you with the work putting it up. Merry Christmas to you Farmer's Friends. Keep up all your great work you do to help people.
Justin this is what we do with our water hoses in the winter. When we get done watering we pull the hose down a hill or slope so the water will drain out the house. We unscrew it a little at the faucet and put the cover back over the faucet. That way the hose is always empty and we can re screw it on the faucet and water again since the hose isn't frozen.
Even with long hoses quick connects on both ends makes it easy to drain hoses in a short time and keeps them from freezing, you have to disconnect the hoses from the spigot do it with a quick disconnect!
I was raised on a farm with 4 other siblings.. we all did outside chores but Mom didn't ... she had non stop laundry and other non stop things that "keep the household running" things to do . I doubt she is just lazing around as you perhaps suggesting!!! Shame on you for even questioning this!
She is laying around all day. She has house keepers, maids, cooks etc or she may still be breast feeding!!! Disgusting!! I guess her man just doesn't do it for her!!!!😂😂😂

The plastic that rolls on the bar should go from the outside under the way it is now rain with catch there and rust and be stagnant. If you put it the other way rain falls off.
I’m happy this family got a green house for free but they are are extremely wealthy and poor people in their own community could have benefited from this free gift
Unroll the plastic over the apex first, then unfold it next time. Justin, I live in Kansas. Much colder than you. We have been homesteading 27 years now. Ever since my husband retired from the navy. We all ways empty our hoses after we us them. Only socks if you forget to.
Watch Living Traditions Homestead, they have a flat hose that is super light weight they use in the winter to be able to water animals without worrying about it freezing.
That was good work everybody. I like the way you all work together. I love your new greenhouse. God bless you all. I hope you have a wonderful Christmas. 2025 is going to be great.
Maybe Rebekah can help you in the morning, at least do one chore or watch the youngest one so he’s not destroying the house by using lamps as bazookas. 😂
Do not attach the plastic sheeting to the greenhouse structure as it will act as a sail and the wind can lift and displace the structure. I use ribbon tape and ratchet straps across the plastic sheeting. Connect the straps to a heavy object so the wind will lift the sheeting but not the structure.
It looks like you can bring in stuff from the outside all along the side of the greenhouse while the sides are up. You appear to have enough space between the creek and the greenhouse to maneuver a bit. Maybe add gravel so there is a good driving surface. Perhaps get something smaller to move things about inside the greenhouse.
more plastic to leach into the soil and will inevitably get washed down the river. glassblock construction can be heavy enough to avoid being washed away next flood.
Have you had your garden soil tested. My friends on the Nolichucky are having their hay fields test for contaminants. The flood waters had chemicals, oil, sewage, fuel oil and dead animals in it. He was worried about growing his cattles hay on those fields.
Justin just remember stress leads to anxiety - stress is a cycle you can control - but an anxiety cycle you have no control over - you will have no choice but to just go through it...don't stress you have everything you need for today to handle what you need for today...remember that! Justin, you need to get yourself a zero gravity recliner(foot rest NOT SEPARATE). I was unable to work for 2 yrs & have now had chronic sciatica for over 20 yrs. An adjustable bed, chiropractic, 2 hrs a night in the zero gravity recliner & I mange it without drugs. Son, you need to slow down, you drive yourself and everyone around you including the FF crew! I'll bet you were just as busy as Gideon as a child, he is you it seems. Take a breathe, quit trying to track and fill every minute of the day. You'll give yourself a heart attack and burn your kids out. The videos have been better without as much loud music between shots, thanks! Slow down, find calm, listen to your body. Blessings Jan
Well you now have your high tunnel back again! One small bit of advice: before you put one chicken, or one pig in there for the winter, animal proof it so that none of your livestock get out, or mingle from their respective pens. It may seem trivial now, but as we have seen in the past, you wind up “fixing the barn door after the horse is out”. As my dad would always say, “work smarter, not harder”. So it may mean delaying your livestock move until you get it done, but it will be easier if no animals are in the high tunnel until you have really done your homework. Just want to see this go better than in the past. Please enjoy this huge space!
